In his large mansion near the city of Ulalume Cassus sat at his desk mulling over several scrolls as his servants cleaned his office. Cassus called out and a man came in who looked around as though he was being followed.
"Were you sighted?"Cassus' dark tone was calm, almost bored and it was obvious that this made the man uncomfortable.
"No m'lord. I don't think so."Again the man looked around as if the world was out to get him.
"Calm down my friend, you are safe here. This is your contract, take the night off and collect yourself, in the morning the servant will be waiting for you. Remember the password for the Captain and don't forget the money. Also, make sure that they get my message, I want to make my presence known to the rebels."The frightened man bowed and left the room in a hurry and the servants in the room seemed to pay no mind to this even though it was talk of freeing on of there own

The cold and darkness was starting to get to her. Her whole body seemed to be raked with violent shivering. Even the freezing cold of the shackles on her wrists seemed to be warmer than the area around her. Libia breathed slightly warmer air into her hands and rubbed them. A puff of white smoke, as white as her hair, blew out of her blue-tinted lips. Her knees were curled into her body to attempt to keep the warmth.
The door to the dungeon she was housed in opened, and heavy, booted footsteps came almost forbodingly to stop at her cell. She clenched her jaw, her hurt pride not getting the better of her as a whimper tried to escape her throat. The man, masked and dressed accordingly to the fridgedness of the cell, unsheathed a knife and grabbed Libia's arm. She snarled at him and he just shook her in response. Bringing the knife to her skin, he cut deepy. Bright crimson blood rushed out and the man quickly gathered it in a large jar that would later be taken for the king or his guests. When the blood clotted, he released her. Libia crumpled into a heap on the floor and licked the wound on her arm. The man chuckled at this.
"That's right, little puppy. Lick your wounds."
He kicked her, hard, in the side and then slammed the door to the cell behind him, his footsteps echoing throughout the dungeon as he disappeared with one final clank of the dungeon door.

Cassus had been invited to a dinner party at a high ranking Lord's estate. Being one of the most influential people at the party Cassus was given a gift as a tribute. The gift was to be a Were Wolf slave, one that Cassus was sure to enjoy, or at least that was what the Lord had told him. He was given a glass with the wolf's blood; this was not unusual although Cassus despised the ritual. He drank the blood and thanked the Lord for his gift and went on for a while on how much he loved the slaves in his mansion and other garbage about how lesser the species was to theirs. After finishing dinner he went down to the dungeon alone and it was thought that he was going to deflower her or do some other horrid act to break her in. Instead, as he reached the door he opened it and looked at her for a moment.
"My name is Cassus Molvia, I am a vampire lord of the highest caliber and pledge my allegiance to no king but the last, as did my father, and so shall my sons. As of right now the others think that I am committing an act that I do not wish to speak of, when we leave, you will look broken or you will die. That means keep your head down and cry if you can muster tears. Do you understand?"Cassus' expression did not change; his voice was calm and detached as if he had said this a thousand times. When they reached his mansion he would be able to tell her the truth but he couldn't now, he wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

Libia lay on the floor for some time. How long, she didn't know. Her eyes wandered around, taking in the dark shadows and the meager light source, which was not fire, for that would warm this place up. God forbid it be a little less freezing. After she finally got her head to rest and her eyes to close, Libia's ears caught the sound of footsteps. She whimpered and scooted herself further into the shadows, at the back of her cell. This wouldn't lessen the punishment she recieved, but it gave her a false sense of hope. Finally, the figure came into view.
Who it was startled her. She had never seen this man before. Holding back a snarl, the kind that wild wolves would show to keep away other wolves in the instance that they were injured and did not want to seem so, Libia watched him carefully, sizing him up. As he spoke, she guadually began to sit up and listen closer. When he finished, she nodded quickly, her throat closing in fear. What act was this that he spoke of? What was he going to do with her? More importantly, was it warm where they were going? Oh how she missed the Haylin forests, where a warm breeze from the south blew through the trees to where Libia used to live.

Cassus sighed and grabbed her, he was surprisingly strong for a noble, but then again, nobility came with strength.
"Do not look any vampire in the eye as we leave, if you do I will be forced to hurt you."They began to walk up the stairs and out of the dungeon into the bustling hall. Cassus was greeted with smiles and clapping as if he had broken a slave like no one else could. As he went to leave the lord of the house stopped him, this was unusual. Usually he was allowed to leave with the slave but a guard was going to take her instead. His heart began to race, had they found out he was sneaking out were wolves back to their country, no, it couldn't be. He was always too careful, killing messengers and switching the vampire staff on a regular basis. He didn't want to look suspicious so he spoke to the man as the guard brought his newest slave to his coach.

