Eden sank her bottom jaw into the water's surface, catching as much of the water as she could and downing it. The sun was extra hot today, and her dark fur didn't help much. She stood straight again, shaking her head to dry her chin and some of her chest. She was panting! She hadn't panted since leaving the west! This heat wave was a terrible one. Trotting back over to the shade of the tree, she plopped her self down for a nap.

Taronja thought he smelled water. But it could be a mirage thrown about by the heat wave that baked the forest. While cooler than other helixes thanks to his brighter coat of orange and yellow, he couldn't escape the sweltering that ravaged the land.
There it was again. Water.
He lifted his nose quickly, inahling as much of the light breeze as possible, and followed the enticing scent of liquid to it's source. He drank deeply, but slowly. Too much water too fast made for a miserable stomach later on. He looked up suddenly, water bouncing from his chin to the surface, and turned, realizing another was about, and they were not Edon.

Eden felt sudden tension in the air and realized, some one has either spotted her or they were fearing something else around the area. Her eyes darted open and laid directly on the flaming helix. Sure this was a mirage! A helix, one fire?! In this heat, it seemed almost believable.
She tilted her ears forward, and her head to the side. Hmm.. it didn't appear to be much bigger than her. By his features and (strong) scent, it was male. It was looking around like something was after him. On edge now, Eden spared glances around her, looking for an attack. None. Good.
Her eyes laid back on the boy, her interest growing. Her tilted her head from right to left, trying to decide whether she was crazy from the heat, or he was just simply blessed with an elaborate pelt.

Taronja noticed movement out of the corner of his left eye. He wheeled quickly, spotting the helix as he turned. They were laying under the tree, staring at him as if he were something interesting. He blinked once, twice, then walked forward, eyeing the female with caution.
She was about the same size, with a darker pelt that he knew was good for cold weather. In this heat however, it would be brutal.
"Hello." He said, stopping with ample space to run if he needed to.

Eden was relieved to see he it was the latter. Her eye brows rose with surprise. He was addressing her? Interesting. Normally she was called to make the first move in conversing with other. "Good evening." she replied with a nod.
She remained laying her spot, smiling some at the boy. "Would you like to join me in the shade?" she offered, politely. "There's plenty of room and its cool compared to the sun right now.
His fur was so bright, the sun was reflecting on his back and sort of burning her eyes.

He smiled sweetly, saying "Shade would be lovely. The sun is extremely hot today. Even for one so close to fire." He added as he strode over to the shade and sat down carefully, nerves taut for danger in the famale's body language.
"My name is Taronja." He said, staring at the eyes of the female. "What are you called?"

She looked up at him, no longer feeling threatened by him. "I'm Eden." she smiled again, resting her head on her folded paws. She looked up at him, grinning. "Your pelt is quite handsome." she flirtatiously complimented him. Everyone deserved an ego boost once in a while, plus she could easily burst his bubble just as much as she can blow it up.
She yawned, stretching out her paws and curling her back in. It cracked and popped, making Eden sigh pleasantly with satisfaction. She sat up then, shaking her fur of the grass that had gathered on her while laying in her comfy spot. "Its nice to meet you, Taronja."

"Eden." he said, saying it slowly to make sure he pronounced it correctly. "That sounds similar to someone I have met before." He lowered his head in a half bow, saying "Thank you for the compliment. However it is such a waste of pretty words on me, when you are the one who is more deserving." His eyes glittered with amusement "You must be the reason the sun shines so brightly. He is jealous of being outshone by you, lady."
He watched her stretch with mild fascination, and said "It is nice to meet you as well." His tail twisted quietly around his paws as he spoke, tip flickering back and forth.

Eden smiled wider at his compliment, though cheesy, it was also flattering. She smirked at him, finding him very interesting... and cute. "The pleasure-" she emphasized. "-Is all mine, Taronja." she smiled more slyly, flirting more. Her favorite hobby you might say.
She stood and walked around the tree, peeking around the other side at Taronja, the same smile perched on her maw. "So. Where have you wondered from? If I may so ask." she laughed under breath, tilting her head at him curiously.

"I came" He said, watching her rise and wander behind a tree "From the west a great distance." He rose slowly, peering around the tree, maw turned in a charming smile. "I was chased away from my pack a while back. Been wandering ever since." This femme was interesting he thought to himself. She wasn't weary of him at all, and Eden was fun to talk to. He laughed quietly.

She froze and her eyes got wide, jaw dropping. "No way!" she gasped, gaping at him. "I'm from the west!" she smiled and leaped over to him, getting closer than she normally would. "Me and my brothers, all of us!" she giggled with happiness. Someone was in the same predicament as her! This was unbelievable, at least to her.
"When my parents died, we all came here." she hadn't smiled that big in some time. She sighed, backing away from him, figuring the space was uncomfortable.. coming down from her excitement, she herself was a little uncomfortable.

His eyes widened as he said "You are!? Thats interesting! Maybe we lived near eachother."
She was very close now. He could feel her excitement as close as the oppressive heat. He coughed once, then twice, feeling slightly embarassed by the closeness. As she backed away, he smiled politely. How strange that they were both from the west...hopefully she had left before Taronja's aunt had gone insane and started too many rumors...

She sat down, her smile slipping slowly. "..My parents died in a fire while they were hunting.. me and my brothers watched it all." she'd ended in a whisper, her head hanging to hide her face from Taronja. She'd felt like she could of done something to save them.. anything but sitting and watch them, trapped and helpless...
Shaking the thoughts from her, she lifted her head. She spared a glance at his expression to see what he thought of her little bit of history. Probably thought she was senial or weak. For some reason, she really didn't want him to think that of her...

A sadness came over him, and Taronja found himself drawn closer to her, placing a paw on her dark shoulder in a gesture of comfort. So she too had a distressing past. Her family was gone too...
"At least you knew them." he said quietly, trying to look into her eyes "At least you knew you had a mother and a father, could see them every day...sleep by them every night." his voice tightened irritatingly. He was trying to make her smile, sigh, anything "You can remember their faces.....hear their voices. I don't even have that. I didn't even have siblings to share the pain of loss with."

Her frown deepened. "You're alone?" she didn't like that. He was an interesting person and should have people to take care of him, help him... Wonder of Eris and Eros would have a problem with a new addition? Hm.. So far only Ravenfall had joined the 'pack.'
She smiled up at him, her eyes glossy and wide. "You could still have that.. you don't have to be related to have family." she told him, standing and moving closer. "As long as they care, and you care for them, thats just as good as family." She really liked Taronja... maybe a new friend?
