Why is everyone so traumatized over L dying? Raito has been the main character sinse the beginning of the first book, so you had to know that L would be killed off sooner or later.
I like L, he was a complete genius. Nobody could give Raito a run for his money like L did, but his death was nessesairy at some point in the seriese. Granted, the story kinda sucks now without him, but i still think it was nessesairy.
Why the tears?

I was shocked about L's death, but I wasn't horribly upset... I would have been much more upset if Misa had died... In fact, I'm surprised Misa HASN'T died yet... I'm not complaining, though. *huggles Misa*

L was just too damn infectious. I wasn't traumatized by his death, I was expecting it because like you said, Raito is the main character not him. I do still miss him a lot though. Death Note lost it's edge when he died, even with his little clone-boy Near and the insane chocoate atic Mello taking his place.

I wasn't that bothered about the loss of L as such... However, Nia and Mello just haven't lived up to expectation (at least yet) for me

I was morbidly depressed when L died. confused I swore I'd only continue reading as long as Raito died as well in the end.... but then Near and Mello came along.... I was happy. whee
You say L's death was inevitable but Raito's death could be the exact same thing simply because he IS the main character. It would be good closure to the manga; plus it would be JUSTICE!

It would be good closure to the manga; plus it would be JUSTICE! I wouldn't be really surprise if Raito ended up dying too... actually I hope he does. The b*****d definitely deserves it. And besides, Mikami can manage on his own...

My friend tried to make an L memorial with ice-cream sticks to make me feel better but I told her not to because L isn't dead biggrin He's just at some faraway place...
Usually they wouldn't kill off a main character so early in the series like volume seven. I never expected him to die so fast!

The Missing Puzzle Piece I was traumatized when L died, even though I pretty much expected it. Usually they wouldn't kill off a main character so early in the series like volume seven. I never expected him to die so fast! Well it wasn't like there was much left that could of happened between him and Light... so the only thing left probably was to kill him off and move onto Near and Mello.

Raito might die.... it *would* be good closure... but i doubt it. If he does die, then they will probably make a new character to take his place as Kira, cuz they cant just say his whole mission failed... then there would be no point.
I dont think he deserves it though... sure hes become an evil b*****d, and sure he killed some innocent people, but its been stated several times that he actually is making the world a better place by killing criminals. Weather it's out of fear or not.

Weather it's out of fear or not. If others could continue on after Light dies, I'm sure they would. I know Mikami would without a doubt. The big question about that though is if they'd get the chance or not. I mean... it isn't Ryuuku's only Death Note now. And eventually he'd want it back unless people keep doing the eyes deal with him, which I wouldn't doubt.

My point was that there are several spots in the book that state specifically that killing all the criminals has made people afraid to commit crimes from fear for their lives. Its not a very moral way of making the world better, but it worked.

yeah, it was somewhat obvious that raito would come up with some plan to kill L
I'm just kinda annoyed at what's her face's stupidity, or extreme love for raito
I really liked L
he was really smart and i liked the way he sat...
