The house was quiet, not quite such an unnatural thing. Sara, the human that resided with him never seemed quite lively while they were in their - he now considered it as much his home as it was hers. She seemed to go into a state of withdrawal as soon as they came home, and it would be almost nigh impossible to get any sort of decent conversation out of her. Not that he minded too much, he supposed. It meant he was fully in charge of his life, and her will was his to bend. But it didn't seem... like he was getting the full use out his 'power'. He didn't know exactly how it worked, but that it was linked to the aroma he exuded. It numbed the mind and the senses, he'd seen that much from a few public outings. But he'd never gotten any result like he did with her. It was almost demeaning to his power, that she succumbed to it so easily.

He made his way to the door, opening it - letting out a long creak. He tapped his foot, waiting for her jump up from wherever she was. While she may not even been as emotionally active in general, she did seem to be rather overprotective, not that she didn't usually see the light when he pushed the issue. But this time - nothing. He heard not a sound. He slammed the door, as if simulating that he had left. Still nothing. He seethed, opening the door once more. He headed to the nearby table, where upon her bag was and fished out her wallet - extracting the remaining ten dollars she had.

And with that, he headed out the door, not even bothering to shut it. He headed out of the building and down the street, and felt an immense sense of nervousness. He'd never been out on his own, quite like this. But that emotion flooded away once he walked past a few people who eyed his stub. It was ridiculous to be afraid of anything. He walked for some time, unsure of exactly where he was going. But finally, he entered a shop - the Blue Room and casually took a seat at a table.

Things were quite quite today it seemed, and Faythe was quite enjoying not being rushed off of his feet by the customers. He didn't mind usually, but he hadn't had the best night sleep the previous night, and it had left him a little drained. That was why the sound of the door opening brought a small sigh from the slender man as he looked up from the counter. His expression quickly switched to surprise. There was a boy there... he couldn't be that much older than Nage looked and he appeared to be on his own... now they did get children in the Blue Room every now and then, but not all that often, so this was a little strange. He supposed the boys parent must be somewhere behind him.

Putting down the cloth he'd been using to dry up some of the teacups that Jayce had finished washing, Faythe stepped out form behind the counter and made his way across the room. There were three or four tables where people were sitting as well as the one the boy had chosen, but no one tried to catch his attention as he walked over. "Good afternoon," he stated with a smile at the boy. "Welcome to the blue room, there's a menu just there on the side for you... our special today is a summer raspberry and apple tea..." He paused, "We also have some vanilla sponge cake... are you waiting for anyone..?" He gestured at the other empty seats at the table. He had to be polite, of course, a customer was a customer, no matter the age. His words were ever so slightly slow in coming to mind however... this boy had... a rather strange air to him, almost like the strange smell that seemed to hover around his own little ward from time to time, yet different... very different.

The door at the foot of the staircase that led up to the flats was pushed open while Faythe. He felt a momentary flush of irritation that Faythe was distracted when he wanted to talk to him, then his eyes flickered to the boy that was the one currently holding his guardians focus. Now then... he was an interesting looking one... what on earth had happened to that arm of his..? Or maybe he was seeing things... it was hard to tell with Faythe in the way...

He pushed the door shut behind him, being very careful to swing his tail out of the way. As usual he was not wearing the hat that Faythe had asked that he use to cover his horns. He liked them. They weren't offensive, they were clean and everything. Why should he hide them..? They were part of him!

He didn't go straight over, instead he hung back for just a moment. He wanted to ask the boy, quite directly who and what he was... he was sure they were similar though... it was just the sort of feeling he got. Plus there was a strange smell in the air...he could almost taste it... his snake like tongue flicked once before he pursed his lips to stop the reflexive action from happening again. Faythe never talked to the customers for long, and he didn't think it would any different with that boy. Soon his guardian would rush off to go make the tea or whatever. Why Faythe liked such a feminine job was beyond him. He wouldn't make tea for anyone. Regardless though, as soon as Faythe walked away, he'd go over...

