Rivener had pondered putting some kind of leash on the flying whale, but Beauregard had always been rather attached to Riv, or so the Scorpion thought. Besides, surely if the little flying whale zipped off Riv would be able to catch him; he was much faster since he'd become a Sigel. Beaubeau and he had already tested this out a few times around the house, the whale taking off in an attempt to escape and Riv catching up easily with a few beats of his powerful new wings. The whale and Riv now knew the score; there was no escaping at all.

The pair floated down the sidewalk, Riv's hands in his jacket pockets, smiling to himself softly. He'd taken to bringing Beaubeau out for walks, exploring more of the city by himself and letting the adventurous animal discover the big wide world as well. Riv wasn't sure this counted as "exercise" for him since he didn't actually work any part of his body save his rune and ribbon, sometimes his wings, but it was a good practice for when he'd develop legs. It was good to get into the habit NOW. After all, Riv had someone to impress.

Ignoring the look of passersby who stared at the floating whale and floating half-body, Rivener wandered into a new part of town.

"You guys are completely sure this is absolutely everything right? And the entire bill for this is in the envelope?" Zeke was standing with his hand on the clinic door, keeping it open as his other hand waved a folded sheet of paper and a full envelope side to side, directing all attention to it. "I don't want to be getting calls on my phone when I'm halfway there. I made sure to leave my pens at the desk--No I don't want your pen." A burst of laughter left him as he shook his exotic looking head and turned to leave. "I'll be back in a while, you guys won't starve, jeez!"

Tucking the paper items into his white lab coat, he turned from his coworkers, grasping the handle of a shiny Radio Flyer wagon as the clinic door shut with a heavy 'click'. It was the young veterinarian's lunch duty day and his destination was a decent sized deli several blocks east of the white stone building. The paper in his pocket had a long list of names, orders, and payment, but Zeke's name was absent from the list. His own lunch sat in a lunch box in the front of the wagon he pulled, going to be eaten while he waited outside the sandwich bar for orders to be made and brought out to him. It was nothing special; a lunchmeat sandwich, a small container of salad, a bottle of lemonade, and an apple, but it was healthy and would carry him on through the day. Dinner would be a different matter entirely, but nothing he had to worry about until then, and something he would make sure not to mention to Alex again, lest the woman drag him to Gambino by his ponytail and shove a hot meal down his gullet.

The wagon jostled as Zeke stepped off the curb and into the street, making him pause to see if his pack of food had fallen out. It hadn't, but tipped onto its side instead, though that did not matter to him at all. After a quick look to both sides he jaywalked to the opposite sidewalk, carefully lifting the front wheels up onto the cement before continuing on after the back wheels had joined. As he walked, he got several stares and a few double-takes, but the young man was hardly bothered by them. Other than that, nothing was unusual or out of place in his mind, though a part of him was hoping for something, or someone, new to pop up. Idle chatter while waiting for the meals of others always made the time pass that much faster and, judging from the list he took out as the deli came into view, it would be most welcome. From anyone.

Rivener was wandering slowly, looking into the windows of the businesses he passed by. A shoe store, a wellness clinic, a Chinese take-out... This street was a slightly less busy business district, shops lining the sidewalks on either side of the two-lane traffic. Cars were rare, and there were no lights at the crossroads, only stop signs. It made Riv feel like he might be in a smaller town, not the huge metropolis of Durem. It was refreshing, and the Raevan made it his business to commit this street to memory so he could come back. He wondered if the Chinese there tasted good? If the clothes in that second-hand shop were any good? If this record store sold CDs or only actual records? He'd come back and find out all of that someday when he didn't have Beaubeau to look after.

The small whale was humming to himself in his wonderful baritone voice, practicing his songs. He'd float in a bobbing fashion, from side to side, weaving through the air in time to the beat of his music. Rivener was mostly ignored, apart for when the whale found himself particularly inspired. Then he'd belt out the lyrics and circle Riv's head languidly, serenading the Sigel. Riv didn't seem to mind at all, smiling most times and pausing what he was doing to listen. It was such inspiration that hit Beauregard now, but instead of granting RIVENER this gift of song, Beaubeau headed instead for a seated man. That burst of purple and green on the man's head had caught the flying whale's eye! This called for a song!

