Money system of Hiast
Hiast's money consists of several types of shaped gemstones. Only crystals that are particularly good quality and easy to shape become official money and bartering with uncut and flawed gemstones as well as other objects of some worth is not uncommon. Please note the rarity of these gems is not quite the same as they are on Earth although they are some of the more precious ones on Hiast they are also available enough that they can be an effective currency.
Diamonds:
Diamonds are the highest denomination of money and are shaped into actually diamonds. They are the rarest form of currency and used only for extremely big purchases.
Rubies :
Second highest denomination of money, they are shaped into small pyramids. Rubies are used to by big things like high quality animals, passage between two continents, land acquisition. etc.
Sapphires:
Second lowest denomination of currency, Sapphires are shaped into five pointed stars.. They are most commonly used in small amounts to buy finished products and small animals like chickens or goats etc. Larger amounts of them can get you most practical things you'd need.
Emeralds:
The lowest denomination of currency, emeralds are shaped into small hexagons about the size of a quarter. They are most commonly used in small amounts to buy food and raw materials.
