It was a day just like any other. Div’eari was wandering around without a purpose. The only difference was that the cards he had in his hands were not entertaining him like they usually could. He glanced around him occasionally a mere glance to check he wasn’t close enough to walk into any walls or any other drow. He did that more than enough and was certain he would not enjoy trying to apologise for knocking into someone again.

He shrugged to himself the cards disappearing into his clothing. He started taking more glances at his surroundings, but only ever glances not really looking at any one thing particularly hard. It was safer this way as if his mind were to wander everyone would receive a very definite colour image of whatever he was thinking about them. He was normally so so at controlling this unfortunate side effect to his powers and his wandering thoughts, but his boredom was leaving his thoughts free to roam.

The west dark was the same as always and he scuffed a foot against the ground with a light frown. He wanted something interesting to happen. He brushed a hand back through his grey hair messing up the ruffled strands more. What was a drow to do for entertainment? There was no pressing need for him in any quarter it seemed, at least for now.

He decided to keep wandering hoping he might come across something that caught his attention. If not he could always amuse himself with illusions he supposed. He wondered for a moment what he would look like as a woman and felt the shimmer of his illusion around him even as he looked up and around to see if anyone had noticed. He looked back down thinking maybe he would be better as a warrior looking type. He felt and could see the shimmer starting again, but dispelled his illusions as he realised he didn’t have a reflective surface to look at himself in. It was a pretty pointless exercise this way. Maybe he could change those around him, all they would notice was a slight shimmer….hmmmm it could be amusing if he made one look like a drider. He had done it before with pretty amusing results.

A grin splitting his lips he glanced around to see if he could find a suitable victim. It was certain to have an amusing effect on the local populace. He supposed he wouldn’t be able to hold the illusion long or the others would definitely try and kill his victim. Not that the thought of someone dying bothered him overly, but he did think maybe that was a little too far for a trick he was playing just to amuse himself.

User ImageShe was going to kill that woman.. her damn cousin. She was always such a man! Never standing up for herself and always giving into her aunts, Shyn's own mothers wishes without even bothering to think for herself! Ugh! It was utterly infuriating! This time they were going to have words however! Her cousin and her! They were going to have very very stern words.... She could feel a quiet growl rolling in her throat as she ran down the stairs away from Ryn's room... she was going to make her cousin pay for interrupting such a good day...

She bounded down the stairs and out of the rather nice inn, a somewhat grim look on her face as she pulled her dark fabric veil over the lower part of her face once again. No need to be identifiable in case this didn't go as smoothly as she wanted to... after that she skirted the edge of the building and slipped into the crowed... she could see her, her damned cousin.. dressed somewhat weirdly, true, and she must have her long tail of hair tucked into that... ridiculous jacket...

She pushed away from the wall, crouching low as she moved through the crowd, she was good at blending into the crowd, very good at not being seen, very good at keeping herself unnoticed. And she wasn't being looked fo, she had the element of surprise on her side...

A moment later she flung herself forward and into the warm body of her target. She'd swung a leg out to catch the other woman on the back of the legs. Her own weight would work to send them both rolling. She clung to the other drow, holding them close together as they fell so that rolling would work better, there was an Alley she wanted to reach. A scuffle would be nothing in the streets of this city... the west dark was such a violent place...

When they stopped she aimed to be sitting on top of her target, the bladed hand weapon held close to her throat..

"Follow me will you..?" she growled.

Div’eari was somewhat…surprised was an understatement. He was stunned when someone collided with him from behind. He had not been expecting for all that he knew the west dark was violent he just never expected that violence to be aimed at him. He went tumbling under the weight of his unknown assailant.

His mind, which normally wandered focussed immediately. It was impressive what personal danger could do for a persons concentration and he was able to note in a detached way that whoever it was knew what they were doing as they were rolled across the ground. He heard the growl of a voice, it sounded female and definitely angry. Her actual words though he was unable to understand….follow her? He had no idea who she was so what would he be doing following her?

