Being an errand-boy wasn't so bad, Yvalm thought when walking down the street. He was slowly trying to brainwash himself to think positive. There had to be something positive in getting out of the mage's tower and to deliver a package. Unfortunately, he was failing in it, for he knew his master well enough. It wasn’t only a simple errand. He was tested again. Was it third or fourth time this week? The young mage had only been told to deliver the package to specific house. He hadn’t even been told the information what the package held inside. It could have been poison, a precious spider or even a piece of rock. The latter wouldn’t be much of a surprise. For his master had strange style of humour, even to the point where Yvalm considered his master to be a bit on the insane side. The signs of insanity or paranoid could have been seen from the way he always came up reasons to chain his young protégé. Even now Yvalm was again chained, this time to the package. The words of not being able to loose it as it was chained, didn't ease Yvalm's mind. If anything such a sight would only get thieves interested. “Why can’t I be back at the tower, reading a book and practising of controlling my magic? Delivering packages are the job of slaves.” The young mage sighed to himself when thinking about his task. Feeling a bit moody over the task, Yvalm’as continued walking down the street. The town’s blue light gave a good glow around where he was walking. The shadows were nicely visible, other drows were walking and doing their business and a small slave caravan was moving towards the square to be auctioned off to high ranking houses or to other houses.

((RP note: This is a past occurance. Meaning Xunner has not yet lost his eye or obtained his scar. He also has not had his ill fated encounter with the merc group))"You are certain?" Xunner spoke softly into the ear of the silver charm wrapped about his wrist. His bright purple eyes watched the black haired male in his rather intrigueing chains walking the street. Xunner had taken up lounging in the gap between two buildings while waiting for his target. He had not realized the servant sent to deliver the item was going to be chained to it though. This would make it increaseingly difficult to steal the box away from the male.
So then what ought he do? He supposed he could just kill the male...but from the glimpse he gained Xunner had to admitt that would be such a waste of flesh. How long had it been since he'd dragged anything off to play with? He could summon a demon to possess the male, then bind it so he could have it follow him someplace more private to have his fun. And honestly...Xunner loathed to just send a soul freely wafting away by simply killing it.
But he really did want that box. If the object within was what his familar had told him it was...it would be incredibly useful. How to go about claiming it though? A simple grab maybe? Xunner did love getting physical. particularly with slender males that did not look like they posed a real threat to him. Then again... he could have a secret like himself. Well...the choice was obvious wasn't it?
He'd trap the male, learn what he needed to, and then make his descion!
Xunner slipped back into the gap and picked up his pace until he was trotting swiftly through the slim ally ways. He needed to get ahead of the male. Perhaps a summoned creature could startle him and chase him int he direction Xunner wanted? That would work...he'd send something to test the male, and see if his response was anything he ought to be worried about...
Xunner came to a place further ahead of Yvalm. He peered out the small allyway and down the street to confirm Yvalm was still walking in the direction leading to him. Once done he ducked back into the ally way. Useing his staff, he quickly drew a circle on the stone, leaving only the faintest of black marks in it's passing. Once he had completed the circle, he stepped forwards and began to mutter a incantation under his breath. he needed something dangerouse enough that the male would not want to tangle with it, something frightening enough that it would chase the male where he wished it to go. Hopefully the male would not be aware he was being herded and would make the err of running right into Xunner's trap.
Xunner chose for his creature to be summoned directly across the street from him, in a allyway that looked rather clear. A large pony sized wolf with black fur and softly glowing read eyes materialized as he finished the summoning spell. Xunner had chosen to summon a fiendish dire wolf. A nasty and evil creature, Xunner was able to use his telepathy to order the beast to remain still and hidden while he peered out the ally and watched Yvalm's progress.
~ There is a male. Black hair, black eyes. Chained to a box. He will pass by your hiding place in a moment. When he does, you are to engage him. leap forwards and attempt to frighten him into running down this ally I am hidden in. Do not harm him. Not unless he proves to be aggressive and attacks.~ Xunner sent his thoughts to the wolf, and recieved a unpleasent growl in return. Oh yes. he was well aware of the creatures dissatisfaction in being summoned. But -he- was the master here and the wolf would obay. Xunner slunk back further into the ally until he had stepped past his prepared circle. All he needed was for the male to step within it...and then he'd have him!