"Born with the moon in cancer
Choose her a name she will answer to
Call her green and the winters cannot fade her
Call her green for the children whove made her
Little green, be a gypsy dancer

He went to california
Hearing that everythings warmer there
So you write him a letter and say, her eyes are blue.
He sends you a poem and shes lost to you
Little green, hes a non-conformer..."

"Beau-beau!" Rivener called, finally noticing the whale had left his side. Frowning, Riv snapped his wings open to stop his fast forward momentum, sending a gust a wind around the bench. Long-clawed fingers plucked Beauregard out of the air and clamped one hand on the thing's mouth, stifling the song. "Ah, I'm terribly sorry about that," Rivener offered apologetically, red eyes turning down to take in the strange man's appearance. Hell, he stood out as much as Riv and Beau did! The Scorpion's eyebrows lifted slightly. A white lab coat? Or a doctor? And yet piercings, weird hair, a Radio Flyer being tugged around? ...Slowly Rivener came to a rather strange conclusion and he leaned down slightly, looking concerned. "Do you know where you are?" he asked in a slow, clear voice, as though speaking to a child. Because, by all appearances, this was an escaped mental patient.

"I'll just wait out front on the bench, and don't worry about it! There's no hurry, it's lunch at a deli, this is expected!" Zeke grinned and let the door swing shut, raising his hand in a wave to the woman who had just returned behind the counter before sitting himself down on the bench out front. His lunch bag was already seated there and he pulled it on to his lap, unzipping the cover and pulling out his aluminum foil-wrapped sandwich. It was lunch rush and people were wandering in and out of the shop in a steady stream, so while eating he would get a decent show of people watching. It wasn't a bad way to spend a short afternoon trip and eating in a place that didn't smell of sterile was even better. Just a regular afternoon with just a small token thrown in for kicks. Or so he thought.

His head turned as he ate, none of the figures passing him on either side of the street or going in and out were too interesting. Mostly business suits, work attire, and the occasional comfy-casual, but nothing truly attention grabbing. People watching was interesting, but truly only when the ones you watch were dressed or doing something interesting as well. Zeke began to wonder if today was just going to be a mundane, regular one when, midway into one half of his sandwich he heard a singing voice coming from his left. Something out of the ordinary! He quickly turned sideways on the bench, brown eyes searching the lessening stream for whomever it was. What he caught was a bright flash of red in front of his eyes before it was above and circling his head. His head tilted and looked up and what he saw there made his eyebrows raise in shock. A...Whale?! Zeke immediately looked down at his sandwich as the flying, singing creature continued its song. ...There's something wrong with this lunch meat.

The eaten half and the untouched half were tossed back into the lunch bag with no care, as all of Zeke's attention focused on the whale. The song was reaching the end of the second stanza and with curiosity gripping him Zeke reached a hand up to touch one of the red whale's fins. Just as his fingertips were about to graze the appendage, a cry broke over and a gust of wind sent that hand down to cover his eyes, lest any grit get into them. When he dropped it and looked up, the whale was gone, but a figure standing next to him immediately drew his attention to the side again. When he saw who was there, 'standing' wasn't the right term. Another Raevan! And like Zul had said a day or two ago, this one was different looking than him. Very different, and the young man couldn't help but gawk a little. Rivener's apology almost went over his head, but Zeke was snagged on the tail end of it and dragged back to Earth.

"What? Oh...Don't apologize!" He flustered and shook his head, clearing off the debilitating block that had clouded over. His ponytail ended over his left shoulder but Zeke paid no mind to it. Instead he looked up at the Sigel, then the whale in his grasp, before putting on a bright yet shaky smile. "Your...Ah...Pet? Just startled me a little, it's alright. He has a nice voice though..." He trailed off and waved his hand as though waving the surprise off, but the concern that bad sandwich meat was affecting made him point to Beauregard, who he just noticed had a little bow tie, and put on a wide-eyed, almost naive look. "Is that a whale? Seriously? Or are the things in my sandwich outdated and I'm just feeling the effects of tainted meat?"

