Roxanne yawned and stretched her arms up to the sky, her back ached terribly from sleeping on the hard ground. If it were possible she missed the comforts of her plush bed even more, and of course the delicious meals delivered by hand daily..what had those mangy alley cats been complaining about Roxanne couldn't understand. She looked up at the sky, was it really mid day already? Roxanne placed her hands over her stomach when it rumbled in reply. Too proud to eat from the trashcans since she had been "freed", and now she was nearly starving to death. The matter couldn't be avoided any longer, she needed to find food.
She got up off the pavement and looked around the alley way, it seemed that the others had all left already, and eaten all the edible garbage as well..
"Fine with me..I don't want that stuff anyway" she said to herself, wrinkling her nose in disgust at even the idea of eating from a trashcan.

Schmee and Venus walk around a nearby corner talking to each other or rather Venus was talking and Schmee was half listening. "-and that is what my morning has been like. Oh I'm so hungry, I feel I could eat a whole rabbit today." Venus blatantly hinted at her lunch request for the day, "Oh the little ones are such a hand full. I never have time to go out for long anymore, it's so much faster with you Schmee."
Schmee laughed a little, "Faster, I doubt you would ever catch a rabbit, you seem to have trouble catching a butterfly on your own." smiling Schmee turned her head forward and saw a very starved cat, she was obviously a pure breed and obviously new to this free collar life. "Are you okay poppet? can I help you with anything dear."
Venus followed Schmee's gaze to the female ahead of them, She looked faintly familiar, but she couldn't place it. "Hello I'm Venus and this is Schmee, We were just about to get lunch, would you like to join us?"

Roxanne's ears perked up at the sound of the other cats that came around the corner, about to pass the alley way that she had been "resting" in. They looked strong and intimidating, at least the silver haired one did. She removed her hand from the whip wrapped around her shoulder when she realized that they were going to help her.
Her face grew red with embarrassment, "Sorry..I- " she shrugged her shoulders, speechless. "I'm new to all this, I haven't eaten in a few days" she admitted to her new acquaintances "If you could show me how to hunt, I would be very grateful."
Roxanne smiled, feeling particularly grateful for this stroke of luck, that was a long time coming to her. "Oh, and I'm Roxanne..it's so nice both of you"

'Roxanne, hope she is nothing like Roxy.' were Venus' first thoughts, then she recognized her. "Are you the Roxanne that won best of breed at the fancy cat show last year? My former owner said you were true competition, a rising star. What are you doing out here?" This was Venus' first time to actually meet another show act out in the wild. If her life had been anything like Venus' own, of luxury and ease, then there would be no desire to leave.
Schmee's eyes shot a look at Venus trying to tell not to pester the new girl, then they went back to Roxanne. "It would be a pleasure to have you join us for the hunt. but if you ever need an easy meal the fish mongers wife gives out left over fish at the end of the day to the cats that go by. You shouldn't let yourself get so weak in the future." She put out her hand to shake Roxanne's "Today we were going to try for a rabbit, but if you need something quicker we can stop by the lake first and get some fish"
"I'm up for whatever you want Roxanne."

"Oh" was her lame reply, startled that she had been recognized. "Yes! That's me!" How refreshing and exciting it was to have another cat recognize her, This Venus looked like a pampered cat of good taste.. Perhaps she was a show cat as well. "I'm not sure what happened to be honest..I just, woke up and I was here." She had been truthful for the most part, these strangers didn't need to know all of the details.
"You must have been a show cat as well, yes?" Roxanne smiled sincerely, wanting so bad to make these new acquaintances friends..How else would be survive?
"Thank you Schmee, I will keep that in mind the next time I'm hungry" She shook her fellow cats hand. The sheer presence of her made Roxanne feel a little safer than she had the past few nights. "I really, appreciate the generosity of your both"

"I was a show cat, yes, but that life feels so long ago. There are actually quite a few free collars that were former show cats." Venus sighed remembering the thrill of the show world. "Wow, it almost feels like that was a different life time, it took me awhile to adjust to life out her but I love it out her now. I got the man of my dreams and four beautiful little ones." She smiles happily thinking of her family. "Don't worry Roxanne, you met the right cat to help you adjust to this life out her" she nodded her head toward Schmee. "She has helped a lot of us out here."
"Still helping you Venus," She smiled brightly ready to hunt "Now lets get you to some food shall we and then from there we can find miss Roxanne a place to sleep if she hasn't found out yet. how about your old place Venus?" Schmee really was the type to help those in need in every possible way she could. In the future she may need the help of her friends so why not do everything possible to help them now. "If we can get you hunting on your own then that will be a huge first step. It's not easy out here unless you are determined to do all you can to live, one cup of cat food had as much protean as five mice, so remember to eat well one mouse won't last you all day." She paused thinking a moment "mice are pretty easy to catch at the old library. I'll point it out to you when we pass it on the way to the park."
