Name: Nimwae
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Weavercraft
Rank: Apprentice
Physical Description: Nimwae does not have an overly seductive or beautiful appearance, but her looks won’t frighten away anyone. When she dons her nicer Gather clothes (rather than her modest work ones), she could be considered cute or even pretty. Standing at a small five foot two inches, she has a slender physique, with very few curves that do little to offer her a feminine appeal and edge. The girl’s smallness seems to suite her job, however, as she possesses dainty hands with slim fingers. They aid in being a seamstress, allowing her to work with even the most delicate of materials. Her hair is a thick, unruly mane of brown that has the slightest twinge of red. Each strand has its own kink and curl, which tends to be rather difficult while trying to style it. It hits to about her mid-back when down, but it is typically put up into a bun or other updo, as the length of it can often get into her line of sight when sewing. She does not care for it too well and usually walks around the Weyr with a haphazardly tossed up hairstyle, and sometimes it can go for days without being brushed. Her eyes are a hazel green and nothing remarkable, though they are rimmed with thick, dark eyelashes. There is an ample speckling of freckles on her face and in a few other random places about her body, and they show up quite well on her otherwise pale skin. Since she works with the tailors, she will frequently make her own clothes from the leftover bits of scrap cloth. This can give her wardrobe a decidedly mix-matched and colorful look, as even one skirt can be made from three or four different scraps, but Nimwae guesses that as long as she is fully clothed then nobody really cares what she dresses in.

Personality: Expressive! Nimwae’s emotions seem to be amplified to the extreme. Though it is seen as a virtue for women (or anyone, really) to be calm, cool, collected and very quiet, she has not quite mastered the art of that kind of simplicity. When she is in good spirit others may observe her running, joking and laughing loudly without abandon - in a way trying to share with the world her ecstatic frame of mind. When she is hurt and feels the compulsion to cry, rather than bottling up her feelings she will just cry, in public, no matter how it makes her or those around her look. If she is angry with someone, she has been known to retaliate with a wicked tongue and sharp hand gestures before fleeing the scene. It is extremely easy to get her riled up or to sadden her, but likewise it is also easy to calm her or boost her spirit. Given the fact that she is emotionally open, Nimwae’s shoulder is always a good one to cry on; she may not be able to offer advice, but she will at least be able to offer a kind word and an understanding manner.

However, she does have a wild side, and despite her sometimes annoying display of emotions she can be quite fun. She has a spontaneity that makes her more likely to do half-baked plans, “stupid” dares, and the like. For this reason, she is mostly seen as naïve and air-headed, and there is more than a little truth to those titles. Many times she will do something just because it sounds “fun!“ and she will not think further about it and the inherent danger that lies within. Nimwae is adventurous and incredibly enthusiastic about life, thus she is never one to miss out on an opportunity to experience anything new. She loves meeting new people and is comfortable in social situations - in fact, she doesn’t understand how anyone could not enjoy being in a crowd and/or conversing with people. If she sees someone being a wallflower, she will attempt to drag them into her group of friends, knowing that it will make them “happy to feel included.” Shyness is a foreign emotion to her, and she does not realize how mortified a less-than-sociable person can feel if she does this to them.

History: In the grand scheme of things, Nimwae’s family has always been rather unimportant. Never has it produced a Dragonrider, a craft Master, a lord, a lady, etc. For generations the family has lived at Southern Boll, doing its duty, raising and loving its children, and for as many generations that simplicity has been enough.

Born as the second of four children, Nimwae lived an unexciting, but content childhood. As soon as she was able to use a needle without fear of injuring herself, her mother taught her how to sew, setting her to work patching up the farmer’s clothes of her father and older brother, until eventually she was making the clothes themselves. In this way the young girl gained quite a bit of skill with a needle, and was accepted as an Apprentice into the Weavercraft Hall as soon as she was old enough. For a bit, she was on the expected path of her family, and it seemed that her family would have yet another quaint, but happy generation.

Then the Riders arrived.

When Nimwae was Searched soon after her fourteenth Turn, her family was just as surprised as anyone. A Dragonrider from their family? Though they doubtlessly support Nimwae, her family does not believe that her Impression is imminent and they are merely counting down the days until her twenty-first Turn. A Dragonrider from their family? Never!
Pets: None
Other/Talents: Having nimble sewing hands, Nimwae is adept at finger movements and will sometimes put on candlelit shadow puppet plays for the younger children of the Weyr.
