Auryn stood up from the sand with a accomplished sounding sigh, running the back of her arm across her forehead as she smiled down at the sand castle before her. Really, it was just a very large mound of sand...but there were shells placed all over it in a decorative way and several "windows" poked into the sides with her fingers. She'd been working on it for the better part of the last half hour, running around trying to find the perfect feeling shells and running her fingers all over the castle to find the right places for them.
She was indeed proud of her efforts, but after telling Santana she was finished, it was time for a swim. The guardian stayed under his protective umbrella, out of the damaging rays of the sun, as he watched her go off towards the water at a quick but deliberate pace.
It was so nice to be able to see some things now; ever since this massive growth spurt, she'd been able to see the auras of people in the usual darkness of her eyes. The independence to walk off on her own was beautiful since now she didn't need Santana or Lit to guide her around.
Reaching the water, she only stayed in the shallows, splashing about and running in the foam that broke on the sand. While she could see and sense...the big open water of the ocean was definitely not something she wanted to mess with on her own.

"Beeeaaach! Yaaay!" Espen called as he rushed down the sand as fast as he could towards the water in a lifejacket. Shane was bolting and tripping after him as fast as he could, but Espen was lighter and ran on the thick sand like it was pavement.
"Ack! Espen! Stop!" he called to no avail until the boy reached the waterside and was about to leap in when he realized that it was bigger and colder than he had expected and so instead, Espen froze in his tracks and just stared in amazement at the sight. The sun glistening off of the tide, the rollings waves which licked his feet, the various birds who were mischievously eying food across the landscape...and suddenly his gaze fell upon a girl who wasn't to far away from him in the water. There was something strange about her that he couldn't quite understand that compelled him to get closer to her. He didn't really know what to do exactly, so instead he just went over to her and reached up to tap her on the shoulder.
"Hello!" he said while blushing in embarrassment he pointed at the water and giggled. "Itsa beach! Umm...what's yoar name?"
Shane eventually caught up to Espen and was thankful that he wasn't crazy enough to jump into the ocean by himself. Catching his breath, Shane decided to sit down ten feet away from Espen and see what happened next, that way there was enough room to give him space, but also enough to catch him in case he decided that it was a good idea to plunge into the sea.

She'd hear the feet running up to her before the person reached her. At first, she had been making to move out of the way, but as she turned the fingers came to tap her shoulder. Oh, so he'd be trying to get her attention? Well, ok then, cool.
"Hi," she answered the friendly voice with a smile, fully facing the newcomer...and stopping short. Obviously, Auryn couldn't really see the boy, so she wasn't aware of what he looked like...but with this growth spurt, she'd been blessed with the ability to see auras. The outline of Espen's body glowed in that strange half brightness way like Lit's did, and like her's did too.
There was something different about him though that she just couldn't put her finger on. He was much, much more like her than he was like Lit; she could sense it, feeling it down in her bones. And don't even get her started on his wings. She could teel that he had those too, and all she wanted to do was reach out and touch them.
"My name's Auryn," she'd say before following the way he pointed, amazed that she could see his aura clearly enough to know exactly how he was moving. "Oh, yeah. I love the beach! It's a lot of fun here!"
"Hey, what's your name?"

"I'm Espen!" he giggled "I wanna make sand castles, wait here."
Rushing off to where Shane was sitting, he grabbed a bag that the two of them had stuffed with beach stuff, even with the knowledge that only some of these objects would be used anyways. From the depths of the bag, Espen pulled out a pair of buckets and shovels, both of various sizes and rushed them back to Auryn and placed a bucket and shovel in front of her to use.
"Lets make a big one!" he suggested.

Auryn blinked as he ran off...and when he came back, she squealed gleefully as he made mention of building a castle of some sort. She'd take the object, a dull outline of a shovel in his hand, and make a grabby hand at one of the buckets that he held in the other.
"Ok! Really big, we'll touch the sky! We'll fly away!" she said, immediately plopping down onto her kneels in the sand and starting to dug up a big pile of the dark slush that was the ground.
"Come on!"

Espen liked Auryn, she thought big, just like he did. Using the other shovel, he began rapidly scooping sand into a large rectangular bucket. Grains flew all around him as he did so, but he made sure that every one that was in his shovel went into the bucket, because he needed their sandcastle to be as perfect as sand would allow. He knew that the sky was a loong ways up; to touch it would take precision and finesse.

Fill, pack, place, lift. Fill, pack, place, lift. It was a rhythmic pattern that Auryn fell into quickly and with great determination.
"Let's build it around us," she suggested to the boy, starting to make a great circle around them with the plastic shapes. "We can be the kings of the castle!"
The idea made her giddy. To be the ruler of the castle, to have subjects to command...oh, man this was going to be so much fun!

"Woah, yeah!" Espen agreed, as he began to build at a faster pace. "I getta be king dough, you can be queen!..an we'll giv evybody fwee icecweem!"
With their renewed pace, it was only a matter of time until they had surrounded themselves with a single ring of small turrets. It wasn't much of a castle though. He tried to stack another turret ontop of one of the previous ones but it didn't work out as well as he had planned.
"Grr..Now what?" Espen pondered aloud.

Auryn looked around at their grand castle attempt and pouted. Ok, sure now what? How were they supposed to make this into a pillar of awesome if they couldn't even make a wall to hold it up with? Wrinkling her nose, she looked at the sand...and stuck a bare toe into the wall, watching it start to crumble around it.
She grinned.
"Rawr!" she shouted, standing up in order to smash the part of the wall she'd just partially demolished.
She turned to Espen, a joyfully wicked glint in her blind eyes; "Now we're monsters! We'll smash this wall and everything in our path!"
"Grrrr!" she growled this time, crushing another part of the wall under her feet.