Zeke kept his eyes on the whale for a moment but Rivener leaning in made him turn. The Raevan's expression and question made him laugh. "Of course I know where I am! Sitting out front of Monty's Delicatessen on the corner of East and Sinclare!" His confused expression lifted and instead he displayed a good humored grin to Rivener, though it flickered as he took in the Sigel at such a close proximity. Red and black clothing (though he wore little) and accessories, horns, deadly looking wings, hair streaked with red, but the feature that caught his attention quicker than the rest--

"Rivener is older. He has a full stomach."

A snippet of Zul's voice from the conversation they had at the Raevan and his caretaker's home popped up in his head. Even though he had never met this Raevan, he had a feeling he already knew who it was. But, rather than assume either way, he asked in a polite but moderately curious voice. "Say...Is your name Rivener by any chance?"

If this guy was an escaped mental patient, he was the most coherent and clear-headed one Riv had ever seen. The Scorpion straightened as he took in all the answers, re-evaluating the situation. Okay, so perhaps he wasn't a nutcase on the lam. That would explain the nametag, which most nutcases didn't wear. The presence of the wagon was the most unsettling thing, Riv decided. What kind of normal person tugged around a Radio Flyer?

The dual-haired human mentioned specifically that he was outside a Deli. Rivener could therefore assume he'd been IN the deli before, and that lunch that was half-eaten certainly wasn't from there... so perhaps he was fetching a huge lot of food? Hm, maybe. Riv would ask, but the last thing Zeke said caused him to become quite distracted, wings flaring open defensively as he pulled back a step, clutching Beauregard closer to his chest, the little whale's body giving a rubbery squeak as it squished against the Scorpion's skin.

"How do you know me?" Riv asked, instantly suspicious. There was no WAY he was going to answer anything about Beauregard without first making sure this guy wasn't some weird stalker or something. "You better 'fess up quick, human." Red eyes narrowed to threatening slits. Stalker or no, Psychic or no, Rivener wasn't afraid of whatever this guy turned out to be. He'd sting if he had to, and his raising wings prepared for the attack.

He certainly was expecting a question if this Raevan was Rivener, but the flaring of the wings and the defensive positioning made Zeke think he had offended or angered the Sigel. In a quick motion he was on his feet, turned bodily toward the Raevan with his hands up and calloused palms facing out. Apologetic and slightly defensive on his own part, showing he meant no harm or dishonor on the Sigel.

"Hey now...Calm down." He kept all his focus, eye to eye, with Rivener, certain that was his name given how he just acted and what he said. His eyes flickered over as those wings were raised and other than being very big, Zeke noticed the stinger on each one. Oh hell, this wasn't going too well at all right now. He felt nervous and was looking the part as well as a small patch of sweat springing up on the nape of his neck, just underneath his off-white work shirt. In a situation like this with a human he would be rather diplomatic and formal, but being confronted by a being who he had very limited knowledge on, and who had dangerous looking spines on his wings, he felt himself lowering to that of a frightened man. The demand to cough up how he knew what the Raevan's name was made him shake slightly, his openly friendly smile had all but evaporated now. With a nod and keeping his hands raised he spoke up, giving the information demanded of him truthfully, and with no jokes.

"W-Well, you see, I guessed that was your name because you look exactly how Zul described you! You're red and black, you're...Ah..." He cleared his throat, slightly embarrassed to be repeating what the Frei had happily stated a few days previously on the veterinarian's surprise visit. "Wearing very little in the ways of clothing, and you've got a full stomach!" Zeke bent one finger of his right hand and pointed at the Sigel's abdomen. He knew Zul tossed in a couple more things, but they had all but escaped his mind at the moment, plus Zeke figured if he called the Raevan 'handsome', that might infuriate him more for whatever reason. The bi-color haired man put on another smile, shaky but friendly, and tossed that at Rivener, well aware that those people from the deli and across the way were staring at the two of them with wide eyes. "So yeah, that's how I figured! I didn't mean to offend you or anything! Really! I'm sorry Rivener!"