Seph waited patiently, or at least appeared to, anyway. In reality he didn't have much intention of waiting around. He hardly even knew what had caused him to wander into the store. He had needed to sit down, that much he knew - to sort his emotion from his first outing on his own. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the footsteps of someone heading over toward his table. He looked up, dully fixating on the figure as he rattled off. His mind was still wandering with thoughts of the outside. There was a pause as the other finished, and it took him a few moments to collect his thoughts. "I'll have both." Another pause. "No. I'm alone." He said icily, which caused his scent around him to contaminate the air - which had a rather numbing effect.

His eyes flickered over, seeing someone else - a boy, who seemed even stranger then himself in appearance. But he didn't say anything, instead returned his attention to his server.
PostPosted: Thu May 21, 2009 6:07 pm

That... was a very strange sensation, Faythe had to admit. For a moment there it was like his mind had just stopped working, like his brain had gone to sleep and left him just standing there. It didn't grip him for too long, but it was noticeable, and when the strange sensation started to fade, Faythe shook his head, it was almost like he needed to clear a fog from his mind.
"Of course, both of them.. right away..." He stepped away from the table his mind running around in circles.. both of what..? Oh wait.. cake.. Vanilla sponge and the tea... apple and raspberry... yes. That was it... what on earth was wrong with him..?

Faythe made his way back behind the counter to retrieve the cake and start preparing the tea. It would take a little while... he was obviously still a little.. vague however, as he managed to walk past Nagendra without giving the scent his usually hair muss.

Nagendra as it happened was actually pleased that his hair was allowed to go unmussed, but he wasn't so amused at being utterly ignored. Then again.. Faythe had seemed a little.. distracted. He'd just make sure he got him to explain himself for it later... for now though, there was something more important to be dealt with. He had to find out just who that boy was. After waiting until Faythe had stepped back into the kitchen, Nagendra made his way across the room, past a couple of slightly elder ladies with a cream tea set, and over to the boy.

He stopped by one of the unused chairs and leant against the back of it, his very green eyes fixed curiously on this other boy, who.. by the aroma clearly was of the same ilk as he. "Who are you..?" He asked, his voice more curious than demanding just now, "I'm Nagendra..." He couldn't help but be slightly curious. He'd met a few children by now.. but only a very few like himself... and none that looked like this boy. "And also.. how come you're here on your own..?" Nage liked to run away from Faythe as well.. so if the boy had just wanted some space, well, maybe he could sympathise. Maybe...

The release of his scent had been unintentional, but seemed more potent that it usually was. Then again, he hadn't ever had a chance to properly use his 'power', since Sara she seemed... he couldn't tell whether it worked too well on her or if she had some weird sort of immunity to it. At the very least, she went along with whatever she said, but she never seemed quite as dazed as this server was. However, Sara would go into states of daze on her own...

He merely gave a curt nod as the server stepped back, watching him head to the counter and begin preparations. He was impressed with himself, and wondered exactly what the limits were of his powers. Did it work on those like him...? What had that annoying pink haired boy said to him... Scent kids? But when would he find another one...?

And it seems it didn't take long for him to find another one. How curious. He had never met another person like him before, in his material state, but now they seemed to be popping up all over the place. This one looked very strange, much stranger then him, even. And that, at the very least pleased him. He now put his attention onto the other boy, who seemed rather interested in him as well. "I'm Seph." He said casually, and scanned the other's appearance once more. There were things sticking out of his head? "Why wouldn't I be here on my own?" He responded, as if it was common for kids to be running amok by themselves.

"According to Faythe Kids aren't meant to go out alone.." The tone of voice Nagendra chose to speak in however was rather disinterested, as if he didn't really share the opinion. "He doesn't like it when I go out without telling him." The draconic boy shrugged very slightly. "Seph huh..? Well it's nice to meet you. You look more.. interesting than a lot of people I've seen around.." He certainly smelt interesting to... though Nagendra's own spicy, smoky scent was wasn't that much less apparently... it was hard to smell the other scent through it.