The errand boy was walking innocently down the street without knowing the plans made for him to be captured. He was rather curiously looking around himself and even had started to enjoy it a bit. It only had taken him to invent a little game to occupy his mind and he had started to enjoy it. Even his magic was strangely being all ‘good boy’ and behaving itself. In all it seemed like a good day.
It was a good day, until he heard a growl. Like any frightened animal, Yvalm too stiffened and slowly turned to look at where the noise had come from. What he saw was something he hadn’t even thought to see. That’s one big wolf. It was strange how fast the brain started to process information as adrenaline surged through the veins. It was strange what little details the mind could pick upon when faced with danger.
That’s no illusion. Not this time. It has a shadow. Illusions don’t cast shadows, not that way anyway. Yvalm slowly started to pack away and to his horror the wolf followed him. It hadn’t jumped yet to claw him or what ever such big wolves did and the young mage knew well enough not to turn and… “KYAAAAH! A beast!” Do something stupid like the other elves on the street. There were sounds of running and horrified voices from slaves.
What amazed Yvalm was the fact, the beast kept his eyes on him instead of turning to look at the running elves. Didn’t it have the instinct to bounce after everything that ran away from it? Didn’t it want to chase after its prey? Yvalm swallowed, as there was another growl. The beast clearly was growing impatient over his inactivity. It was opening its mouth and… What a big mouth you have.
Yvalm felt the instinct of running, but he forced his feet to stay put. This is just one of those stupid tests master puts me through. See? The beast snaps at me, trying to make me step away without harming me. It was so, now that Yvalm thought about it. The knowledge made the situation much more stranger for his master wouldn’t have bothered to keep the beast from harming him. He had some scars on his body as proof of it.
The beast seemed intelligent enough. It even had some gleam in its eyes. Correction the gleam looked a lot more of naked hatred, maddening desire to rip him apart and desire to taste his blood. Still there was intelligence and why not trying to reason with a beast. It couldn’t be the most idiotic thing he had done. “I’m not going to run like some scared prey. Instead of it, you should run back to the master and tell I’m not impressed. If you won’t someone will get hurt.” Probably me, but its not something the wolf needs to know.

Xunner crouched himself down, his staff was clutched to his chest, and he waited expectantly. The screams from the street alerted him to the actions of his summoned beast, and he shifted on his tip toes as he prepared to activate the magic circle.
The fiendish beast prowled forwards. It's fangs bared as it waited eagerly for the drow before it to do something it could take advantage of and state had been an attack. Instead though, the male appeared to be keeping his calm, which aggrivated the hateful angry creature. It's ire at being summoned and controlled remained controlled in accordance to it's summoners wishes. The wolf lowered it's head a little, and he stalked himself forwards with each step he managed to make Yvas move backwards.
The wolf attempted to direct Yvas towards the allyway as he had been instructed. The attempts of the drow to convince it to leave him alone resulted in nothing more then a deep growl on the wolf's part.
Xunner peered down the ally, his brows furrowing as his target had not fled as he had haoped. Perhaps he should have summoned more then one wolf? but really...he didn't want to make a big scene of this, it would draw too much attention. Not that he wasn't sure it hadn't already. Maybe he ought to just...step up behind the male while he was focused on the wolf and clock him upside the head with his staff?

There was just another growl for Yvalm’s recommendation. The dark drow had been expecting it, but his words had given him some time and it had distracted the beast – at least he hoped it had. For the young mage had started to reach out for the Shadow Realm. He had been taught how to do it, but he had avoided of doing it in such a public place and with such a dangerous opponent. Who knew what would happen when the beast would find out?
Unknowing to Yvalm he was directly in front of the alleyway where Xunner was hiding in. His entire concentration was on the beast and contacting the shadow the beast resided in and coercing the Shadow Realm to do his bidding. It wouldn’t take long. He was just finishing up the spell.
If Xunner wouldn’t get there, quietly and indeed clock Yvalm unconscious, the young mage would finish up his spell and bind the beast to where it was standing. Then he would chuckle slightly and sidestep the trouble while keeping his eyes on the wolf. “Sorry, I have a delivery to make.” Then he would back away to the direction he had been heading. He wouldn’t let his eyes leave the beast, who was standing still like a statue, until he would feel the strain of keeping the shadow where it should be. When near his exhaustion, he would let go of the spell, turn and finally let his feet move as fast as possible. He had finally found the will to run.
Then again, if Yvalm would be hit into the head, he would fall down on the street unconscious of what was going on around him. The hair would fall around him and the hand holding the package would let go. The chain would drop down to the street rattling and the package would make a nice heavy sound when connecting with the ground.

