"Seph, Seph..." The voice called.
A red haired male trudged behind a raven haired female, and while by looks alone it was a stretch to consider them related, their age differences only fortified that theory.
"Why do we need to even come here?" Seph said with a hint of annoyance, looking at the stores on either of side of him as they walked.
"Well, you need clothes... You can't wear that the rest of your life." She responded.
"And why not?" He refuted, as if he was seriously considering the proposition to be viable.
"You just... can't." She murmured, ignoring how unorthodox his current appearance was compared to everyone else's. She weaved through the crowd of people into a store and heading to the kid's section and beginning to huddle a pile of clothes. "So, this would look good on you and... this... and..."
"No. If I absolutely have to wear something different then I'll pick them out myself. I'll wander around by myself, alright?" His voice was stern, as if it was an order, not a request.
"But... Seph..." Her eyes fixated on the stub of his arm, and she began to choke up.
"I'll be fine." His voice was silky, reassuring - as if no harm could be done to him.
"I-"
"Perfectly fine." It had changed from silky to venomous.
She gave a prompt nod, and immeaditly darted off.
His lips curled into a smile as he sauntered to begin look through the racks of clothing.

Pollux had dressed down today. He was beginning to learn that people wanted to take pictures with him when he went out dressed like he normally did, and more often than not he was just assumed to be Japanese. Today was one of his first few days out on his own in a public place.
He searched through racks of clothing for nearly an hour, finding nothing his proper size. He was a petite little thing, and so he was forced to wander over toward the children's section. He had to admit...some of this stuff was cute! Dinosaurs and bright colors and the like. It would undoubtedly appear strange, as he was just wearing a baggy t-shirt and jeans (although he had too the time to put his hair up in two french braids). He looked very much like a frumpy girl.
And then he smelled it. What was that? Definitely not someone's perfume. There had to be a scent kid somewhere!
...oh, lookit the little boy in the weird garb. That must be him!
"I love your pants," he said offhandedly, giving the boy a smile. They were only perhaps 6 inches apart from seeing eye-to-eye.

Seph began to casually look through the racks, unimpressed with the selection. But then again, he didn't want to wear anything different - isn't wasn't a surprise he was rejecting all of these, then. He didn't seem right to discard something valuable to him - what he had began life with. He simply wouldn't stand for it. Plus, these colours were absolutely dreadful.
He heard a voice and turned his head to look at her... him? Looks could be deceiving, but the voice at least gave him the inclination that he was indeed a male. His eyes narrowed at the statement, not even looking down to examine his clothes. And the scent that was wandering into lungs made him step back, recognizing that whatever he was... it was just like him. "The same to you." He replied back in his silky sweet tone, though his eyes showed hostility.

"Your hair is great. You kinda remind me of my friend Tango," Polly smiled. He noted the anger, of course he did, but he chose to ignore it. The child could undoubtedly kick his a**, but he had a feeling someone else would be able to pry him off.
"You don't look the type for over here. C'mere. Lemmee show you. They got some stuff...kinda like what you're wearing. It's new...-ish." He waved for the child to follow and wandered to a rack half-hidden in the corner. It held clothes from XXS to XXL. Most people never thought to look there. Polly knew better.

The visible hostility turned to suspicion, watching the other male carefully. Tango? What kind of name was that? It didn't matter. He was intrigued as to why he could feel this sickeningly sweet smell around him. It didn't seem to have any power over him, other then it made him internally cringe. Much like the other did in general.
Like... what you're wearing. That made him analyze his clothes, and wondered how there would be anything that resembled what he was wearing. From the people he had seen, he looked nothing like them. He stood idle for a moment, even as the other waved - but decided to follow, as if the other was challenging him. He curiously glanced at the pile, beginning to sort through the clothes - they at least weren't as hideous as the other things they had seen. "They're not half-bad." He said off-hand, holding on up with his arm to examine it.

