Gungir Caste: Artists of War

For Gungir warriors life is the synonym of war. They are ever fighting, never halting, never hesitating to jump into battle. A fight is when the members of this caste truly feel alive. Every single member truly devotes himself to war and thus each of them develops his own philosophy concerning it. In the end, however, all sum up into one: Fighting is art. Their Zanpakutou are their brushes, the enemy is their paint or canvas. More often than not the opponent is reduced to a mere tool to create the perfect painting.
Like all virtuosic Gungir warriors grow slightly eccentric about their own personal art. Therefore they usually fight on their own as others might interfere with their perfect painting. Sometimes they meet someone with similar visions of art and if they do, those usually form a team that always sticks together. As war is omnipresent, one can never be without the partner after all.
Of course war can’t be fought anymore when one loses his life and as war is the purpose of existence, the Vizards are very intent on keeping theirs forever. Therefore a fight is rather dragged out instead of risking to lose. This attitude causes the members to be very resilient, hard to kill opponents. However, should the situation arise when death is certain, Gungir warriors give all their strength to arrange it in a way that fits their personal aesthetics. Their own death is no less art than the enemy’s.
This is also reflected in their combat style. They very much seem like a berserker when they fight and kill. Gungir warriors are so engrossed in their art that everything else becomes meaningless. They prefer to form their creation with their own hands. Therefore the Gungir fighters look down upon those who fight like cowards… meaning stealth and ranged combat. Gungir artists use their own definitions of art to battle. As such their kais are specialized, rather than being versatile.