Libia gritted her teeth as he yanked her off the ground by her arm. Her hands clenched and she nodded, her eyes immediately flitting to the floor as they exited the cell and dungeon. She stared at the shoes of people and growled in her mind as she stumbled behind Cassus. She tried so hard not to look up, but occasionally her eyes got to the dresses and other clothing of the nobles there. concentrating hard, Libia managed to get some tears to squeeze out. When the leader stopped him, she stumbled and bumped into Cassus. She jumped back quickly and bowed to them, having to swallow her pride in the process. The guard grabbed her arm and yanked her towards the exit where she assumed his coach would be.

Cassus finally broke away from the lord and was taken to his coach. Cassus was let in first and then the slave, the guard smirked as she was let in and said something crude about Cassus having his way with her before leaving. When the door was shut the coach began moving and Cassus began removing her chains and the like.
"Are you alright my dear, I'm sorry about all the unplesantness but you're in good hands now. We are going to my mansion in the country and once we are there I will leave you in the care of the were wolf matron. She is a kind old women and still refuses to leave back to her native lands even though I free slaves every day."

Libia let out a yelp as she was thrown into the coach by the guard. He chuckled at her before turning and saying something to her new master. She glared a bit at him, then looked down. Should she trust him? For now, no, she could not. What was there to trust? Vampires weren't the most trusted of species. When he stepped into the coach and shut the door, she righted herself on a seat and watched in surprise as he released the cuffs on her hands and spoke. Another werewolf? Freeing slaves? What was this?
"I...I don't quite understand..." She said softly, surprised at the sound of her voice, for she had not heard it in a while. "You're... going to free me?" She looked at him and stared into his eyes with piercing azure eyes. "I don't think I can trust you..." She admitted openly.

x.★.x.★.x.★.Pħσєиιx Ģєяαяđ.★.x.★.x.★.x † βαstαяđ Pяιиcє † In a cell deep within the Crimson Towers of Silent’aevum…The air was chilling; so cold was it, the very feeling of it penetrated deep into the bones. Along with the cold came the dampness of the stone and the wet, earthy scent of decay. That is the problem with dungeons, thought Phoenix to himself. He shifted and the chain around his neck rattled, causing him to wince slightly in fear. Immediately reprimanding himself afterward, the young man once more considered his previous thought. Perhaps a dungeon’s charm lies in how uncomfortable it is. That seemed to make more sense. How droll his thoughts must be, so that they drifted to how agreeable a dungeon was! Phoenix felt foolish and incomprehensibly naïve in concern to the events that landed him in the bleak cell he currently occupied. It was quite the unfortunate event when Phoenix’s father was found to be in such a rage two days beforehand. Another incompetent slave trader had reported their failure. Few things actually failed to make the King angry. This wasn’t one of them. Naturally after he’d had the moronic slaver executed - simply to the excuse of having displeased him - he’d turned his hand to his son. Of course Phoenix had done his utmost to avoid said wrath of the King. Apparently he hadn’t hidden himself quite well enough. His father had found him within a short three hours of his hunt for him. Flies. How he hated the disgusting little creatures. The flies had led his father to him. They were his creature to call and when he had need of them they were always there waiting for him. The miserable little wretches could squeeze their tiny insect bodies into every nook and cranny of the large castle and its grounds. So of course it wouldn’t take them long to find him and lead his tormenter straight to him. When he was at last accosted, there weren’t words enough to describe his pain. At least this time he hadn’t blacked out. The horrors that would have been visited upon him if he had were almost unthinkable. It wouldn’t be the first time the King would leave his son’s unconscious body to be dealt with in other ways by whoever paid him enough. This time however, Phoenix was lucky enough to have merely been chained, beaten, and left alone to slowly heal while his father went to vent his frustrations in a more seemly fashion. Perhaps now he would simply find his way to some poor slave and torture them instead. As long as the young prince was left alone, he was glad to never know what happened to anyone else who crossed his father’s path. His throat was starting to tickle from the cold air constantly entering his lungs. The pain coughing caused him was not the worst, but it wasn’t enjoyable either. He tried to stifle the coughs threatening to build up to no avail. His abdomen contracted painfully and the chain rubbed against his neck most unpleasantly, causing him to choke on whatever seemed to come up with the coughing fit. All of the former events came together in the end with the young vampire vomiting whatever had been in his stomach previously to his capture. Phoenix moaned in disgust and vaguely worried about what would happen to him at his father’s return. Would he hurt him worse for that? Or would he consider that punishment enough for existing and allow him to return to his tower in the castle above? Anything but this… he hated being left alone in the darkness beneath the world. He hated it even more when his father left him with company. Shivering in revulsion – from the thought, rather than the vomit pooled before him – he tried to stop the gagging that seemed to come about from the action. Nothing but dry heaving could be done at that point. There was nothing more to come up. Not that there had been much to begin with. When the shivers finally subsided, the prince tried his best to stay still and keep himself propped up without the aid of the chains. He wouldn’t be sleeping strung up like that, he knew. There wouldn’t be any rest for him until his father returned. Whenever that would be. //Do Not Disturb I have a plot planned out with friends, so until they come into play, I'll be doing this solo. ^^//