The first words had been "hey now, calm down". Not what Rivener had demanded in the way of an answer, and he bared his fangs, the narrowed eyes darkening to a glower. Riv floated forward a half-step, threatening. In his arms, Beauregard had started humming the fight song from Wrath of Khan, bulbous eyes wide in the face of this confrontation. If this white-coat-wearing man didn't answer in the next breath, Riv would attack!

Fortunately for Zeke, his next words were not only the answer Riv had asked for, they were also containing a very magical word. At the sound of that word Rivener's whole demeanor changed instantly. His wings snapped open in surprise as Riv's red eyes popped wide, and his threatening stance turned to a more mellow one, if a little taken back. "Zul?" Riv repeated, is breath hitching. This man knew Zul? And... And Zul had been telling him about Rivener? Stunned, the Sigel glanced down at his midsection when the human pointed to it, ruby orbs staring as though seeing it for the first time.

"Ah... Well, a-alright then."
Relaxing considerably, Riv folded his wings comfortably against his back and offered the dual-haired man an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that. I wasn't offended, or anything... It's just a little weird to meet some random person and they happen to know your name. Yes, I'm Rivener. Pleased to meet you, mister, ah... OH, and before I forget, yes this little guy is a whale. His name is Beauregard, and he's not MY pet per se... He belongs to my guardian's brother. We're just good friends." Riv petted Beaubeau's head before letting him go, the little whale shaking himself off and resuming a proper song, deep baritone voice carrying the tune to Sister Moon.

"Soooo, you're a friend of Zul's? ...What else did he say about me?" Riv blushed a bit as he asked, acting as unconcerned as he could while still paying extreme attention to the answer.

When Rivener floated forward, Zeke stepped back, calves tapping against the front of the wagon and making him jump from the sudden contact, foot catching in the long handle of the wagon and sending him a** first into the body of it. The whale's abrupt song made Zeke laugh once, the sound nervous but amused by the choice in tune for the moment, wincing at the shock that went up his tailbone from the short fall. The young man looked up through his lashes at the Raevan, expecting a strike or something, but it didn't come. His eyes opened fully and saw the change in demeanor and at Rivener's repeat of the demonic Frei's name, Zeke knew he would be okay. He nodded fervently, though, at the name agreeing with the male Raevan.

"Yes Zul." Zeke used the moment to pick himself up out of the wagon, hands going behind his back to dust off the seat of his jacket and pants. The apologetic smile was returned with a more relaxed and 'I'm okay' smile on the young man's part. "I should have expected you would have been a bit weird, so some of that was my fault." He left out saying something like 'But I wasn't expecting a reaction like that'. If he didn't offend the Sigel before, words like that probably would. "But now that's cleared up...Nice to meet you Rivener. My name's Zeke." He held out his right hand to the Sigel, an introductory habit finely ingrained that it just happened involuntarily. He looked to the whale as it was made clear that it was what it was and its name was given.

"A singing, flying whale." His face fell flat into a straight line as he watched Beauregard sing and float but after a moment or two it broke into a wide, giddy smile. "He's so COOL!" Zeke wanted to pet the strange creature, but he kept his hands down at his sides. Even as a veterinarian, when on the street he asked before he touched. "I've never seen anything like him before." He kept grinning at the whale before Rivener's questions made him turn to the Sigel. He shrugged a little to the first one, he didn't know Zul well enough yet to call him such, but 'acquaintance' worked better for the time being.

