Tsotsi rolled onto his feet, stood up, and shook the yellow dust from his fur. He yawned and twitched his ears, feathered earring swaying in the movement.
The hyena had meant to take a nap, but somehow, no matter which way he rolled over, pointy pieces of grass kept stabbing him in the eyelids.
How the hell could anyone sleep when there were pointy pieces of grass stabbing their eyelids?
A hot breeze ruffled the hyena's hair, and Tsotsi glared at the setting sun, angry that it was going to sleep fine while he had to stay awake TIRED. But he shrugged off his annoyance, letting the feelings roll off his back. That was all he could do, anyway. Just let it roll off his back. Like everything else.
With that angsty thought, the male took his leave of the tall grasses and made his way onto the open savanna. Maybe he'd get lucky and find something to eat? Or a pretty lady to talk to...
"HAH. Right." Tsotsi told himself, grinning at the thought.

Indy hadn't been for a walk in a while. She had managed to stake herself out a very small grab of land out in the non-pridal lands; and she generally liked to stay there. But for some reason, today felt different, and so she decided to leave her little, pilfered home for the day. Maybe she would find something to have a little game of chase with, or some other hyenas to roughhouse. She shrugged her shoulders and blinked dolefully at the horizon under the drooping sunshine.
The sleek-bodied female shook herself and looked over her shoulder. There was certainly a desire to leave and go for a walk, but then again...there was also the need for motivation to do such things. Indy felt as though the fact that the sun was going down had lain a huge, lazy blanket over her. And it was strange, because she always felt so active at night. It was in her genes. However, today was looking like it was definitely turning out to be a lazy night.
It was then that the red-furred dog noticed a scent on the wind. And it was obvious to her that the scent was that of her own species. It was a distinct smell; she nodded her head to herself and rose to her feet, stretching slightly as she did so. With one last look around, Indy began walking toward the scent. It had been a while since she had wandered into the grasslands, but as she gained on them, she felt a sudden lust for them again.