This was taking far too long. The longer he did not snag his prey the more likely someone would intervene. well, the odds of that were low but eventually something would happen and he'd miss his chance. Plus, his target would also be quite forwarned that something was after him and he'd be more on guard.
Xunner really wasn't good at being pacient.
The black male was still busy with his summoned wolf. his attention was directed elsewhere...so Xunner stepped up from his hiding place. Very gently he tip toed down the ally. Just stay distracted...a little longer...
Xunner lifted his staff, and brought it down on Yvas's skull. He felt like such a damn barbarrian by resorting to such mundane means. Though, the manner the other drow hit the floor was rather satisfying. He went down so easily! Xunner stepped over the males body, at first his intention was to merely snatch up the box and open it. But...as he cast a glance down over his shoulder at the body.
Waste not...want not...
Xunner tucked his staff over his shoulder and into a special loophole on a back strap. Kneeling down, he nudged Yvalm over onto his back so he could give the male a better look over.
"Well now..." He murmured softly. Xunner lifted a hand to stroke at his chin. This male was apperantly rather...lovely. He had been so focused on the package he hadn't taken the time to admire the delivery boy's features. Xunner leaned forwards, and with a nod of his head, he directed the wold to kneel so he could drag Yvalm's body onto it's back.
"Seem's I'm getting double out of this." Xunner spoke confidently to the dire wolf as it rose under it's burden. Xunner colleced the box from the ground, and he tucked it under his arm cheerfully. Soon he'd have his prize, and a bonus! The question was...how he wanted to go about claiming it. It wasn't every day he came across a beauty like this male. Well, unless he took the time to glance into a mirror. Heh.
Xunner vainly flicked his fingers through his own black hair as he sauntered his way down the ally. It would take him a good ten minutes to proudly stalk his way back to the empty building tucked against the stone wall of the city that he had comendeered for his stay. He had marked the outside door and window with a obvious glowing sigil to warn away any would be thieves and murderers. It worked well enough. Most wise drow avoided conflict with a openly well prepared mage. Plus, the little bursts of fire that erupted when the occasional rodent tried to pass through the warded openings he was sure warned away the rest. This was one mage useing deadly force for his protection!
When the trio reached the open door, Xunner placed a hand upon both the wold, and Yvalm's cute and vulnerable a** before they passed through the barrier. Xunner felt the pleasently warm tingle of the magic sweeping over him, and then they were through. Xunner led the wolf to a room directly beyond the enterance. It was a small place, probably meant to double as a living area and shop at one point and time. Xunner suspected it's bad location is what killed the business...and the drow in the area killed anything else that may have lived here at one point.
he back room comprised of surpriseingly little. A stone table, four stone walls. Xunner's pack and travel gear...and that was about it. Staying here in this ramshackle place was saving him coins. But he really needed some work in order to rent the comforts he so greatly desired. Xunner gestured to a corner, and the wolf padded on over to it. Xunner followed, and he gently nudged the unconscious male down onto the floor.
"Mmmm." he murmured softly as he took advantage of the fact the male was unconscious. He allowed his fingers to gently wander over the pretty chains on his neck and wrists, then he set to work. He wasn't certain how long the male would remain out, but it had been nearly twenty minutes now and he shouldn't waste anymore time. Xunner lifted a finger to his lips, and he bit down upon the tip hard enough to draw a bit of blood. Carefully he drew a circle surrounding the male, something relatively small really. Five feet in radius so he would have a bit of movment room at least. He really would have rather tied the male up. it would have lost the effect though without a bed to lay him back upon.
Xunner took a step back, and uttered the arcane chant while pinching off a bit of dust from a pouch from his waist. Flicking it towards the circle, the blood immediatly began to glow faintly. "Magic Circle Against Evil." Xunner intoned softly as the glow burned into the floor. He had no doubt the male inside was evil of course. he -was- a drow. So he was confident that his new little toy would be utterly trapped within the circle until such a time that he removed it...or the spell wore out. Now! On to the package!!
The wolf sat itself down by the door. It's red eyes watching in irritation as Xunner collected the chained box..and paused. Perhaps it was trapped? With a flick of his wrist, Xunner casually tossed his familar fom it's containment charm. A small black object tumbled through the air, struck the wall, and dropped to the floor with a protesting squeal.
"Ah hush you pest. Come and open this for me." Xunner commanded as he thrust the box into the small creatures claws.
"Doi. Too scarid to do it yourselves?" The imp mocked Xunner as it carried the box a little ways away and started to open it with it's claws.

