~Welcome to the Mansion of Nikolai Shardae~

Well, of course he has a mansion. He spent over fifteen million on a pet.

Much of the interior has been remodeled for a more modern look, but bits and pieces have remained charmingly archaic.

Many bedrooms exist in this mansion, varying in styles. Some of Nikolai's favorites are shown here:

Oh, and for the feral pets, those that refuse to behave... there is a cage in the basement for solitary confinement.

You make it up as you go along.
Why pretend that you're something that you're not?
I believe in you and always will,
Ever since you told me you're for real.

Inside, emotional mood swings soon collide.
Now gather up all your tenacity.
Take my hand 'cause I'm settin' you free!

Who cares who's there to stare
And tell you how to look?
I'm not even sure they know you by name.

The first thought that flickered through Hel's mind as she settled into the luxurious interior of the car was that this guy had to be loaded, and he couldn't be a total p***k. The music flared to life, and she felt the pulse of the intense harmonies set itself into her chest and her veins. Her long nails dug into the bare, pale flesh of her arms, and she resisted the urge to grin. He had already received a rare compliment; she wouldn't stand for more than one in a single day, especially not so close together.

Instead, she made a show of keeping her legs tightly cross, arms still set, and holding her chin deliberately high as she gazed out the window. Her glare was faltering, and she'd have to fix that before she got back out of the car. Aside from the blaring music chanting, "Master! Master!", the car was awkwardly silent, so she focused on the song, for all its length, until she managed to translate the lyrics into proper English, at which point she had to focus solely on the instrumental so that she didn't get pissed and destroy the gorgeous car. Her magic would have done so subconsciously already, but she still had that damned, write-thin silver collar around her throat that suppressed all her natural super-abilities. She released a small snarl of rage, probably lost under the thunder of drums, and pulled herself a little bit tighter together in her seat.

{{ DREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM THEATER (covers Metallica)! <3 I just downloaded that song today, actually... }}

His eyes narrowed and his smirk widened; she was enjoying the song. He never turned to look at her, he kept his eyes on the road, but his aura was smug. After some unmeasured length of time, he pulled up to the long, long driveway leading to his mansion. He rolled down his window to punch a code into the keypad entry. The large, ornate Victorian gate creaked open, then he drove through, pausing to make sure the gate closed behind them. Nearing the house, he pulled to a stop and parked. "Well, here we are," he purred, cutting off the engine and dangling the keys around his finger before opening the door. He quickly moved to open Helorah's door, standing aside and waiting for her to get out. On second thought, he decided to take her in the more fun way. His ebony eyes locked with hers for a moment, then he dove for her, scooping her up and throwing her over his shoulder in a fireman's carry. The vampire stepped to the door, unlocking it, nudging it open with his foot, and swaggering inside.

"Joy of all joys..." she replied snidely as he welcomed her 'home', and her scowl reemerged, eyes a hot magenta. From the window, Helorah's gaze traveled along the full, enormous scale of the almost-castle he lived in, and again, the question of just how loaded this guy was came to mind.

Before her, the window was pulled back with the rest of the door, and she was left glaring up at him, without even having to move in the slightest. Talk about perfect positioning much... He seemed to pause there, in front of her, while she made no move to get out of the car, and it was while he was staring down at her that her mind drifted self-consciously to the tininess of her black leather dress, if it even had enough fabric to count as that. Then, rightfully so, he thought better of his patience and suddenly flung her bodily over his shoulder. The motion winded her slightly as his shoulder dug into her stomach, and she released a slight gag for air.

"Because walking, again, was such a b***h..." she huffed vaguely as she glared his shoulder blades upside down. Now, the shortness of the leather that barely brushed her thighs became a glaring problem to her, and she grimaced into his back.

Well, her hands were free, so she glanced down at her dangerously pointed, unnaturally long nails. Ah, the beauty of faeries... Randomly, she began to jab her speared fingers along his spine. It probably didn't even hurt in the slightest, but it HAD to be at least irritating.

He tensed slightly as the prickle jabbed in his back, but he quickly recovered. It hadn't hurt; it just startled him. How had she managed to catch him off-guard? Ah well. It didn't matter. That collar was still around her neck, and for now, he decided to keep it that way. New pets tended to be a little... testy... their first few weeks in their new homes. He knew they needed to adjust to their surroundings.

A wicked smirk crossed his lips and he shifted his grip on her, possibly making her more comfortable, but mainly because the current position applied unneeded pressure on his shoulder. "I suggest you stop that, Kitten, unless you want me to forget my gentleman's manners and take advantage of that enticingly short skirt you have."

Instead of setting her down, he decided to carry her around for a tour of parts of the living areas. He had just repositioned, why waste it? "Where to first, the kitchen, the living room, the indoor pool, or your choice of rooms? Oh, and to answer that question burning in your brain: very loaded."

"You'll forget your manners soon enough anyway," Helorah pointed out with an unusually reasonable tone, "I might as well annoy the hell of you now, while I have the chance." And she made a point of jabbing him once more particularly hard, but the interval between her 'attacks' became longer. It's not like she WANTED somebody up her skirt.

Her teeth ground for a moment as she bristled at being called a vague pet name, something she thought they had cleared up a few hours ago, but any response she had to that was cut off when he repositioned her, which made her cough once before she felt much relieved without the pressure directly in her gut.

Well, it was clear he was going to annoy her with this position further when he asked, yet her only reply was to the last half he mentioned, to which she mumbled, "Clearly..."