Nagendra drummed his fingers on the back of the chair for a moment, his tail curling across the floor behind him. "Do you have a someone to 'look after you'?" His own experience had caused him to believe that it was entirely possible that a scent could be without anyone around. He had been after all... for quite a while. He didn't think he missed it though, it was nice to be clean. "Just asking because you're like me.. aren't you... you smell different though..I can't work out what it is..." It wasn't like his own scent was likely to be obvious either, but that didn't occur to him really. He knew what he was, so he supposed everyone else would to.

Off in the kitchen Faythe was neatly cutting a slice of the Vanilla cake. His head was clear now.. that had been strange... but he was wondering how come the boy was here on his own. He figured he'd let him have the cake and the tea and then see if Nage would come and talk to him. Maybe he could get his nosy little ward to find out where the boy lived or something... that way maybe he could get a phone number and give the place a call to let whoever looked after him know where he was...

"That's his opinion." He shrugged, then again, he wasn't entirely sure if such thinking was entirely incorrect. Perhaps some children wouldn't make it out on the real world, but it seemed he was fully capable of it after the intial scare. He didn't make any comment on to what his own guardian thought, but he suspected it was likely the same. "Interesting?" His eyes narrowed, looking at the other male once more. As if he was one to talk. His voice sounded a little colder then he'd intended, but he could tell that the other hadn't meant to insult him. He dispelled his scent temporarily, trying to get a more accurate whiff of what the other was. He still couldn't tell.

He quickly looked at the other's tail, and then back at him. "In a manner of speaking." He said cryptically, still unsure of where exactly he stood on the matter. He did have someone to look after him, and she was capable when he wasn't undermining her efforts. But he hardly ever gave her a chance to - his power completely made her will to putty. Like you. It was hard to believe that the both of them came from the same... specie, but the scent around him told him that much was true. He didn't think that there would be non-human ones. "In all honesty, I'm not quite sure. I have yet to come across anything else that even resembles it. I'll have to ask..." What had that annoying boy called that wise woman? " 'Livia. She's apparently the owner of the shop we are bought from." He said somberly, still not keen on the idea of being bought like an article of clothing. "And what exactly are you?" He meant it both in the sense of what his scent was and what he actually was.
PostPosted: Sat May 23, 2009 6:45 am

"I'm a scent like you...." Negendra stated, now finally shifting himself to sit in the spare seat he had been standing by for a few minutes. "I can't say I've ever heard of anyone called Livia... but this woman I used to stay with told me I'd come from an oil called... Serpents Kiss... or something like that.." He lifted his shoulders in a very slightly shrug. "I didn't really think it mattered so much, but I guess I remembered it for some reason." He rested his hands neatly on the table. Drumming his nails very lightly there. As for what he actually was..? Well. He was a scent obviously. That was all he really knew.

"I live upstairs with Faythe.." He gestured at the door which hid away the staircase he had used earlier with one hand. "It's okay I suppose, he's nice enough." He let his gaze wander to the kitchen where he could see his guardian fussing with something or other. "He's called Faythe." He'd heard Faythe introduce people to him before, and it seemed the done thing to do, so why not?

"Do you go off to places on your own a whole lot then..?" The idea that such a thing could be common place seemed to have caught Nagendra's interest. "I mean, I really want to.. I always run off when Faythe says we have to go to the park or something... but he doesn't really like it at all when I just sneak out of the house... I had to run errands for him for a week the last time that happened..." his tone was just ever so slightly sulky, and the words were tinged with just a very slight sound of a hiss. His serpents tongue did occasionally lilt his words.

"I wish he'd let me do what I want more of the time..." He was quite jealous of this boy, Seph and his apparent state of interdependence.

It began to make him wonder exactly how common scents were. He'd only met two, but that was in such a short span of time. Was it merely a coincidence he had encountered so many, or were there truly a lot in existence? "This women that you stayed with, did she know a lot about scents? Do all scents come from oils?" His memory was fuzzy of his time spent in his material state, but that statement sounded about right. Serpent's Kiss... what a strange name, which had led to a strange boy.