One thing that counted against him was that he was not armed. He put maybe a little too much faith in his illusions and when he was ever needed for something he normally had someone with him to at least keep an eye on him. Not that he was helpless of course, his back slammed into the ground the action wringing a slight grunt from him as he tensed his body ready to push back against his assailant.

The feel of cool metal resting next to his throat though froze him in place his red eyes wide with surprise as he looked up into the face of an assassin. She had to be, most people did not go around with veils and well she didn’t look like a mage of any description. She lacked the armour to be a warrior. Then again he thought if he was going to attack someone he would probably go in a disguise, so she could be anything. Which at that point was not really important.

He realised that his thoughts were moving along maybe a little too rapidly the possibility of imminent death making his mind race for some way to get out of this. A weak smile touched his features,

“Hello there.” Maybe not the most intelligent of things to say especially if he was about to die. They were a bit pathetic as last words went. He wondered what she might be scared of mind racing even as he lay seemingly quiescent beneath her. He was certain any abrupt moves would be his last. He cursed his own lack of awareness that had landed him in this situation in the first place.

Wait a moment... that wasn't a woman's figured at all... Shyn had to admit as she looked down at the chest that she was sitting across. Her free hand brushed over it once as the look of confusion and consternation tugged at the edges of her expression... this was a little unfortunate... what on earth was wrong with her..? Then again... this was one very effeminate male she had run into... She sighed.

This meant she'd possibly left Ryn's companny for no good reason... unless she'd also seen the woman she thought she had... she wasn't sure. The risk was too great for her to just get up and go and see Ryn again anyway. She didn't want him to wind up drider bait after all. What kind of a man wore hair grips..? Really...

She didn't even react to him saying hello to him, she was merely glaring at him with her slightly unusual orangey red eyes. The long and short of it was however, that this was most definitely not the woman she had thought she'd seen... this was some rather unusual male that she had just tackled for no good reason... Finally it occurred to her that she should probably actually get off of the poor sod.. she had to have scared him witless... she was good at her job after all, and thought it highly unlikely that she'd been spotted.

"Uhm... Sorry..." She stated, pushing herself to the side and literally bouncing up to her feet. "You're... not a woman now, are you...?"

Div’eari’s eyes had only widened further when his “assailant” had brushed a hand across his chest. That was not, well, usual behaviour for someone who wanted him dead. There was a lot less blood than would usually be the case. The glare he had received had him tensing waiting for that blade to slice into him. What he did not expect was her to bounce off him. Her words left him speechless for only a moment before a cheeky grin split his features.

“Not now.” He nodded agreeably. She must have seen his illusions from before. He slid to his feet regaining at least a little of his usual calm as he regained his footing. “Though why my being a woman would be enough to warrant my death I hate to ponder.” A sparkle in his eyes his grin widened, “I shall thank Lloth that I was born without any feminine assets.” He realised with a start that the woman before him stood no taller than he.

He tilted his head looking at her; she definitely was not the usual sort of person for him to run into. Just by looking at her, he felt like he was in danger it was an odd sensation that he ignored with a shrug. His teachers would have sighed at his lack of sense when it came to self-preservation. After the meeting they had just had, he should be running already.

"I am Div'eari, a pleasure to meet you." Scratching a hand through his hair, he kept his eyes clearly focussed on her. He didn’t want to be surprised again, but then again even if she went for him it was fifty fifty as to whether he could avoid her. He wasn’t willing to underestimate her.

It was an unusual sensation being on the end of an apology and not being the one giving it. He wondered what she must look like beneath the veil narrowing his eyes on her face. To his side the air started to shimmer a replica of her appearing only for the figure to reach up and take off its veil. The features however, were indistinct. Div’eari seemed completely unaware of the apparition beside him.

"What are you doing..? Shyntyl stated, placing her hands on her hips as she levelled a fairly dark glare at the apparition to the side of the male.. At least I presume you have something to do with that and I didn't just spontaneously replicate myself somehow..." She wasn't sure exactly what to think about that... it irritated her either way.. then again things were generally pretty irritating just at the moment. She was probably going to be in a pretty narky mood for the time being.

