 Though he felt great pride for being in his pride, it certainly was a hard spot to fill. In a pride where being level headed, intelligence, strong, sturdy, and unflinching in the face of danger and various evils, Bebenya was ill-suited for the job, or at least that’s what all the other cubs kept telling him. He couldn’t help it if he didn’t like to be around large bugs, or that when the other cubs chewed on his ears too hard he called out for help, and that when he felt troubled, his mother was the first person we went to. His mother was usually the only one he could go to.
It was this situation that left him walked across the ground, kicking up stones with his paws and trying not to shudder. Of course, the “dust was in his eyes” again, and he wiped his face with a paw before sitting down. He didn’t want to go to his mother right now, as being called a mother’s boy was getting to him, and he felt he should at least make the effort to not run to her, though he could really go for burying his face into his soft chest and staying with her while her mother talked to the other lionesses. He always found it more inviting to hear the older lionesses talk then among the rough, boy lions that continued to use him as pouncing practice or when they played and he had to be the “evil rouge”, which was hard to pull off when you just wanted to lay low and not be noticed.
How was he suppose to ever become a Diplomat or Commander when he couldn’t even go up against the other boy cubs?! Even his sisters liked playing rough with him, and while they stopped when he cried out, it was still not flattering on his part.

 Nyx was almost always crafting...but that moment was one of the rare times she wasn't. She was, instead, sitting quietly with her eyes closed...seemingly listening for something. And then, she started forward and stood in the same motion, dancing to a beat only she seemed to hear. Her voice hummed in time with the invisible beat, not even bothering with words. Just the pure tones of her voice.
She didn't notice she had company. And certainly didn't notice him until she twirled right into him, tripping over the younger cub's tail. Nyx yelped, her trance broken. "Hey....watch where yer goin' kiddo." She frowned up at him from her place on the ground.

If as to answer Bebenya’s question as to whether or not his day could get any worse, he felt something hit his tail and then turned around to see that he had caused someone to fall. While most people would snip back, he knew it was best just to apologize. He didn’t want to start a fight. “Eh…Eh-I’m Sorry! I didn’t meant to.” He stood up, not feeling the best with the little sting to his tail, and turned around to her. “I didn’t meant to. Honest. I’ll watch where I’m going next time. Are you-are you okay?!” He really didn’t want the girl to be hurt, or angry. He couldn’t stand when his sisters cried, or when they got angry with him. Worse yet, what if she went to her parents and they came?! Ohhh. He really hoped she was okay. He didn’t think he could handle two big adults yelling at him to mind where he was going and for hurting their daughter. What if they banished him? What if his mother became angry or disappointed with him?! He didn’t want her to be angry with him, or sad at him, or to leave him alone as he was left in the wild!
Thinking about it, he started to sniffle. “I just- I just didn’t think anyone would find me here. Please don’t be angry.”

Oh no! Nyx stared at the cub with wide red eyes. He...ohno! He was gonna cry! She hadn't wanted that! She was just used to someone sniping back! That was the usual response, right?! She flailed a little, then rolled over and got up. "I...oh man, kid, don't take it so hard!" Great...now SHE felt like a dunghead. "I...oh man, don't cry..." She looked around a bit, then grinned.
Jumping back a little, she reared onto her hind paws and danced a little. Then she started to sing. "Hey hey, little one~ Don't you cry no more! Too many tears are bad for you~ So don't you cry no more!"

Bebenya's misty eyes creased into confusion. What...what was she doing? Was she dancing?! His sniffles slowed and stopped as he watched her, more confused than anything that it made all thoughts of being banished dissolve. He had seen some members of the pride dance, but always from afar and never before him. Especially not FOR him. Taking a paw, he swiped his face clear and watched her. "I'm not crying...really." Well, maybe a little.

Oh good! He was better now! Nyx smiled. "That's good! Cause I'd have to tickle you if you were!" She grinned and giggled, nudging his shoulder with a paw. "My name's Nyx. What's yours?"

He stood up on all fours, stepping back once in case she tried to get to him to tickle him. Bebenya was very ticklish, as none to many people touched him aside for when they were roughhousing, that he wondered if she would attack him now. Since she made no move to, he stood still, watching her.
"Be--Bebenya. ...It's nice to meet you, Nyx." His mother had taught him to be polite, and this girl was a girl. Being nice to a girl was supposed to be the right thing to do. He just hoped she was nice back.