Cassus chuckled and began looking over documents as he spoke.
"You're under the impression that I care if you trust me. Logically you have more of a reason to trust your master then any other person in the world because they control it. Though, if you really want to I'm sure the driver wouldn't mind you asking about his sons. I sent them back to live with their mother just two weeks ago. He wanted to stay to repay me for freeing his sons. It isn't so hard to get a hold of a family these days, some vampire lords are sick enough to want whole collections so vampires are paid to find the family that is desired."Cassus began signing documents and ripping up others and it was apparent now that these were all slave contracts.

Libia glared slightly at his response. Like she cared about the driver and his sons and this werewolf and that vampire. She just wanted out and she wanted it now. Well... Wait a moment. What if she were to be captured again? Could she take refuge at Cassus's house for a while. She considered it as he spoke, and her eyebrows furrowed as he finished.
"Well, considering the possibilities that my name could still be out there, may I seek refuge at your... abode for the time being?" She watched him sign and rip apart various papers she assumed to be her slave contracts. A section of her upper lip pulled into a low snarl, before she dispersed it. Some of tose blood-suckers, if not most, were just sickening to even think about.

Cassus stopped, he put down the papers and looked right at her, as if to kill her with his eyes. Then, as it seemed he would strike her, he began to chuckle which turned into a full laugh that went on for about ten seconds before he stopped and wiped his eyes.
"Are you daft girl? May I seek refuge at your abode? You don't have a choice! If any vampire sees you outside without a master you would be either killed or enslaved again not to mention the fact that I would have to report it lest I be discovered. I send your kind back to where they came from out of the kindness of my own heart not because I am obligated to so do not push my emotions. You may be equal in race but you are not equal in status, I am a noble of the finest breeding who earned his rank through pain and suffering on my own part!"As he began to lose his temper Cassus stopped, this was not noble. Emotion was not noble no matter how hard he worked to get girls like this out of the country and back to their homes. So he closed his mouth, relaxed his shoulders, and went back to looking at his papers.

She immediately shut her mouth and looked away, knowing all too well that she would be beaten in some way, shape or form. Her jaw clenched along with her hands as she let him talk. So he wasn't going to free her? That's what she got from what he said. Libia sighed, her hopes of freedom crushed into silver dust once more. Her eyes rose not to meet his, but to glance out of the small niche of a window to stare into the darkness outside. This was the first sight and smell of fresh air in... well, she didn't know how long it had been. She just knew it was definately too long. Libia remained silent, though, because she had already spoken too much out of turn. Her eyes sunk to the scars on her arms, from her upper arm near her shoulder, to her wrists were scars and fresh slices of dried blood that obscured her pale skin. Her eyebrows furrowed and she crossed her arms and looked back out of the window.

After a long while of driving the coach finally stopped and the door opened. The driver was very tall and guant but what was most unusual was his hair, it was purple and his eyes were a dull silver. Cassus got out first and before he moved on he turned to the driver and spoke very casually.
"Your sons are safe now, I have reported them dead so there will be no more hunts for them in my name. The fools actually think that hunting for my 'lost slaves' will actually make me like them. Oh, and girl, go to the kitchen and find the wolf matron, her name is Mary but she may ask you to call her mom, everyone else does. You'll spot her, she's a big women with a great laugh and a smile that lights up the room."As Cassus left the driver began to weep with a smile on his face, his sons were finally free. As Cassus entered the mansion he was greeted by his servants before he disappeared into his office.
Mary was having a busy day. Some lords had come by earlier and without Cassus there she had to cover for the other slaves and had been managing the kitchen since then. Though the mansion was free of lords with the exception of Cassus, she still made the slaves work in the kitchen just in case another lord came by, which was possible and likely. The food was being prepared but the floors were being currently washed and that is what was occupying her attention.
(I may turn her into a character but for now she's an NPC that I'll use occasionally.)
