This is the ongoing story of a world being attacked by Signs esque aliens. The object is to survive and help your friends do the same. The RP starts a few days before the invasion. Everyone is now arriving at the cabins. [To be improved upon]

You are enjoying your summer vacation with some friends at the cabin you all pitched in to rent. It is in the woods of New Hampshire on a property owned by a local tycoon who rents many of the cabins in the same area as vacation homes. The area is secluded from residential areas, however many of the cabins are within walking distance, and there are bathrooms and recreational areas shared amongst them. Only a few of the many cabins are occupied, and seemingly all the people here are within the same age group.
Not far from your cabin, there's a large natural lake. There are good spots for swimming, as well as a small store, called Highwater Bait, that rents out boats and fishing gear. It is also a small convenience store. The owner of the store is a kindly old man named Melvin Highwater. Melvin has a young adult daughter, Kathleen, who is off at Penn State taking summer courses to get her GPA up, thus leaving Melvin alone for a few months. Melvin lives in the apartment above HB. He is very friendly and always welcomes company with open arms. Melvin is also quite knowledgeable about many subjects and will often come down to the communal campfire to tell stories. Some real, some fake.
You are just settling in now, unaware of the horror that awaits you in a few days.

Rules: 1. Always be kind and courteous, however, pretend infighting between characters is okay AS LONG AS IT IS ONLY PRETEND. This is a situation of fear and stress, so of course everyone will not always get along. 2. OP has final say over any actions, and I have the right to delete a character/post if I see something wrong with it. 3. Follow Gaias TOS, Guild rules, and the RP subforum rules. 4. This goes without beng said, but no godmoding. 5. At present, characters can only be human. In the future I will consider changing this rule and allowing people to make alien characters. 6. Melvin is an NPC of sorts and he is controlled by all players. Anyone controlling him MUST stick to his profile and control him along those lines. Example: Character 1 walks into the bait store to buy a soda. "Hi Character 1!" Melvin exclaims. Character 1 thinks to himself "What a friendly guy." 7. Aliens will be controlled similarly to Melvin. This is so the story can progress even if everyone isn't here. 8. Pets are allowed, but all cats must stay indoors, all small animals/birds/reptiles/fish must stay in cages. 9. You can pick your own cabin to stay in, or if you want a random cabin, roll 1 16 sided die. Your cabin is whatever letter corresponds to the number it lands on.

They are very fast and capable of jumping to rooftops. They have a fatal gas that emits from glands located on their wrists. Their only weakness is water, but the campers won't know this until they find out by accident. -Vanilla- eXe Name: Vanilla Bean Age:20 Appearance: Bio: At age 20, Vanilla is a typical young adult. She has a part time job at an animal clinic and is going to school to become a veterinarian. After all her hard work this year, she thought it was only right that she take the summer to unwind and hang out with her friends. That's why she decided to come along on this camping trip. She brought along her black and white Papillion, George Romero Bean, because she could only ask her mom to care for so many pets while she was gone, and because George was her constant companion anyway. Strength:Vanilla's bond with George is so great that the two will do anything necessary to protect each other. Weakness:Vanilla is very shy and reluctant to ask for help. After School ended, Naomi wanted to go somewhere for summer break before her senior year. She didn't know what to do or where to go. Her best friend suggested going to New Hampshire. Naomi accepted but went alone. She wanted time to herself, to figure out what she wanted to do with her life.

These are the maps. They are not to scale and they only serve to give you an idea of what the grounds look like. Feel free to post any maps you may make and I'll put them here. Map 1: There are 2 bedrooms in every cabin with 2 queen beds each. There is one common room per cabin, with a couch and a wood burning stove. In theory, there are 4 people to a cabin. You can choose to live in any cabin you want, whether it is occupied or not. That is, until it has reached it's maximum occupancy of 4 people. The 4 long buildings are the communal bathrooms. These each have 8 toilet stalls, 8 shower stalls, 8 sinks and 8 mirrors. The big space in the middle is the community campfire. It can be used to cook food or just to keep warm. Everyone is encouraged to go there at night to get to know each other, hang out with old friends, eat s'mores/whatever dinner foods you can cook on a campfire, and of course, listen to stories. Map 2: The building is Highwater Bait. The big blue area is the lake. Not shown is the area behind Highwater Baits with a dock and boats for rental. Now he has come to meet new people and start the beginning of his new life. Strength: Everybody underestimates his strenght as he dresses as a girl. He also have a very determined mind. After driving for hours to get up here, Vanilla finally arrived at the camp space. She parked her car in the parking lot and grabbed her bags and her map. She then set out into the woods. Following her map for about 1/2 mile, she reached a clearing in the woods. Here, there were 16 cabins surrounding a gigantic fire pit, already stocked with fresh wood waiting to burn. Each cabin had a giant letter painted on it in dark red paint that looked suspiciously like blood. "Why do I always thinks things like that?" Vanilla thought as she searched for Cabin D.
(I'll put up a bio of the aliens in the morning. Signs is probably the #1 on my list of favorite movies =3 We won't get to them anyway til after this weekend because I'll be away and I don't want to miss anything. For now let's just let the characters get to know each other and the area.)

Jack A.K.A Mia drove his bike beside the car and jumped off, swiping up his map of the area. "........ Oh!! I'm here!" He pointed out the area and grabbed his bag. " To the O cabin!!!" He said happily and walked/ran to the cabins.

When Vanilla found her cabin, she used the key given to her to open the door and went inside. The living room was spacious, with a green leather couch and a flat screen plasma television. She checked out the bedrooms. The first one had two full beds and one dresser. The second one was larger, with two full beds and two dressers. She chose this room and picked the bed near the window. Putting her things down on the bed, she began to unpack. Suddenly, she heard a loud cracking noise outside. She took her pocket knife and went to investigate.

After passing by miles of trees, Naomi finally decided to just park the truck and set off on foot. The camp is probably beyond the forest. Her instincts are sure of it. Her summer camp trip she went to when she was nine had the exact same path. 'Adventure in the Woods' the camp consuler(sp?) would say every 10 minutes some kid would whisper that we should of took the bus. Naomi grabbed her backpack from the bed of the truck and started her 'Adventure in the Woods'. Should of brought some bug spray. . .

Holding her knife close, Vanilla went across the path and over to the giant campfire. She still heard the loud noise, but in the open space it was nearly impossible to tell where it was coming from.

I knew I should have brought a map. The woods were dense, but Naomi had every intention of getting to the camp before sundown.
Half a mile and many bug bites later, Naomi finally got to the edge of the forest. "Yes! I finally made it!" She noticed a girl next to a campfire holding a knife. What is she doing? Oh well. She didn't care. All she cared about was getting to the cabin. Which was. . . Oh CRAP. I forgot which Cabin I'm in!. Hold it. She remembered about the paper she wrote down the information on. She checked her pockets. Found it! Cabin C. She began the long walk to her destined cabin.

Amongst the repeating noise, Vanilla heard a rustle in the trees. There was a new girl there, hurrying over to the same section her own cabin was in. The girl didn't seem to hear the noise at all. "That's so weird," Vanilla thought, as it was getting so loud it was hard for her to concentrate. She put her hands to her ears to try blocking it out, but no matter what she did it wouldn't go away.
