I'll make my first suggestion:
A list of species with detailed descriptions. (Including humans!)

Couldn't work as a list of "these are the only ones". Preferably a list of alien species introduced to the storyline, so people could pour in from others' inventions and have the alien species appear more than once. You could, naturally, be allowed to invent new ones.

Remember folks... This is Free Form Role Playing
Aliens Races : Unlimited
Restrictions : NO MAGIC, NO PSIONICS, NO WIZARDS, NO INFERNAL HELL BEASTS.
Unstoppable killing machines, hostile aliens and things that can't physically fit through the door, are not allowed on board the ship.
Other than that... I recommend using taxonomic animal family alien identifiers.
What do I mean by taxonomic animal families?
Things like... "Avian" "Arthropod/Insect" "Mollusk" "Lizard/Saurian" "Primate" "Canine" "Feline" "Rodent"
things like that
Just like any character, it will have strengths and weaknesses. I'll let you figure that out, but remember, I have universal veto power.

What I meant was a list of those already in game, with more being added as time goes on. It's so that newbies won't be confused by them.

I somehow managed to make a species in parallel to Judaism (in parts) that speaks English in an Eastern European accent, lives for millenia and mutilates their children in brith, replacing their legs with freakish mechanical spikes.