His gaze followed where the other pointed at, which made him make sense of the other boy had suddenly appeared. He merely nodded as the other explained his situation. "I live in an apartment not too far from here... My..." But he couldn't bring himself to say parent or mother, like that other boy had explained to him. "Mine is called Sara." He said cooly, allowing the other to fill the blanks. But he chose not to elaborate on what she was like.

"Yeah." He replied, even though that wasn't entirely the truth. This was the first time he'd been completely on his own, without her anywhere in sight. He'd wandered off at the mall, but she was still there. But as far as he was concerned, the other boy didn't need to know that. "Freedom has a price, you know." He murmured, more to himself then to Nagendra. He was allowed to go off on his own because she simply didn't care - sometimes she didn't at all, and other times he forced her not to. Was it really worth this freedom? Pollux has told him that even through thick and thin that family would love you and care for you. But Sara, she... he didn't allow her to.

Seph lips curled into a smile, forgetting his temporary state of sorrow. He'd sort things out with her. If he could make her not love him, he could surely make her love him as well. "We can't all have what we want."

Nagendra had been about to speak once again when his own guardian leaving the kitchen caught his eye. Faythe had walked over and placed the cake and tea down for Seph, and had had his attention caught a moment later when an elderly couple walked into the tea room, he of course had to go and seat them and make sure they were okay.

"Make sure he's okay Nage.." The young man stated as he walked away.

Nagendra rolled his eyes as Faythe walked away from him. He didn't really mind being settled here with Seph, he seemed pretty interesting to talk to really, certainly more interesting than sitting up in his room alone, even though he didn't really like sitting down in the tea room. At least he had company. His tail waved itself across the floor, curling slightly as he was quite contented at the moment. "Well, enjoy I guess..?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Faythe makes pretty good cakes I suppose, though Jayce is good as well..." he liked cake. It was one good thing about living above a tea room, there was often cake left over at the end of the day which was good for a sugar loving child.

"So.. as lame as the question really is, what kinda stuff do you like doing..?" He wasn't really sure what most children did. He liked sitting and being read to, but Faythe seemed to think it was more normal for children to like colouring or things like that. He also liked being outside, but only when he could be bothered to go and play. Which wasn't always... but every now and then it was fine. "I quite like the park. Though I like sorting through my treasures better..." it was true. That had to be his favourite hobby of all... his little box of 'treasures'.

Seph eyed the cake and tea, and had momentarily forgot what he had even ordered. Sponge cake and... apple tea, was it? It looked good, much better then anything he'd eaten thus far. The food selection at... Sara's was rather limited. She never seemed very hungry and didn't cook very much, so he was left to his own devices to prepare himself food. He was lost carefully inspecting the food, but not quite as much to hear the man's parting words. However, he made no sign that he had heard them.

He gave a nod, using the fork to take a chunk out. He'd practiced using utensils, as not to cause himself any public embarassement. Sara she... had tried to teach him once but he had quickly refused her help. So he had been set to learn by himself. "Do you want some?" He figured it was rude to eat and not offer the boy some. He then ate the piece he had broke off, savouring the taste. "It is good."

What do you like doing? It was probably the hardest question he had been asked thus far. From his previous experience, it certainly wasn't shopping. And... he hadn't really done much else. "Reading, I guess." He shrugged. Sara had a rather large collection of books, and it was something he could do independantly. He didn't get to go outside much, either. Though, that would change now, seeing as he could manage on his own. "Treasures?" He asked, arching his eyebrow.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 09, 2009 10:56 am

"You just like reading..?" That surprised Nagendra. He couldn't imagine actually wanting to spend all of your time reading a book... he liked it when Faythe read to him, but reading by himself was boring and tedious... it meant he had to read the words himself... he could read perfectly well, but it didn't mean he actually liked to do it... he certainly didn't. It was a shame really... he very much liked the story... "I like stories... but I don't really enjoy reading..." He shrugged very slightly. "Do you do anything else? Do you play games..? Or do you like running around..?" He was actually finding himself rather interested in Seph... he was a curious looking individual, and that was a sure fire way to catch Nage's attention...