The darkness reigned. It usually did where Yvalm walked, but this time things were different. It wasn’t the comforting darkness, which the young drow had gotten accustomed. This was deeper and more menacing. For some reason he had also a feeling something really bad had happened. The feelings followed him to the real world as he slowly emerged from the unconsciousness.
The eyelashes fluttered a bit before the dark eyes were revealed behind them. To his luck he didn’t groan when waking up. He only moved slightly his head and blinked multiple times before his eyes started to focus. The sight what was in front of him made Yvalm doubt his eyes for a while.
The wolf was there. It hadn’t gone away or he hadn’t escaped from it. There also seemed to be another drow, bending on the package and ready to open it. Or was the imp trying to open it? Whatever was happening Yvalm did possibly the most idiotic thing he could do in the situation. He quietly took a hold of the package’s chain and yanked it hard. If the imp didn’t expect it, it might fly with the package or end up getting it ripped out of its hold. Never the less, Yvalm tried his best to get the package back to him.
The package was his responsibility. It was his mission. He hated to fail and he wasn’t going to loose. Then again now when he got all three pairs eyes drawn towards him, he wasn’t so sure anymore about winning. He was clearly overpowered.
He was in deep trouble.
Yvalm’s eyes took inside his surrounding fast. His master had taught him to notice small details and to come up with plans. For now he didn’t find any loopholes to his situation. He was in a middle of magic circle – not knowing what it might do to him – and probably imprisoned inside the house. Only one door he could notice and the walls were made from rock. No escapes. Only one-way out.
Still, for some reason he felt being a bit safe inside the circle. It was safer than outside there with all three of them.

Xunner watched impaciently as his familar struggled with the box. Honestly, if he had been willing to take the risk he'd have opened it himself. But Xunner was not about to take that kind of risk. The imp fussed with the box a bit, and then with a blink, it was ripped away. Both Xunner and the imp turned to look at the drow in the circle with more then a little obvious surprise.
"Hmm. Well I see you've finally woken up." Xunner commented slowly. He turned himself to face the male trapped in the corner, one of his hands gripped his staff firmly while the other pressed to his hip.
"Since it is that you've decided to take the box back, you can open it up for me." Xunner decided after a short period of thought. He lifted his hand from his hip and made a small gesture to urge the dark male to comply. He expected questions to be asked, or at least a demand or a refusal from the male. It was only natural after all. He'd surely have a few choice words of his own to speak if he were in such a position. Xunner lightly touched off on the wolf's mind to ensure that it was still guarding the door. If the male had been unable or unwilling to fight with the wolf before Xunner had little doubt he'd have the means to escape now.
His imp familar shuffled nervousely from one foot to the next. It's red eyes peered up at Xunner, then over at the chained drow whom he clicked his talons in agitation at.

The chain made a lot of noise when Yvalm drew the package back. He hadn’t gotten up or settled into any better position. His first priority had been the package. Now, that Yvalm had it next to him, the drow tried to slowly move. He came to regret it, for the room seemed to blur before his eyes and he almost felt his breakfast to come up.
He had to stop. Yvalm had to be still for seconds before moving again. Next time he moved it didn’t feel so bad. He had a terrible headache and his body felt heavy to move, but he got into sitting position and could really look at his capturer. The first thing Yvalm noticed was the staff. He didn’t have a one, but what he knew most of magic users carried such with them. Magic. Everything reeked off it, especially the circle he was inside.
It wasn’t a familiar circle. Yvalm couldn’t tell what it was supposed to do. Maybe it was to hold him inside just like his hold spell? It clearly isn’t shadow magic. Why didn’t you, a stranger choose shadow magic? Darkness is strongest of them all. The thoughts were interrupted by another thought. There had been words just a second ago.
Yvalm frowned and moved a hand to his head. His thoughts were scrambled and he felt like he had been hit on the head. Hard. He couldn’t get back the question – it had been a question – so instead he had to sign the stranger to repeat what he had said before. When he did hear the command again, there was only one answer. “No.” He was weak, he was vulnerable, but he wasn’t going to give up and be someone’s slave. He wasn’t going to grovel and carry out commands.