"I'm Shyntyl." She added, curbing her angered irritation. "And... I mistook you for someone else for a moment, there. You looked just like them... or at least you were standing exactly where they had been for a moment.. or something like that. It's rather unusual. I've never made a mistake like that before." She shook her head, pushing the lose strands of her hair over her shoulder once again.

"Now... would you care to explain why you've replicated me..? What are you trying to do..?"

Div’eari straightened at her tone a frown creasing his features,

“What do you mean….” He allowed his words to trail off eyes going to the side to see what did indeed look like a copy of the female before him. He noted the fuzzy features with some irritation he really needed to practice more. He was either able to make a completely accurate body or face never both. It was one thing that set him apart from others. Yet he was able to make a lot more things before the rest of his illusions would start to grow fuzzy. It was only making things in the shape of any humanoid that he had problems with.

He waved his hand sharply the image shattering appearing to fall as a rain of black to the ground and soak into the earth. He supposed he was allowed some pride in his abilities. He had been nearly top of his class, if only he was better able to do people.

He muttered a curse under his breath before turning his gaze back to the female. He couldn’t believe he had turned away from her. She was dangerous and he was acting like he was some sort of green behind the ears trainee mage. She seemed like she was no longer trying to kill him though and that was a good thing.

“Well met Shyntyl.” With an apologetic grin he shrugged his shoulders, “My illusions sometimes get away from me. An overactive imagination can be a bit of a curse.” He tilted his head, “You may have seen me looking like a woman before though I was just bored and trying to entertain myself” He raised his hands cupped together as if he was holding water within them. His eyes unfocussed slightly and a silvery image started to rise from them slowly changing until there was a perfect replica of a female drow's face in his hands. “I just stole the appearance of a woman I saw back there.” A cheeky grin flushed his features, “I wouldn’t have if I knew it would be this much trouble.”

A small laugh left him, “I am a bit of a trouble magnet though so I probably would have done something else instead.”
PostPosted: Sat May 16, 2009 12:07 pm

"If you're a trouble magnet you should stay well clear of me.." Shyntyl muttered, moving back down the alley to look around her.. so he'd seen her cousin and selected her form out of any of the ones he could of taken.. perfect..ugh. Still.. at least he had provided her with a warning of the other woman's presence... but still.. it didn't excuse the fact he had literally ruined her day. She couldn't exactly go back now and just go 'Oh yeah, False alarm!' could she..? No. Especially not if that woman was skulking about.. ugh! But if she hadn't come rushing outside she might have managed to stay hidden!

With a sigh she turned her attention back to the illusionist, as illusionist he seemed to be. She might be irritated but she had still wrongfully attacked him, and while usually that wouldn't matter to a drow, well, to her it did. She'd seen the result of treating others badly, and it usually ended up with knife in the ribs... so for the time being she'd try to be nice to him.. ugh. She really just wanted to lamp him one for being an irritation... but never mind.

"Look, stop acting like a startled salamander. If I'd wanted to kill you, you'd be long dead by now and I'd have left with anything of value you had one you.." She sighed, clearly an irritated sound. "But as it stands I was mistaken, I thought you were someone else and frankly I could have done you some serious harm.. so I suppose I should do something to make it up to you in some way.." she arched an eyebrow slightly.

"How about a drink and a meal..? I know a nice place.. a ways away from here..." There was some regret in her voice as she let her eyes flick up to the building where she had originally had a room... "I need to eat lunch anyway.. so... care to join me..? And before you ask.. I'm no poisoner. I leave that for people less skilled with a blade.." She stepped towards the mouth of the alley. "Well? I won't wait forever..."

This had to be the most interesting day he had had in a while. Div’eari smiled sweeping a bow to Shyntyl,

“The thought that you might be a poisoner had never crossed my mind. My life is in your hands.” He moved forwards, it seemed she was honest enough. The irritation that he could hear in her tone convinced him more than anything. She didn’t sound like someone who really wanted to cause him any harm. It wasn’t even like he was important enough to send an assassin for either. He hadn’t questioned anyone recently who would want to send one after him. He hadn’t even done any particularly dangerous jobs.