"Not really a 'friend', more like an acquaintance for now. I'm a friend of his caretaker, Alex, and I'm dating her older brother." His face colored lightly at the last fact, matching the blush Rivener had for an instant before it faded. Instead he smiled. "I only met him for the first time a couple days ago. He surprised me when I was going to surprise Alex and Brad but," A tickle got stuck in his throat and he turned to the side and coughed it out. "Excuse me. But Zul talked a bit about you. Along with those first things I said he called you 'handsome' and said you had 'an amazing smile'. Also said you two met on Valentine's Day, he knew you for half his life since he's seven months old, and he was pretty pleased every time he spoke of you. Uhm..." One hand raised and passed over the right side of his head, fingers barely grazing his mohawk, as he started sucking lightly on his lip ring, trying to remember what else the Frei had said. Nothing came at first but then one thing finally appeared. "Oh! And when I asked about Raevans when Alex was walking me in, he listed off a line of names. Yours was second or third from the end, but when he said your name he called you 'my Rivener'."
PostPosted: Thu May 21, 2009 11:22 am

Beauregard was enjoying the attention as the man's caramel eyes turned to watch him so unflinchingly. Smiling his best smile, the whale made sure to serenade wonderfully, swaying from side to side in mid-air, waggling his nonexistant brows at Zeke. How he loved attention! After all, what was a singer without an audience?

"Beau-beau is from the lab, the same place Zul and I came from. We also have a demon-sheep at home. He's... not so social, so I wouldn't walk him. But I'm glad you like Beau, here; he seems to have taken a shine to you as well, singing like that. Hahah, look at his flippers, he's so excited." Riv chuckled and pointed at the flapping fins, blushing. He was only trying to collect himself a little after hearing all that stuff Zul said about him. Handsome. Amazing smile. My Rivener. Argh, Riv's heart was thumping like crazy.

"Zeke, then, is it. Ah, s-so you know Alex. We know her well, too. Aphi, my guardian, I think he likes her. They're going on a date sometime soon." The Scorpion was doing his best to change the topic, not wanting to appear too desperate in his wish to talk about Zul. He had to remain mysterious, slightly aloof, even though this person was just an "acquaintance". It felt as though he was standing in front of Zul himself no matter who this Zeke was; Riv had to impress. He rustled his wings slightly and ran a hand through his hair, clearing his throat and finally regaining his composure fully.

"What's that for?" he pointed to the Radio Flyer. "Gotta admit, it's kind of silly-looking, a grown man carting that around. At first I thought you were mentally challenged, wandering around with your toy and wearing a doctor coat you stole from an orderly or something. Why ARE you wearing that coat, anyway? Work in a lab of some sort?" Riv tilted his head, speaking calmly and curiously, lacing his voice with just enough honey to be effective.

Beauregard's antics made Zeke laugh again and he applauded the red whale mid song for the wonderful performance. He really was a cool little whale and meeting him and Rivener was just the token his afternoon needed while he waited for the lunches to be made. "He's got a great voice, but then again, whales are known for their songs. Demon sheep?" He looked back to the Sigel with brows raised. That Lab three-oh-five place did and created a lot of interesting things! It made Zeke really want to go there, even if it was to only find out where exactly the building was. He looked back to Beauregard when the other figure gestured, the whale earning another grin from the veterinarian. "Mutual liking so soon! Awesome." His attention was diverted enough that he didn't see Rivener collect himself.

"Yup! Zeke Farris is my name, and I do. She's practically my sister already." He turned back and listened to Rivener explain, nodding to his words. "I was pulled in on that to help with preparing Alex. We all went dress shopping, and boy was that a trip." He received a call from Brad the other day asking him about playing peacekeeper between the two siblings when that excursion was going to commence. The older man picked him up from his apartment and told Zeke that he was a surprise for Alex and to wait outside their home. She was more than happy to see him when he was revealed to be behind door number one. Rivener's pointing to the wagon directed his thoughts from that trip to the now.

"The wagon?" He turned around and looked at it, realizing the long handle was between his feet so Zeke stepped over it and moved to the side. Rivener's words made him laugh out loud and shake his head with amusement. "I guess I do look rather out of place and moderately freakish! I'm used to looks though, so they don't bother me, but you're the first person to ever come up and say something like that." He stuck his hands into the pockets of the white coat and held it out, off-white button up shirt and navy blue tie fully shown when he did. "Nah, not a lab. Pretty close though. I'm a veterinarian at the Durem All-Animal Shelter and Clinic over on Christensen Drive," His face lit up with pride as he gave his occupation to the Sigel, one hand coming out of a pocket to toss his thumb over his shoulder in the direction of the building. "And presently it's my day and turn to order and fetch lunch for my co-workers. There's quite a few people, a lot of food, and I don't have a car, so that's why I have the wagon. Don't worry, I'm not escaped in any way. Mental? Maybe a little."