As to where they were going, she really didn't care. Either way, she was stuck where she was for about the same amount of time, and then they'd end up in some place she didn't want to be-- everywhere, actually. She rolled her eyes, more to placate herself than anything else. So, she mentally rolled dice and spat out the first answer:

"Let's see how many regular rooms you have, then we can add the doll-house accessories."

What? Like she'd give an unadorned answer.

"True," he replied. He wasn't going to lie to her. Manners would be lost. The vampire simply didn't acknowledge the stabs in his back, now becoming almost pleasurable.

Inside his mind, he laughed. He had called her "Kitten." He knew that would get to her. She liked originality, just as he did. He could take a small blow to his pride of creativity for the prize of ruffling her feathers. It was fun.

Still, though, he needed a clearer answer to his question. "Be specific. What kind of room do you want to see? There are too many to cover in one day, and I don't think even I could carry someone as light as you for that long."

((Ack! The shortness >.<))

{{ Tis cool. Shortness is understandable... Bwts, I gots to go anyway. It be waaaaaaaaay late over here. No good. }}

His succinct reply to the first point called for another eye roll on her part. Now she was merely tapping idly along his spine, rather than jabbing. It was all a part of the way she thought; Helorah couldn't be still if her life depended on it. She sighed and considered out loud.

"Well, you already separated pool rooms from kitchens from living areas. What else is left but, like, bedrooms? Am I supposed to specify by colour or something OCD like that?"
She paused and realized that the sheer capacity of the building could have galactic number of bedrooms hidden around. It probably was expected to pick a room theme. "Fine. We'll stick with the red-and-black sleek look you seem so fond of. Impress me," she dared, and in spite of herself, a smile rose to her lips, a smirk but it still showed her sharp white teeth.

She sighed, considered, and thought over his last line. "And you better not be calling me fat because two can play the insult game, and I like to win. Alot."

"Of course not. I'm not suicidal." He grinned with that statement. How cute. He had actually crafted the comment to mention how light she was, but either way. Women.

"Alright," he began, heading up a nearby staircase, "that leaves about ten, but I'll go with my favorite four." At the top of the stairs, he decided to let her walk on her own. She seemed to be getting bored, and besides, he would have to spin around to show her anything.

After the four red and black bedrooms, he planned on showing her the purple-ish one. He thought maybe she'd like that one for her quarters. Maybe. He didn't know. She could have multiple rooms if she liked. The mansion had more than he knew what to do with. In fact, he had four favorite master bedrooms, all of which he sept in at random times. One night he had actually thought of making a chart for proper rotation, but then grimaced and scolded himself for something so... organized. He liked organization where it was needed, but he preferred to sleep where he pleased according to the current mood.

((Alright, nighty night! ^^))

"Really? I was under the impression you were pretty much out to find the first thing that would kill you," Helorah replied airily, of course referring to herself in this case. Honestly, any man who thought of taking her home as a 'pet' was seriously in for it, and he had to know it. People didn't pick her on whims; she was too prissy for that.

So it was just as she was imagining him spinning around in the doorway with her, trying to let her get view and accidentally slamming her head into the door frame, something that would just have to inevitably take place with her bad luck, that he finally set her down, and she had to choke back the automatic instinct to say, 'thank you'. She bit her lips and swallowed the words before returning to normal.

"Only ten?"
she asked with mock surprise, keeping even pace with him now, though she dragged maybe a step behind for leading purposes. Obviously, she didn't know where the hell she was going, so she shouldn't be the one ahead. And her compliance with the pace was only the lesser of two evils. After all, he was still holding the leash, and the last thing she needed was to be dragged. That did all kinds of horrible things to one's appearance (namely the arrangement of her outfit), and she wasn't having that.

"Nope," he corrected, "I like to find something that will try to kill me, then poke it with a stick. I still know better than to poke it in the eye and stick my hand in its mouth."

He guided her to the first bedroom he planned to show, a simple single bed with black sheets and an interesting splash of red on the walls. It was his least favorite of his favorites. He enjoyed the splash, but the bed was too small, and the room wasn't interesting enough to him.

Opening the door, he brandished his arm, gesturing for her to investigate as she pleased.

"Probably a smarter move," she agreed begrudgingly, "You never know how hard they're going to bite." Helorah flashed a dangerous smile of dazzling teeth out of self-satisfaction in her pronouncement, then followed him into the room and began her critique.

"Obviously you're trying to cut back on some rooms so you can splurge on your better ones..."
she noted, taking in the rather uninteresting sparseness of the room. The dark colours made it seem smaller and therefore, less open, but she could still tell it lacked alot. At least the wall pain looked cool. Hel turned back to him, having stepped ahead into the room, and she raised an eyebrow.

"Start from the bottom and work your way up?" she asked, referring to the order in which he was showing her his favourite rooms. This couldn't have been the best one. It didn't scream hard rock and masochism.

"Exactly," he purred. "I only really like it for the color scheme. On to the next one."

Walking down the hall and turning to the right, to, whaddya know, another hall, he glanced back to make sure she was following. As he reached another door, he opened it. He wasn't going in exact order with this favorites. This was actually a room he rather liked, but he didn't want to go to the end of the hall and then trace back the way they came for his next one.

This room held a simple black and white bar design on the walls, with a large, ebony bed in the center. The floor was white, save for a line of red that encircled the bed. To him, it symbolized that thin, bloody line between life and death, pain and bliss, hatred and ecstasy. He spent most of his nights in this room, though it didn't look like it. Everything was impeccably neat.

"This one I tend to use most as my quarters," he commented, not looking at her. He figured he'd be able to sense her reaction from behind him through her aura, or she would just voice her own commentary. Either way worked for him.