There was also the fact that once she had mentioned food he had realised that he was actually a bit hungry. “I will take you up on your generous offer of a meal. Lead on my lady.” It was evident that he had a whimsical turn of phrase when he felt like it. He supposed he was a bit too trusting for a drow, but well it took so much effort to be suspicious and she had apologised for attacking him. He shrugged beaming at her as he hurried forwards towards where she stood at the mouth of the alley.

He had never imagined when he wished for something interesting to happen that he would be knocked off his feet by this female. The thought made him laugh and beside him a tiny image of someone in bright clothing being knocked over repeated until he noticed it and narrowed his eyes the picture disappearing. He was going to have to work on that one day.

"Okay then.. good this way." Shyntyl gave the odd male that she'd bumped into a quick glance once again before she stepped right back out of the alley and into the crowd. She trusted he'd keep up... as... strange and almost childlike as he seemed to be. She figured he was hungry enough to want the food... she'd certainly caught his interest when she'd mentioned it after all.

He was a funny one, that was for sure, he was intensely too trusting... she could have killed him so many times over by this point, which was just worrying... never mind though... she'd just try to keep an eye on him at least for now. She'd not really feel great if something bad happened to him while she'd distracted him from whatever it was he had been doing before. She might have been mad at him, but he seemed so hapless... ugh.. what was a woman to do?

She didn't feel much like talking as she walked through the streets, so she made a point of keeping herself in front of him. The place she was heading to however wasn't that far away and she soon found herself standing at the doorway to the inn like establishment where she had eaten before.

"So.. you ready to get some food then?" She asked, pushing the door open slightly and smiling in as patient a way as she could manage. The walk and calmed her down to some degree. She wasn't as angry as sh had been before at any rate. "You can have more or less what you want... but don't go picking the most expensive thing.. okay?"

Div’eari followed Shyntyl easily through the crowded streets attention only distracted a couple of times looking at people as they walked. She stayed just ahead of him no matter how he tried to catch up her own pace seeming to speed up as his did. He shrugged and followed after her the promise of food still holding his attention.

He smiled broadly as they seemed to reach the place she was taking him to. She also seemed ina better mood judging from the smile she sent his way. He moved closer eagerly wide eyes holding a sparkle,

“I am always ready for food.” He laughed, “I will of course not place too much of a burden on your purse.” He stuck his tongue out at her mirth easy to read on his features as he reached out holding the door tone cheeky, “Ladies first.” He wasn’t stupid enough to let her walk in behind him not after what had happened last time she had been behind him, even if she had apologised. He didn’t enjoy rolling around on the floor that much.

Then again he could have chosen a worse person to roll around with and she hadn’t killed him which put her high up on his people he liked list. Not that he had a list, but if he did have a list…. His eyes grew a bit vacant as he wondered if he should write a list. He blinked remembering where he was just controlling his urge to roll his eyes at his own antics, no wonder people thought he was touched in the head. He stood ready to follow Shyntyl immediately into the establishment.

Shyntyl rolled her eyes and stepped inside, automatically pushing past a group of young males who were drinking somewhat noisily by the door. "Be gone, drunken pests." She muttered as she pushed them to the side, moving past them and towards one of the servers that she recognised. "There's two of us here.. take us to a table out the back in the dining area. Now if you will." She looked back at the strange little waif she'd picked up. "Come on, keep up." She stepped after the server that was walking away from her, hurrying to find a place for them to eat.. Shyntyl was here fairly often, they knew not to mess with her too greatly.

As they were led through to the back room the assassin shook her head. Glancing back once again to make sure that the illusionist was still there. Eventually she was shown to a table where she sat down at once and lifted a hand to gesture to the seat opposite here. "Bring us some wine..." She requested of the server, before casting a look at the illusionist's... "Actually you'd better water it down a little as well... to be on the safe side.."

It was with some amusement that the Illusionist followed Shyntyl. She seemed to be keeping a careful eye on him and he wondered what she suddenly expected him to do. Thinking about it though he had told her he was a trouble magnet and he hadn’t been kidding. It was more than possible for him to get himself into trouble in the few moments she looked away.

