Ifrit stood on the mountain ridge, overlooking the vast, dry-dead plains before him. A fire had recently ravaged the plains, destroying any tree saplings and popping open the hibernating seeds, allowing the land to remain as prairie. Whether he had aided in this destructive rejuvenation he would not say, but he looked over the handiwork of the fire with smug satisfaction. Fire was the ultimate power, able to destroy and renew life, a powerful weapon and a nearly impenetrable defense... His embodiment of this element was unmatched, even by the other fire lions who prowled these lands... They simply borrowed the power he brought to these lands.
With one last sweep of his gaze, Ifrit bounded down the vertical cliff side with super-lion dexterity and walked over the recently cooled rubble, mindful not to step on the still hot char, not for fear of burning himself, but not being able to bring himself to extinguish a harmless little ember. Yes... the rebirth had worked quite well.

Hinata had found another new trail. Something told her that she would always be able to find such things in a place as large as this. Trees and plants surrounded her as she padded through, very excited to see where the path lead. A bad scent reached her nose...a scent that caused her to run now toward it.
She froze, tense as if she'd been turned to stone. Trees, plants, brush as far as she could see had all been burned away. She fought to keep her emotions at bay as she padded out toward a lone stump. It was charred and barely there. She placed her paw against it and chanted something.
"Byakugan!"
Veins grew around her eyes as she looked into the stump, searching for even the smallest bits of energy...something to tell her if it was alive or dead. Finally, she spotted a bit nearer the roots. She stepped back and momentarily "stood" on her hind legs as water formed on her front paws. When she dropped back down, her paws covered the stump, sending the water to it's roots. With a sigh she pulled away, eyes normal again.
Little buds had started to sprout from the stump...

Something near the edge of the burnt prairie caught Ifrit's attention, and he looked over his shoulder to see a lion near a burnt stump, and the new growth from it. What does she think she's doing, nurturing that dead stump to life... He let out a low growl, which eventually erupted into a full-chested roar, claiming his power over this land and warning her of his presence - and that it was not one to be messed with.

Hinata's ears twitched as a strange noise appeared. When it turned into a rather loud threatening roar, she yelped in fright, her pale eyes wide in shock. Without looking for who or what had made the noise, she dove into a thick bush. Her tail still showed though, along with...well most of her.

Ifrit trotted over to the stump, singing the new sprouts with his tail as he passed it and walked to the lioness hiding in the bush on the edge of the disaster area. "Well well, a water lioness thinks that she is far superior to the entity of fire, hm?" He seemed to spit his words at her behind, his eyes sharp. "Don't you realize that burning is the first step to the rebirth of a prairie!?"

Hinata gasped as she heard a male speak to her. A mean male. She shyly moved to face him, though kept herself lower to the ground. "I...I'm not superior to...a..anybody...I...I just...really like...plants..."
She swallowed hard, almost visably shaking now. "P...please forgive me...I...I did not know..." Her voive was soft, and barely audible, but it was sincere.

A bit confused by her shaking, he took a few steps back, though still kept his full height. Wrinkling his nose, and peered down it at her. "Well, you're quite obviously not superior if you act like that." His words were quite clipped and his tone judgmental of her every movement. "If you don't know, don't assume that harm is the goal of every disaster."

Hinata nodded very softly, watching the fire lion as he moved and spoke to her. His words were not exactly nice, but much nicer than before. As she was used to being judged, he did not bother her that way.
"I won't...I'm sorry..." She stood up fully now, though she was prepared to run at any moment, should he grow angry again. "P..please...do not burn me..."

Ifrit glanced over his shoulder at the stump to make sure the new growth had been effectively burned before replying to her request. "You think I'd want to attack you? I somehow think that that would be a less than desirable action on my part for many reasons. Besides, unnecessary battles lead to unnecessary injury."

"You are right...I'm sorry..." She now looked away, unsure of what to say or do. She dare not move lest he be angered again, nor did she wish to say something wrong. "I am..Hinata..."

Looking her over more carefully now, Ifrit considered her strange clothing. He had made the note that she was a water lion, but not much more than that initially. "I am Ifrit, Guardian of Fire... Depending the context, I may also be referred to as an Aeon, or a summon." He said the last word with a hint of distaste, but left it simply at that.

Her eyes widened as he spoke his name. "Guardian of..fire? You must be...very powerful..." She looked at him with a bit more interest now rather than fear. "Ifrit...your name...it sounds very powerful..."

Ifrit puffed out his chest at the comment, raising a brow, "Your senses are keen, then." He looked her over very carefully, trying to sense if she was a power he had not known of. Sensing no actual power from her, he glanced back at the stump again. "How did you make those grow from certain destruction?"

Hinata gave a very soft smile at the compliment. Or at least, she figured it was one. Her webbed ears twitched as Ifrit asked her how she'd grown little plants from the charred stump.
"Oh...well..I can see energy...with a skill passed down my bloodline...I saw that part of the stump was still alive so...I used my power to heal and skill to manipulate water...I cooled the area..then healed it...so little plants grew..."
