OOC: They are at the foot of the mountains
Candy Heart stood at the beginning of a path that led up into the mountains. She frowned and thought about what Tulgey had told her. She was going to take his advice, but...going alone? That was insane and if Zuilian hadn't been off in search of Vidia then she was sure he'd have scolded her for even thinking it. So there she was, wanting to go forward, but not wanting to be alone on the journey.

For his part, Gaspard was looking forward to some much needed alone time. He'd been thrust into the company of so many unfamiliar mares as of late that he really hadn't found much time for himself to think. Between caring for Shadi and randomly encountering a plethora of strangers, and attempting to maintain interesting conversation with them, he'd barely been able to have time to string two independent thoughts together about anything but a mare. He wasn't used to having his thoughts occupied in such a manner, and it had led to a bit of internal disquiet.
Shame on him for thinking it was about time he settled down. The spirits had obviously been listening, and were pummeling him with prospects.
Well, that was neither here nor there for the day. He'd checked on Shadi, and now had a few hours to himself to wander and have some blessed solitude before it was time to go back. He didn't mind watching over her, and felt it was his responsibility for having discovered her in the first place, but it was nice to have some peace of mind.
Rounding the corner, he stopped short at the familiar sight of a female's rump. It wasn't anyone he knew, which made the fact that he could recognize the backside of a female instantly all the more distressing. Worse, she seemed to be the hyper aware type, because she instantly turned and spotted him.
Forcing himself to swallow the great sigh that wanted to escape, he nodded his head, approaching her slowly. A greeting couldn't hurt.
"Hello, miss."

Yuuka Kurokawa Candy dipped her head gracefully in response to the strange stallion's greeting. She hadn't truly expected anyone to come along. Giving a timid smile she gave a greeting of her own. "O-oh, h-hello t-there. M-my y-you l-look f-familiar." It was the truth. The more she thought of it, the more familiar he seemed. "He reminds me of Corine,"she murmured to herself.

Gaspard blinked, halting in his approach as the mare stuttered a greeting in return to his. It had been quite some time since he'd stumbled upon such a skittish mare; the last one he'd simply left to her own devices, as his presence seemed to cause such undue stress to her that it had been the only kind thing to go. He was considering doing the same here, and finding somewhere else to go for his solitude, but...
Familiar? He cocked his head ever so slightly, eyes narrowing a bit in thought. His coat, while not completely distinct on its own, resembled his sister's a great deal. Perhaps this mare had met Corine? It seemed the only logical conclusion, as both of his parents were still far away.
Voice quiet and steady, he asked, "Perhaps you have met my sister. Corine?"

"Y-yes I do. S-she's a dear f-friend of mine. You m-must be her brother. She spoke of you a b-bit." The stutter was quickly getting better since she felt as if she knew this stallion through knowing his sister. Candy's smile widened a bit as she took half a step closer, "She h-helped me g-get better about my shyness and my s-stutter." She noted that his eyes were narrowed. Perhaps he didn't want to be disturbed? "Oh d-dear. I-I'm sorry. Am I d-disturbing you? I was trying to decide whether or not to go e-exploring a bit in the mountains. I was just w-waffling about it because I...well I'm a-afraid to go alone."

She was as nervous as anything he'd ever seen, and it was rubbing off on him a bit, making him feel self conscious and brutish in comparison to the petite, jumpy little mare. He didn't especially enjoy the feeling, and he found himself shifting his weight a bit, wondering why one who seemed so apprehensive of him would step forward.
Still, if she was friends with Corine, she ought to know he was nothing to fear. The very last thing his sister would do would be to give anyone the wrong impression of him, especially a mare, as she knew how poor his social skills were in relation to them. Perhaps it wasn't him; the problem was simply that he was a stallion, as often his problem with mares was their gender.
Gaspard had never been good at reassurance, and so he found himself a little at a loss for what to say. He settled for blinking, clearing the slight frown from his face, and saying slowly, "You do not disturb me. I was thinking of going into the mountains myself."
Well. She was a friend of Corine's. And aside from that, it would be the kind thing to do to offer to escort her. "If you'd like, you may join me. I don't know my way yet either, but you wouldn't be alone."

"Are you sure you wouldn't mind. I'd hate to be a burden." Candy was never one to push her company on one who didn't want it. "It would be nice to have a companion and Corine did say you were kind but I wouldn't want to abuse your kindness the first day we met." Now she was just being silly, but she really didn't want to drive the stallion mad later on if he really would rather be alone.

Did she want company or not? He was having a difficult time deciding. Her words were straightforward enough, but her posture and the hesitance with which they were delivered seemed to speak otherwise. He would have to ask Corine if she was normally this way, or if it was a strange phenomenon that had developed because of his presence. He was almost willing to bet it was the latter, given his past experiences with mares.
Somewhat at a loss, he merely replied, "It would be not trouble."

Candy brightened immediately. She did tend to have such a problem speaking to stallions. "W-wonderful. I'd love for you to accomapny me." She gave Gaspard a bright smile. "Shall we get started or do you need to get ready first?"

Get ready...? What else would he need to do?
A little perplexed, both because of her attitude as well as the question, he hesitated a moment longer, ears flicking slightly as he considered her. When he came up with no ideas for what she could mean, he cleared his throat, glancing beyond her to the mountain trail.
It didn't look too perilous. If anything, it should be a leisurely walk, as he didn't intend to go anywhere near the peaks. He'd traveled in the mountains before, and so well knew his own limits and a safe means to climb most mountains, but perhaps there was something different about these?
"I believe I am ready," he said finally, gaze traveling back to her. After a slight pause, he asked, "... are you?"

Candy nodded, "Yes I'm ready. Let's go!" She smiled cheerfully as she started up the path and away from the stallion. It would be good to travel. It might just help her get over her shyness.