"I told you!" Polly chirped. He was unusually gleeful all the time, and he knew it was hard for people to deal with him, especially the more serious ones. There were indeed clothes like the child's...robe? Sure, robe, but the ones on the rack were coupled with pants. There were also normal t-shirts at his size in plain colors and with "badass" designs. Polly was good and judging what people wanted...most of the time.
"You just have to know where to look, is all."
One had to wonder where he found his cartoony "rawr means 'I love you' in dinosaur" shirt.

He internally recoiled at the cheerfulness, and wondered if it had been such a good idea to give a neutral comment. However, he merely stayed silent and continued to look through the things. They looked like what he was already wearing... but, it wasn't the same. Nothing could match up.
"I suppose so." He murmured, his eyes scanning through the array of colours. He found himself glazing over the articles of clothing, finally finishing with shaking his head. "Nothing can quite compare."

"Oh, I know the feeling," Polly said, voice lower and a bit sad, "I miss the clothes I had when I first arrived. It's a special kinda thing, but I still have 'em around! I just can't wear 'em. When yours start to get smelly, you'll regret keeping them on so long." He would never do such a thing. He took a shower every time he'd sweat.
But he figured!

The hushed voice was the first time that he felt like the other could actually empathize with him. However, it didn't help that the other seemed sad - a stark contrast from what seemed to be his normal behaviour. It almost made him pathetic and weak to be hanging onto them now. "I'm not saying that I won't eventually discard them, but that I should be the one to choose when that time is." He said with a casual tone, as if they weren't that important to him - like he could get rid of them at any time.

Polly looked to the boy and just blinked a couple of times. His bright eyes seemed...knowing. For all he was giddy and childlike, he had grown emotionally and was beginning to learn to read people.
"Of course. They're your security blanket. You were nothing, and then suddenly you were a child in the arms of a stranger. I understand."
Blinblink. ... Back to looking at clothes as if nothing had been said!

Seph looked over him as they stood silent for a moment, and wondered if perhaps, that the other was indeed capable of profound thinking despite his cheerful exterior. Perhaps. But despite the accurate description, he would refuse to admit to it. "I don't need these clothes to protect myself, I can do that on my very own." And he gave a small pause, "And I was never nothing." He seethed. Literally perhaps, but not figuratively.
And with that, he went back to looking back to clothes as well.

"Of course not. I'm starting to think all of us were...something before now," Polly shrugged, completely avoiding the conversation on clothing being a security blanket, "I was born twice, and didn't remember the first time until I was told. It makes me wonder if we aren't...something other than scent-kids and just forgot." He gave a little shrug, pulled out an XXL t-shirt with a skull and crossbones on it, and held it up to himself. Ah, yes, a perfect nightgown!

He wished he knew exactly what he was before he had been... nothing? He was thankful that during that period he had some consciousness, but it had been frightening not to have any control over anything. Being idle, without thoughts... "Born... twice?" He asked, arching his eyebrow in confusion. "Scent kids? Is that what they call us?" He inquired, wondering for the first time if he was from some seperate race altogether. But he shuddered at the thought of forgetting an entire lifetime.

"Born twice. I came out of oil once, someone put me back in, and then I came out again to a new family," Polly explained. He still wasn't entirely sure of it all himself.
"Scent kids is...um. Well, I think I heard 'Livia call us that once. We're all kids who come from oil, and we smell like our oil! I was bubblegum. I can't quite place yours. I look a lot more human than most. You got lucky and look all...cool."

"Does that happen to everyone?" He wasn't looking forward to being put back into that primitive state, powerless and nonexistent. "Family? What does that mean?" He blinked. The few days he had been with his owner he had read many books - that was where he had gotten his knowledge of the world. After all, the being he currently resided with didn't seem to be parting away with any information.
He didn't like the uncertainty in the other's voice, that he didn't know exactly what he - they were. "'Livia? Who is she?" He desperately wanted to meet anyone who could divulge more knowledge onto his current condition. I look a lot more human than most. He knew it wasn't intended to be an insult, but once again he felt his blood rise. Nothing about him seemed to be normal, that much he could tell from looking around him. "Lucky? You think I'm fortunate to be quite so imperfect, to get gazed at because it seems that nothing seems to be quite right with me?"
