First Move: MissHodari had been training for the past couple months with the full intent of joining Savitri among the Firekin. Kei, his father, had given him some pointers and his brothers were happy enough to combat him in a couple duels. Hodari found the most challenging battles, however, with rogues simply looking for a fight. It wasn't like him to take a stranger's challenge, but Hodari knew his family would always be careful and never try to push him to his limits. Dakarai would be quick to stop if he saw that his brother was bleeding. If he was going to make it alongside his dearest companion he would need to satisfy the requirements her pride had for him. Hodari did not doubt his mental capacities, but he would need to train harder to become a challenging fighter.
Padding towards the Firekin territories, Hodari took in a deep breath. The land was hotter here than in the Pridelands and his nerves only made it feel hotter. At the border he saw the great male he intended to challenge - Savitri's father. The challenge would be for something greater than his place in the pride, Hodari wished to take the white lioness as his mate.
For too many years Hodari had waited for his opportunity to speak up and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to prove himself, not only as a worthy pride member, but also as a worthy male to protect Bodaway's daughter. While Bodaway was familiar with the friendship between Savitri and Hodari, the purpose of the combat may have been unknown to him. Hodari was not one to speak up before he was certain he would win. Approaching the male, Hodari dipped his head in preparation for the combat.
Hodari was allowed entrance into the pride for the challenge and though he knew it was fine under these circumstances he felt the stares of pride members all around him. He watched his opponent carefully and attempted an attack. Having shot forward too quickly, Hodari missed and jumped back.

Boda attack 1 - Hit
He wasn't stupid, and he was no old fool. He knew his daughter was in love. The way she stared off towards the Pridelands, sighing, diligently patrolling the borders.. She was wanting to be with her beau.
When word had reached the aging lion that the lion of his third daughter's heart wanted entry into the lands, Bodaway was the first to volunteer to duel with the lion. He approached the lion, taking him in. Hodari was no longer the little juvenile he'd first met, so long ago, playing by the thorns bordering the two territories with Savitri. He'd grown into a handsome young adult.
With age came experience, and the old lion jumped aside to avoid the younger lion's attack. With age, though, also came slower movements, and he felt Hodari breeze past him. Inwardly he growled, cursing his advancing age.
Turning slowly, he launched at Hodari, claws out and intent on not going easy. In his mind, this was not only about the right for Hodari to remain in the pride... It was the right to be with one of his daughters.

Second Move: Bide
Hodari had been quick to jump back after he missed the older male, but not quick enough to avoid Bodaway's incoming attack. The sensation of the large lion's claws digging into his backside did not sting as much as the fact that he had been caught so quickly into battle! How could he show Bodaway all he had accomplished during his training like this? His ears lowered and he managed to pull away, distancing the two again.
Steadying himself on his feet, Hodari got a good look at the male before him. Like Savitri, Bodaway was a massive lion, still heavily muscled despite his age. So caught up in his determination the fear hadn't an opportunity to set in. Now Hodari could see this challenge might be more difficult than he imagined. Bodaway was clearly not going to give him any advantages. Hodari would need to think quickly to make an intelligent decision.
Swaying from side to side, Hodari shifted his balance in preparation for Bodaway's next move. He watched carefully and kept light on his feet in the chance he would need to move quickly.

Bodaway attack 2: Bide
The older male circled, watching Hodari. If he had come into the Firekin lands to challenge a member, he was serious. There was no bluffing in this male. As he circled around, Bodaway kept his eyes on Hodari, attempting to judge his character at a glance.
"So... You're serious about my daughter..." His paws soon fell back into his own paw prints, sending the sand shifting ever so slightly. "You're willing enough to take a beating from a Firekin... To be with her..."

