I've decided to post this for anyone else who may be going through the same or something similar to me.

It all started when I was 14. I had to go home from school because I got my period, and it was the most painful thing I had encountered for a long time. It was extremely heavy, the pain made me throw up and I felt faint. It had also hurt to go to the washroom. It wasn't a UTI, it felt like muscle pain. In order to urinate I had to push, and it was a deep pain that kind of felt like it was around my perineum (the area from the vaginal opening to the a**s). My previous periods (I started having them when I was 11, by the way) were no where near as bad.

I went to see my doctor the same day. He gave me a vague suggestion of a diagnosis that translated to me as "don't worry about it too much". He had, however, referred me to get an ultrasound and a urine test (to test for a UTI). I got the urine test, but not the ultrasound. I forgot about it after my friends and my sex-ed teacher told me that their periods were really painful, too. Now I really wish I hadn't ignored it.

Now that you know some back story, here's what's been happening recently:

Lately (within the past year or so), my periods have become increasingly more painful. It's to the point where it's immobilizing. My last period was so bad that I vomitted and could not stand after sitting; it was almost as if my muscles decided to stop working. My pain during bowel movements and urinating has increased as well. It hurts so much that I'd rather not go to the bathroom. Sex has started to hurt if it is at the wrong angle. I also sometimes see blood when I have a bowel movement. What really got me worrying was that I just had my period a couple of weeks ago, and it's back. This has never happened to me before. Usually my periods are really regular. I'm not on birth control either. Last week I started bleeding. At first it was just old blood, I didn't really think anything of it. Now it's full blown blood, and it won't stop.

I went to see a doctor yesterday because it was fairly worrying, and I'm having abdominal pain. I had an internal exam, which is usually pretty uncomfortable, but in my cause was almost tear inducing.

I went for an ultrasound today, and I have to go back on December 6th. I have another doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and I'm being reffered to a gynocologist. A laparascopy is on the way.

I will keep updating on my medical journies, even if no one reads now. Maybe it'll help someone in the future.

So you've actually been diagnosed with endometriosis already, or you think that that is what the diagnosis might be?

I've got 2 doctors who are 89% positive I have it, and I personally just have the feeling. It's pretty much to the point where I just need a laparoscopy to confirm it, and so we can go ahead with treatment.

I didn't mean any offense, just so you know, nor did I mention to question it. I'm glad you know what's going on, and I wish you the best of luck with the laparoscopy. heart

My mother was diagnosed with endometriosis right after my little brother was born. If you need any support while going through this. Let us know. We are all here for you. I know of a few websites that will help you out, if you need them. Just let me know.

Reading your post sounded SO MUCH like the symptoms my mother had. It's almost scary.

BTW: endometriosis is not 100% diagnosable until they go in and test it. It cannot be diagnosed through a regular exam. But, I think you said you were getting the laparoscopy done. -So, that's when you should find out for sure.

Good Luck and please do keep us posted.

I was diagnosed with endo after complications from an abortion when I was younger. I probably would have never had it checked out otherwise - the doctors have reassured me that the abortion had nothing to do with the endo, it just brought it to my attention.

It really does suck.

That really does suck. Usually Endo. is genetic and if it's going to happen, it's predetermined. (As in, It is nothing you do.) Or so my Mother's doctor says. o.O

I was diagnosed with endo when I was 14 as it was handed down thanks to good old genetics from my mother's side. Fortunatly, thanks to my doctor, they have it under control via various forms of birth control though I've had a couple relapses. I was rather surprised to find a thread here about it seeing as its not very common (or so I think anyway?). Its good to know there are others out there. heart

There are probably a lot more people out there who share your delima than you think. 3nodding We are here for you and if you ever need to talk about it. Feel free. *I am at risk for endo. because of my mother and her mother.*