Hnnn.. Xunner watched as the male began to move, and then paused. He seemed to be taking care in his movements. Had Xunner struck him hard enough to be having ill effects even now? It seemed like a reasonable thought. He had struck him hard and the male had dropped quite easily. It was possible the male would be suffering some problems for a bit... but Xunner would have to take care that he did not underestimate the male and assume he was entierly helpless at the moment. Though it was a very nice thought to entertain.
Still... Xunner quirked one high eyebrow as the male touched his head and signed for him to repeat his question. Xunner carefully repeated his request. "Open the box." The return answer was not all that unexpected. Hmm, so now what course of action was he to take now? Xunner tilted his head in a manner to rause someof his black strands of hair to slip across his face.
"Let's make this simple shall we?" He slowly began to speak to the other male. Xunner brought his head back right, and he swept a few fingers through his hair to tuck it back behind his ear. "You are currently trapped in a confinement circle. There is merely one exit to this room and there is a beast blocking it. There are wards up upon this place to ensure no one may enter or exit without my assistance." Xunner gently flicked his fingers towards the male before him. "Now. I could spend the next few hours inflicting delightful bouts of pain and agony upon you. After which I would merely take the box and have my little imp here open it. But I really would rather not risk messing up that pretty flesh of yours. So shall we merely skip to the inevitable? Simply open the box. It's really the only wise choice." Xunner coaxed with his words. It reallt would be a shame to have to resort to his spells...oh..what was he thinking? If the male hadn't turned out to have such lovely dark features he would have eagerly jumped in the chance to play with him.

There was a moment of silence after his denial. Yvalm took every advantage of it for he knew he needed it badly because of his head. When the other drow started to talk again, Yvalm felt already a bit better. He only needed time to get himself in best shape he could. He needed his wits if he was going to get out of the trouble he was in. He had to be able to escape or make a deal.
“I can’t,” Yvalm informed and lifted his hand to rattle the chain. “My master told me, only the person who I’m delivering this to knows how to open it.” The black eyes blinked and then looked directly at the demonologist. After making sure he knew every detail of his capturer, Yvalm looked around himself once more. Yes, he was in the middle of a magic circle, but if that would be to change would he have a chance for escaping?
Was the roof made of rocks as the walls were? Was there any windows or cracks, which could be tried to enlarger? Every such detail was precious in the knowledge of escaping. Yvalm wanted more details of the magic being used, but he doubted he would get such information by just asking for it. “You can try to open the box, or let your imp open it, if you wish. But to do so you have to kill me, for I must guard the box with my life.” Maybe it wasn’t exactly true what he had said, but it was close enough. He wasn’t going to fail in his delivery and if chosen, he would rather die than fail.

"Mmm..." Xunner leaned a bit on his staff, and he tapped a finger to his lips throughtfully while Yvalm inspected the room he was within. Stone incorporated the make up of the entier room, as though it had been carved out of a solid stone black. Cracks due to age and abuse made appearances here and there in the stoney surfaces. The room itself had only the single stone carven doorway as it's entry and exit point. The massive shape of the wolf dominated the doorway though. In the gaps around it's furry frame, a second room could be made out.
"I am disinclined to believe." Xunner spoke after a moment of false consideration. His purple eyes fell upon the male in his circle. "If this were true you would not have felt the need to jerk the box back to you and out of my little imp's claws. Thus to me this means it can be opened and you simply don't want us to." Xunner extended one black finger, and he gently shook it from side to side. "Oh I'd rather avoid killing something as pretty as you. But don't misunderstand me. If that really is the case I can definatly put you to some good use first. Now...either open the box, or be a good captive and kick it back out here. The only way your really going to get out of here is if you co-operate after all.

In some other situation Yvalm would have appreciated the stone. He would have run his hand along the walls and admired how it looked when looking up at the ceiling. Now he only felt sinking feeling of being trapped and wanting to get out. He had couple of tricks up at his sleeve, but having three targets would be impossible. No, he would need to get rid off one and then he could start to consider how to get out.
When talking about the box, the young shadow mage turned his dark eyes for a moment to the box and then back to the other mage. He tilted his head a bit and then shook his head. It was the first sign of disagreeing again with his capturer. “I stopped you from opening it, as it could held anything inside.” There was a sigh.
“My master has a strange humor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it would have flash powder inside and it would light up when the box would be opened. I would like to avoid such a possibility.” Yvalm hated flash powder and bright crystals. He enjoyed being in darkness, like his master. “But if you insist opening it and finding out what is has inside…” Yvalm kicked the box, flinching when doing it and hoping it wouldn’t do anything harmful to its inside. Luckily it moved along the floor towards the mage without doing anything unpredictable. “… do it somewhere far away from me.”