The honeyed tone of Rivener's voice wasn't needed, Zeke was all too happy to explain the situation and why he was dressed the way he was. Especially when he looked the way he did; dyed hair, many facial piercings, plus another piercing on his navel and several tattoos that were hidden under his clothes. His physical appearance really did screw with people sometimes, but he couldn't help but laugh then and now of course.
PostPosted: Thu May 21, 2009 12:46 pm

"Ah, so that's what it is," Riv mused aloud, looking down at the wagon. "There must be lots of people indeed, if you can't carry it all in a bag. At least the looks don't bother you, that's good." Riv smirked; he was used to looks too. Actually, they had quite a bit in common now that he bothered to think about it; two-colored hair, piercings... Although Zeke far outweighed him in the latter.

Hearing of Alex going to buy a dress for her date made Rivener snicker. They hadn't even set an actual DAY for that date, and yet both Guardians were rushing around fussing about it. Aphi's own clothes-shopping had been at relatively the same time, it seemed; and it was VERY entertaining. The Sigel wondered if Alex's had been as fun?

"So you're a vet. Hn, I wouldn't have guessed. But by the way Beaubeau flies around your head you must have a way with animals. ...If he ever got sick, would you be able to see Beauregard?" Riv suddenly showed more of an interest, crossing his arms as he peered at Zeke closely. The whale had never needed a vet before, but if something were ever to happen Riv didn't know who they might be able to call. Perhaps this Zeke person would be a good one to bring him to. "How about a demon-sheep? Or a tiny flying bat-thing? Or a gwee? ...Ah, our Gwee was a gift from Alex," the Scorpion declared as though it was necessary information, smiling. "If you can treat Lorenzo, then you could treat Munchies too, surely. DO you treat Lorenzo?"

"Quite a few, yeah. The clinic's pretty big so we've got a lot of veterinarians, volunteers, and the like working there. They don't all eat at the same time, but it's easier to just mass order and bring it all back in one trip." He raised his hand up and wiped his brow, which caused his right-swept bangs to lift and expose more piercings on his right brow and ear. "Nah they don't anymore. I've had myself looking this way for a few years now; this is me and a few stares on the street aren't going to make me change myself to look "normal"." His tone was nonchalant and he shrugged, looking at Rivener again. "You must get looks too, but you don't look like the kind of guy who cares what someone off the street would say about him. World needs more people like that in my opinion."

Rivener's snicker made Zeke grin. He also knew a day hadn't been chosen quite yet, but then again when he had been asked on a first date by Brad, which was on a weekend, the veterinarian had spent the rest of the week fretting over the little things. Turns out he hadn't been the only one but the event went smoothly and well regardless. He was sure that Alex's date, whenever it rolled around, would go just as well despite all the worrying. Both would probably end up feeling a little silly for running around like chickens with their heads cut off, but also feel like it was worth it.

"Most people wouldn't have either." He chuckled and looked up at the whale that was still singing around his head. He was about to agree to the 'way with animals' statement, but the question caught him off guard and he looked back at the Raevan to think it over. "Well, given he's a whale, I wouldn't know. Currently my skills are regular house animals with some room for birds, large farm animals, and lizards, and I have a minor degree in animal husbandry." His last qualification always sent him running whenever it was needed though, because all of those calls had been for horses or other large beasts that needed human help when their owners didn't think the natural way worked well enough. "But once I get my graduate degree I'll have more experience for exotic animals like your Beauregard. Though he's a bit more exotic than I've ever seen before. The clinic doesn't have a marine biologist as far as I know." He gave Rivener a sheepish smile which turned to a look of amazement and being bowled over at the Sigel continued.