Third Move: Bide
Hodari had found a pattern to Bodaway's movements and prepared to attack when the older male cut him off with words he wasn't expecting. With a gulp, Hodari remained where he was, still shifting on his feet, though now more obviously from nerves. This was not a conversation he expected to have... at least not yet. He had met Bodaway before, but their conversations were always brief and to the point. While his feelings had developed for Savitri long ago he had always kept them to himself. How had Bodaway known?
Regaining his composure, Hodari thought quickly about his response. Of course he was seriously about Savitri! He always had been and always would be. Almost defensively, Hodari narrowed his eyes on the larger male and replied, "I am willing to give everything I have for Savitri!" Hodari's words were filled with commitment and longing. Savi knew he adored her company, but he doubted she knew the full depth of his affections for her. Hodari was fully in love with the white lioness.
Forgetting for a moment of the challenge, Hodari refrained from attacking again.

Bodaway attack 3: Bide
The burning in his eyes... Bodaway had seen it once before, in another lion, in relation to one of his older daughters. From what he'd observed, they had remained loyal to one another. Hodari, in this respect, was no different from his other son-in-law.
Taking a step closer, Bodaway tilted his head, smiling at Hodari. "I see.." He didn't attack, not yet. "Those are the words of the truly smitten... I see why my daughter's spoken so well of you. I hear the love in her voice when she talks about you, too, as I hear it in yours for her."

Fourth Move: Bide
Hodari was once again taken back. He was no longer the prepared warrior who had come to claim his place in the pride. He was now a cautious male with the hopes of taking a brave warrior's daughter as his mate. He had imagined things so much differently. He had hoped that he might have an opportunity to prove himself before explaining his feelings. He had hoped to be more certain before everything unfolded.
And then Bodaway announced Savi's feelings! Hodari felt his heart begin to race and his fur stand on end. Why hadn't Savi told him?
With a quick shake of his head, Hodari tried to remember what had brought him there. Weren't his two reasons intertwined with one another? Shouldn't his love of Savitri encourage him to fight his best? Why was he now having difficulty challenging Savi's father? Hodari couldn't answer the flood of questions that bombarded him now. All he knew was that he wanted Bodaway to think positively of him and he couldn't bring himself to attack!

Bodaway attack 4: Hit
Letting out a chuckle, the male began to circle again. At first, he went slow, going at a walk. He then began to trot, before going into a lope. All the while, he kept one eye on Hodari, watching him. He was prepared... There wasn't much that could be said that would distract him. Turning, the male charged full-on at his opponent, paws striking the sand.
With a leap, he went flying at Hodari, his full weight in his attack. His words had, effectively, stunned the other, opening him up to attack. It was a move that could get most lions.

Fifth Move: Bide
Hodari watched carefully as Bodaway began to circle him. He felt helpless and frozen, imagining himself as a prey beast waiting for the final strike. He adjusted his footing and kept a close eye for his moment to dodge and break free from the trance. When Bodaway leapt, however, Hodari found himself unable to move. With claws and teeth bared, Bodaway was able to pin Hodari to the ground and strike him with both claws. Hodari let out a growl and tore his form from the larger male. These wounds were deeper than the first set and ached with embarassment.
Regaining his footing, he narrowed his eyes once again, though this time filled with anger and shame. It would not be long before the challenge was over and Hodari was not impressing anyone! He had forgotten for a moment about the others watching but now their stares cut deeper than ever.
How could he tell Savi what had happened?

Bodaway attack 5: Hit
Circling again, Bodaway didn't take so long on his next attack. As he knocked into Hodari, he gave a bit of a smirk. "Come back later... I'll be waiting."
As he backed away, the old male offered Hodari a less dangerous looking smile. "If you can beat me, you can be with Savitri."

At the impact of Bodaway's next attack, Hodari fell to the ground with a thud. A cloud of sand flew up around him and blood made a clear trail to where he lay. With lowered ears, the male struggled to lift himself to his feet. His wounds were superficial and nothing to keep him down. Despite this, he was clearly pained where he stood. Dipping his head low, he thanked Bodaway for the combat and turned to return back to his pride.
His pride was wounded, but he still had all the motivation in the world to return! He would train harder and come back with full intentions to win!
