I was looking over the items in the Runescape Grand Exchange on the Runescap4 website and noticed that a lot of resources are decreasing in prices over the last few weeks. I know there are ups and downs but there are no to little ups.Their are only a few factors why prices are decreasing.
1. Demand --- the demand of resources is low; this causes resources to build up causing items to be sold slowly. To be sold at a faster rate, the prices drop until they are in reasonable price and still make a profit.
2. No longer for the item-- The item becomes obsolete. Once again. To be sold at a faster rate, the prices drop.
3. Merchants being greedy--- They buy for low and sell for high. But they keep buying for low that the increase of the price hardly goes up.
4. Familiars-- Familiars are a great help when getting supplies in Runescape and since they are a help the rate of getting supplies increases and thus prices go down because of option number 1.
What do all these have in common? Too much resources.
Back in 2006, I believe, JaGEx released the new skill Construction. This new skill greatly reduce the money and items in runescape. There was, close to, a recession (Slow down in economic activity over a sustained period of time) but not only that the demand for items increased and the prices went up. So now, three years later, the only solutions to cause a Recession. How can Runescape have "Recession" so the demand of items can be sold and prices will rocket up?
Discuss:
Ways to cause a recession in Runescape. *Recession in this case is to cut down and have a stable economy*

My take on this is simply; People are gathering their own supplies because they want to use their money for other likes.
People are getting angry, man, upset, whatever because people aren't buying, so they keep lowering and lowering their prices in hopes of selling but still, no one buys.
That caused the prices to drop, so people start holding on to things hoping the prices will go back up but they wont.
People need to stop being self reliant, and start buying. Runescape gold does in fact grow on trees. It will always be there so you can always get more. Unless you get your sorry a** banned.
That's all I'd like to say at this point.

Ok, an idea popped into my head when I was talking to bombi about this... but he spaz out and wrote his plans if he could make events and stuff that was really cool actually. Anyways, the plan was quite simple, or complex now that I think about it.
There will be an event that takes place one whole week per month. An event that takes place rarely will have addiction and will not lose interest, not only that figure out stuff and game place will always change and be developed differently every game play.
The event I am talking about is so big that it only takes place in a few worlds, like bounty hunter worlds. This event is my own random idea.
Players are teleported to an island with a four story castle. Players are to help the kingdom by gather resources, using up resources, and protecting the king from hordes, waves, and boss like creatures.
The city has limited, yet, infinite resources but not enough to stand against the horde of monsters.
There are several ways that this event plays, not only to combat players but for skillers as well. Players will fight and kill monster after monster but over time monsters will destroy the castle walls, workshops, take your resources and whatever the kingdom has until everything in the kingdom is dead or until the big a** last boss is destroyed. Players are able to repair the walls with bricks that they have mined, heal players with food that they made, make weapons and armor, make catapults, set fire, build brackets, set up traps, farm herbs and food, cut down trees to make arrows or boats... use every resources and skill you have to protect the kingdom! The more players, the better... and harder yet more enjoyable game play.
It sounds simple but how does this lower resources in Runescape? Well, players are able to bring resources from outside the world into this event, since this island has limited resources, yet infinite (it take forever to mine tin ore lets just say).
Ok, there are waves of monster and there are boss monsters. These monsters are really powerful and have mega health and special abilities that it takes team work to kill them but they will die, but the big mother all of is the big a** last boss. This boss will destroy, kill, and do much chaos and destruction in minutes! If you are able to kill this with your group of people, you guys are GODS.
Anyways, this game is meant to spend and use up resources, not gain them back for rewards.. kind of sad right? But, the reward is get items for your own character and special benefits.
Since this event is a week long for a month, afterwards people will know that they will need to collect resources again. Since, they are in DEMAND at the time of the event, items were bought at high price... now that the event is over people can rebuild the resources and wait until the event.
(Just an idea)

Here's my take on it!
As you guys know when dragon items were first introduced they were high in demand and high in price! You may be saying we already knew this but think this way! When dragon came out everyone's demand for the armor and weapons rose the items prices exponentionally high and as everyone began to buy the armor the demand for theese items were stil increasing. Okay you may still know that but let me continue. With the additions to the dragon armor mainly the dragon full helmet the prices of this helmet mixed with its rarity futher flutiated the runescape economy. But when the demand for dragon full helms price crashed down to 8 million more and more memebers rushed to buy theese helmets again therefore raising the demand for them and there price once again and this didn't stop until.
Until the dragon platebody came out which was relatively moderate to find the peices of it and create a platebody for only 1 million then in turn sell them for upwards of twenty million thus again influtiating the economy again. There for greedy merchants began to create and sell theese platebodies at a alarming rate decreasing the value of theese platebodies there for making the price of the dragon full helmet once more drop.
And heres my conterversie what will happen to the economic standing of runescape when the dragon kitesheild comes out? Will the economy drop exponintionally orbring in high revenues to our economy in runescape?
And does Jagex ltd know what will happen when they realease such a item onto the greedy merchants of runescape's present or do they just ignore theese type of things just to make some players satisfied by realeasing this item? Do they really even care they can just sit back and watch the economic structure in crash in the same way are global economy really his in reality? Jagex is he more interested in balancing this problem or creating a bigger one by realesing this item onto us? The conterversie of our precious dragon metals is it a beautiful metal or is it the runescape great depression starter? I would post this in the forums of runescape for answers but i'm a non memeber and can not so is there anyone brave enough to take on Jagex with this problem in his forums or are we going to sit back and watch our beloved economic structure die like a lvl 3 against the corpreal beast? The-Fallen-Clan Leader DaVontaye on dragon conterversie! Thanks for reading my conterversy!