"Demon sheep...Maybe. If he's kind of like a regular sheep in anatomy and the like. Bat-thing? Depends possibly, I'd have to see what that along with the sheep looks like I think. Gwee maybe, but I've never treated Lorenzo. I only saw him the one time I was in Alex's house and that was the first time I met Zul. Didn't interact much with him." He shook his head. "But as a whole, I think I'd be a bit more comfortable looking at them after I got my Master's Degree. I think my school has a class on native fauna...I'll look into signing up for it next semester. And anyway, if not me, we have a lot of highly qualified veterinarians at the clinic who would be more than happy to look at your pets, Rivener." Another clearing of the throat and Zeke turned to grab his bottle of lemonade, cracking the top and take a drink off it.
PostPosted: Thu May 21, 2009 1:56 pm

Rivener simply nodded and smirked rather smugly at Zeke's very accurate opinion; Riv couldn't care less what people said about him. The only one whose opinion suddenly mattered was the demon-frei they'd spoken of briefly... The rest of the time, Riv was content catching people's attention, and he only wore new clothes for his own inflated sense of vanity. There was no need to say so out loud. The two of them were alike in this as well, Riv added silently with a smile.

The topic then returned to the question of the vet's skills. It was more than disappointing to learn that most vets probably wouldn't know what to do with Beauregard if he ever fell ill. Thankfully that hadn't happened yet, and all things willing it never would. Although, the suggestion of a marine biologist was interesting. Perhaps he could get treated at the aquarium?

"Well, if you can at least be able to treat Gwees that'd be a big plus. Munchies is probably the most likely to fall sick, she chews everything. ...Ah, I think they're trying to get your attention," Riv said, pointing to the deli's window where a woman was tapping the glass softly towards Zeke. "I guess your order must be ready or something. Well, it was nice meeting you, Zeke Farris, who's going out with Brad, who knows Alex and Zul." Riv grinned. "If you see them again before I do, tell Zul I think of him too. Beaubeau, come on, enough bothering this guy." One clawed hand lifted and motioned for the whale to come closer, Beauregard did so sadly, little flippers drooping at the idea of leaving. He threw himself whole-heartedly into a rendition of "Baby Come Back", reaching out for Zeke like a scorned lover.

"Though maybe the best option for your sheep and Beauregard would be to have them treated at the Lab, should anything come up. You did say they came from there, so that might be the best place." He nodded as he spoke, the idea sounding like the best one. Coming from the Lab, the people working there would know how to properly check up on the Raevans and their pets. "I'll take a look into Gwee care. They are reptiles after all, and I do work at an all-animal clinic. Plus it wouldn't hurt to have a bit more knowledge." Sounded like a good way to pass a slow work afternoon or one of his breaks and Zeke smiled at Rivener as a silent thank you for the idea.

At the mention, Zeke looked to the window and waved, nodding again. "That they are. And if I don't get back to my clinic in a timely fashion, they'll blow my cell phone up with calls or send out a search party." He laughed at the long title and smiled again at the Sigel. "It was nice meeting you as well Rivener, and I shall do that if such a thing happens. Maybe we'll see each other again sometime." As Beauregard was called over, Zeke reached up and patted the rubbery whale's side. "Maybe I'll see you again too Beauregard, don't be sad. Oh!" He pulled a card out of his coat's breast pocket and handed it to Rivener. "My clinic's business card. Just in case your Gwee does get sick. We're unique in that we're open all night, so any time at all, you and your family don't have to hesitate."

Zeke stood on the spot, watching the two depart and waving at the red whale with the sad song with a friendly smile on his pierced lips. Once the two were out of his sight he picked and packed up what remained of his meal, tossed the sandwich out, and gripped the wagon handle. The door to the deli open and he hurried in, Radio Flyer clattering behind and soon to be filled with a large number of soups and sandwiches. Any more time spent chatting and he was sure that any search party sent out would be to claim the food and to leave him to walk back to work with his exotic hairstyle messed up for the rest of the day.
