There came a time when one had to leave home. And Wanwa'hnwma was one who understood that very well. After all, her parents had raised her well, and now it was time for her to make her own place in the world. Though the purple lioness had a feeling her place was far different than the one her parents held. For one thing, her parents were creators, making all sorts of beautiful crafts...and cubs. A few days before she'd left the small territory her father had claimed, she'd witnessed the birthing and naming of her five little siblings. But Wan...Wan did not create. Wan protected and guarded. She'd done so with her mother while she was pregnant. And she'd done so when creatures came along that her father was not large enough to face. She'd always been large...and she'd grown larger than her average-sized father and small, slender mother. Wan was built for the urge inside her. Perhaps it was a reflection of that strange little voice in the back of her heart. That bigger-than-her-body voice that spoke in quiet whispers only she could hear. And so...Wan had left home in the northern hills to find her place. And her travels so far had brought her to a dense, but beautiful forest. It calmed her, and yet encouraged her to stay on guard. One never knew what would take advantage of a relaxation in one's defense.
It had been days now. Days of wandering helplessly through the forest, days of helplessly feeding on the scraps of kills that other predators left behind. The young leopon was growing thin and his fur was beginning to show the signs of his times away from his family. He didn't know what to do. Without his parents, he was completely helpless. He'd all but given up on ever seeing his parents and siblings again...
And so, he'd crawled under a rather large tree strump and curled up, waiting for the inevitable to take place.
Wan stretched out, feeling the tug of sleep trying to get at her. Well...seemed it was time to settle in for the night. First things first...dinner. Food was best, before sleeping. It would digest properly and leave her feeling refreshed in the morning, ready to continue on! In a forest, rabbits would be best. Prolific, and tasty. Especially the fat ones. She crouched to the ground, only to encounter a scent she'd not had when she was standing. Both curious and cautious, she inched towards the scent, and was rather surprised by the little juvenile curled up beneath a stump. A strange-looking little one who'd seen better days. She wrinkled her nose. "No sense in being down there. Looks like you found someone's den, and hey won't be happy when they come home. Now come out, before you get yourself killed."
"What's the point? I can't find Mother... Why prolong the inevitable?" Kucha asked morbidly, turning blood-colored eyes upon the lioness before him. A quick death... That would be much nicer than slowly starving himself.

Wan snorted and shook her head. "Come out now. I can find you a nice rabbit, get something in that stomach of yours." The lioness had not seen someone so...strange. And never had she met a male youngster who seemed determined to die.
"Why do that? It's not like I'll be able to take care of myself after you feed me," Kucha said, looking up at Wan but reluctantly crawling out of his little ditch.
Good...the boy had come out. That was a start. "And why's that? You get yourself lost? Then we find your family." Was as simple as that. Until then, however..."And until then, I'll feed you. Teach you to hunt, too." Poor thing looked like he'd been separated from his family for a long while. He was nearly skin and bones, especially compared to Wan.
"You'd really do that for a stranger?" Kucha asked after a long moment of silence, looking over at Wan in awe.

Wan nodded. "I know good way of solving..." She chuckled and carefully tapped the youngster on the top of his head. "I am Wanwa'hnwma. Now...I no stranger to you." It was simple, sound logic. "What your name?"
"I'm Kucha!" the young leopon replied, grinning and absently tossing his silvery mane tuft out of his eyes. Wan was nice! But he still hoped they found his family... "It's nice to meet you, Miss Wanwa!"
Wan felt better now. The youngster was opening up. "Nice to meet you too, Kucha. Now..." She motioned her head towards the forest that lay before them. "Let us find you nice juicy rabbit. I am good hunter. Especially for others." Because Wan lived to guard others. And that meant their well-being, as much as their lives.
"A rabbit sounds really good right now," Kucha groaned softly, trying not to let his mouth water too much at the promise of food.
Wan chuckled and started forward. "Come...many rabbits lie in wait...and I show you how to catch them!" Best to teach him how to hunt while she got him something to eat. Was better that way.
"Will you really? Mama told me I was too small to hunt yet," Kucha said lightly, his head tilting curiously even as he moved to follow after the lioness.
Wan nodded. "You big 'nough now. Even if you weren't...need to learn now. Best to learn now." She looked back at him with a crooked grin. "That way, no more rumbly tummies. Rabbits should be perfect for little tummy like yours."
"Uh huh. They're small, but not too small!" Kucha replied, grinning and twitching his tail as he followed after Wan.
Wan nodded. "Exactly! Now...first thing you need to learn is how to find their dens..." Wan would teach him and feed him...and then they'd go looking for his family. If they didn't find them well...Wan would just look over him. That was the right thing to do, yes?