He slid past the group of young males much the same as she had and looked around at the place. They seemed to know her the way they moved to do her bidding pretty much immediately. He had assumed she was maybe someone better than the normal crowd that hung around these areas, but the way they treated her tended to suggest that she was maybe even more important than he had guessed at. He wondered for a moment she had been doing around here before pushing the thought away, it wasn’t really any of his business.

He took the seat opposite her when they arrived at a table. He couldn’t help laughing as his sharp ears caught her words to the server.

“You seem to lack faith in my ability to hold wine.” He winked, “In this case though you are right to be cautious.” He leant back in his chair, “They seem to know you well here.” He glanced around again eyes seemingly drinking everything in. He could be observant when it suited him, but only when it came to appearances, he was an Illusionist after all and it was in his best interest to be able to remake things he had seen for only short periods of time.

He turned his attention back to the table muttering, “Hmm I wonder what they have. I am not too fussy as long as there aren’t too many vegetables in it.” He pulled a face making a melodramatic shudder at the thought of the dreaded vegetables. “Give me some meat some bread and wine and I am a happy drow.” He grinned, “It’s the simple things. Mind fruit isn’t too bad.”
PostPosted: Sun May 17, 2009 4:01 pm

"I have absolutely no faith in your ability to hold wine... none what so ever. And by the love of the Goddess do not think you're going to avoid vegetables while you're at a table with me. They're important and we go to a lot of trouble to have them brought down here.." She eyed the young male in front of her. "You will eat what you're given.. there will be meat.. but you will also have something more nourishing.." She was definite on that point... what was wrong with her..? Why was she mothering him like this?

"I come here often. The people here know me. So I tend to find it easy to get a table.." She glanced at the youngster with a slightly arched eyebrow.

"If you eat only meat and bread you'll get fat. You don't want that I'm sure.." Again with the fussing over him. She wasn't really sure why... It was almost like it was a reflex.. then again, she had always enjoyed looking after her siblings children... she liked them, she wanted her own. But the problem was that she didn't like the idea of being a single mum so much. Even with the family support that she had.

"But anyway.. as I was saying... vegetables are a must."

Div’eari made a show of dropping his head into his hands voice mournful,

“Anything but the vegetables.” It was ruined when he looked up a wide grin across his features. He had for a moment almost straightened and started to nod along with agreement at the tone of her voice. It reminded him of someone, but the thought was an errant one that he ignored. It wasn’t really important. If it would make her happy to eat some vegetables he would do so. The thought made his face crease a moment though, if only they could be more appetising.

She was right though he didn’t want to get fat, “Getting fat would be a crime, just think of all the people who would miss out on my stunning figure.” His own words were hard to say without breaking out into gales of laughter. He brushed a hand up into his hair redoing the clips that rested in his grey locks. It was an unconscious action as he studied her.

He leant forward a little a winsome smile, or so he thought, on his features; it worked on some people better than others, “I will eat my vegetables I promise.” He called out to a server moving past, “Make sure I have plenty of vegetables with my food not just meat.” He had to control a grimace. The man gave him a blank look even as he nodded and hurried off back towards what Div’eari presumed was the kitchen. He must have caught the man in the middle of something else, he shrugged not too bothered.

He bent over as if bowing over the table, “I hope that appeases you my lady.” There was the cheeky wink again. Part of him thought that at least he could pretend to eat the vegetables if they got to be too much. Illusions could be useful for something. Yet he was always willing to try something once and she was the one paying for the meal after all. It was only polite to do as she asked. Even if he wasn't particularly enamoured of them. Plus there was that nagging sensation that made him want to just nod and agree to eat his vegetables. His brow creased a moment as he thought, but a server approached their table distracting him.

The watered down wine was placed on the table and the illusionist took his cup and sipped from it with glee like a small child being allowed a treat. Smiling happily at Shyntyl the provider of said wine, even if it was technically the server who had brought it, the female before him was the one who had asked for it.