"You can have the cake, I'm not really hungry.." He stated, cake wasn't really a treat for him, he could have it more or less when he liked, but he did remember his manners... he wanted to learn more about Seph though... and being rude wouldn't help him there... "Thank you for offering though... I'm pleased you're enjoying it." He rested an elbow on the table and rested his chin on his hand, still giving Seph a mildly interested look. He did like cake... he loved it in fact... he just wasn't hungry.... if he had been he'd have accepted the offer in a shot.

"You want to know about my treasures...?" He was pretty sure that his new acquaintances tone had been interested... "I have a box of them.. things that I've collected that are special... some of them are pretty... shiny metals.. you know.. like gold... and some are gifts I've been given... a couple are just random things I've found and liked... I can show you later if you'd like to see..?" He raised an eyebrow... "I'm sure Faythe wouldn't mind..."

"Yes." Seph said simply, wondering why the other seemed so surprised by that fact. Reading was a way to escape reality, his reality was four gray walls with nothing else to do. Sometimes he sat and thought, sometimes he carefully watched Sara in her semi-comatose state. But most of the time he read. "Well, what other reason would one read other then for the stories?" He had yet to really come across any non-fiction books since Sara didn't really have any. He shook his head, "No games or running around." He found needless to expel energy, and he didn't... have anyone to play with him, really.

"It's very good." He said, his lips curling into a smile before taking another a piece of the cake and gobbling it. He would need to come back here just for the cake, if not for the company. This was the first time he had gotten along with someone right off the bat.

He gave a small nod, since that was what his intention had been. He was just as curious as to what normal Scents... no, children did. "That would be nice." He said in a friendly tone, though he was genuinely interested as to what the other's treasures were... after all, from books he had learned that treasure constituted of gems and gold coins and other rare artifacts.

"Okay well, when you're done with eating we can up up to the flat then. It's kinda messy at the moment..." he pulled a slight face, mess wasn't really something he enjoyed being around very much, but as he'd found out with his own room, needs must... the mess would lead to something really rather lovely. "Faythe is working on getting everything re decorated up there you see, so there's pots of paint and brushes and things all over the place. It'll look nice when it's done though. He decorated down here apparently..." he'd always thought the cafe was done up rather nicely... he certainly didn't dislike it.

"Hmm...if you don't like games though I suppose we'll have to think of something else to do... I guess it shouldn't be too hard.." He was used to Faythe or Jayce just coming up with ways he could pass the time, actually thinking about it himself made it a little more complicated. He quite liked board games, but by definition they came under games.. so.. they'd probably have to be out.. and as Seph didn't like running the park wouldn't be a good idea either... what on earth were you meant to do if you didn't like playing..?

The young boy rested his chin on his hand in a rather thoughtful manner... there had to be something... it would probably come to him while they were upstairs, when he could actually see his belongings. "Maybe we could try a game or something..?" Yeah.. so he was suggesting something he wasn't sure Seph would like... but ideas weren't exactly forthcoming, and he wasn't that patient. He liked to make decisions when the idea cropped up, he did not approve of having to wait and think things over. "I've got snakes and ladders, ludo, and a couple of others.. Faythe's been teaching me to play Chess... but I'm not good at it yet..." he sounded slightly surly for a moment. He didn't like not being good at things right away...

"That's fine." Seph replied, not really minding. Sara's apartment wasn't actually that terribly organized either, at least therooms that weren't empty and hollow. "Oh. That's nice." He murmured, eyes flickering around the room, not really having much to add in means of the matter of redecorating. Sara's apartment was... he didn't quite have the word for it, but he could imagine it was would need some redecorating.

"It's not that I don't like games... I've just never played any." Seph said solemnly. He knew what games were - he'd passed through enough stores to get a general idea of what they were. They were ways to amuse yourself and pass the time. Amusement was not something that often occurred to him. Sara was rather... mellow.

Still, he was up to trying it. Any sort of action or activity that involved another person was relatively unknown to him. "Sure." He replied, though the names of the games went over his head. "Maybe we can try Chess? Since I don't know to play either..." Still, the fact of the matter was he wanted to try something that he would have a level playing field at.
