Location: Wisteria Apartments -> Farstep Carnival

The delivery man made his way to the building, double-checking his list to get the right apartment. He knocked at the door, adjusting the potted plant he was carrying. When the woman answered the door, he handed the gray-striped day lily to her. He had her sign for the delivery, then left.
The day lily had a small envelop attached with a note inside written in an elegant hand-writing, much more legible than one would credit to the author of the letter.
Dear Ellandra,
I'm sorry to write this, but I didn't want to not say anything. By the time this reaches you, Farstep will have moved to a new district. It's not out of the city, but it is a much further trip from your apartment. I don't know that I can see you until we're back closer. Don't give up on me, Elle. I'll come for you. There's not a power in this world or the next that will keep me from you. I love you too much. Chin up, my pretty lass. I waited all my life for you. I promise I won't make you wait near as long for my return.

Ellandra placed the daylilies - were those really grey stripes on them, the lovely things? - and read the attached note, tears rising up in her eyes. She knew this would happen, but it didn't make her feel less sad. She stroked the petals of one of the plants idly, then sighed a little and went about her business for the day - she still had that baboon story to work on, after all. Faolan would keep his promise, she had no doubts about that.
None whatsoever.

It was a long ride from the new district and Faolan was positively soaked by the time he reached Ellandra's home. He'd borrowed the horse, promising to return it that night, and taken off to see Elle as soon as the carnival was finished setting up. He got the horse under the balcony to Ellandra's apartment and started yelling as loud as he could.
"Ellandra! Ellandra Sanders!"
He didn't even care at that moment if he was bothering her neighbors, though he did hold on tight when the horse reared up a few times.

Ellandra was lost in a world of ink, paper, and her imagination when she thought she heard someone call her name. This pulled her out of her writing haze enough to really listen, and she heard it again. Almost immediately she dropped the pen onto her desk and hurried out to where the voice was calling from - her balcony? or rather, just below it -, looking around hurriedly for the one who had called her. "F-Faolan?!?" But she'd just gotten the note from him, what in the world was he ding here already?!?
. . . Not that she was complaining, mind you. It was just . . . surprising. And yet, so typically Faolan to show up right after a note arrived saying that they might not meet again for some time.
"Faolan?!?"
. . . Silly, wonderful fortune-teller.

The horse reared up again, Faolan getting it back under control and reining it around to see her better, not bothered by the rain splashing his face. He smiled up at her, relief and pleasure at getting to see her again.
"Come with me, Elle. You said you wanted to run away and join the circus. Today's the day," he called up.

"I-in the rain?" Ellandra yelped, but she was laughing, laughing despite the curious and disdainful looks starting to show up from neighbors furtively peeking out their windows to see the strange young man on horseback. She smiled brightly at Faolan, despite the misty, rainy weather, and ducked inside to gather a few things, including one small, brightly colored scarf for Ziazan - she had a larger version of the same stored away in a closet for when the little Proto reached its next stage.
After gathering her things together - it took only a few minutes, as she simply tossed her clothes into a bag, though the little scarf she took more care with - she hurried back outside and down the steps, pausing only when she realized that, oh, my, that was a. .. . a very tall horse that Faolan was riding.
"I - I . . . oh," she breathed, her grip on her bag tightening.

"No fear, Elle. No more fear, okay?" Faolan held a hand down for her, easily swinging her up to straddle the horse before him. He kept one arm around her waist in a firm grip, then reined the horse around and rode for the new location of the carnival grounds, the horse's hooves clattering on the street.

Ellandra squeaked as the horse took off, immediately noticing some of the. . . things. . . the motion of its gait did. Her blush flared up accordingly, and she tried desperately not to drop her bag. Still, despite her blush, she managed to speak rather coherently to Faolan as they road along. "I - I wasn't really frightened, exactly. . . I'm just. . . not used to horses," she said quietly, trying to peer up at him from where he held her. "And I . . . certainly wasn't expecting you t-to show up right after I received your note saying we wouldn't be seeing each other for a while!"

Faolan laughed, hugging her to him where his arm was around her. "Give me some credit, lass. I was thinking you'd get that letter days before I was able to come get you." He nuzzled her, purring against her ear. "And now I have you. I'm never letting go again, Elle."

"Of course you're not," Ellandra said calmly, a content smile spreading across her face. "I won't let you," she added, just a tiny bit of cheekiness in her expression as she beamed up at him -twisting her neck rather awkwardly to do so. She felt so. . . right, just being with him; in a way she never felt when they were apart. She didn't really understand it, but she liked it, because with Faolan, she felt truly alive.

Faolan kissed her when she looked up at him, though briefly. He reigned the horse back through the city to Farstep. The ride was a long one, but it distance didn't seem as great now that he had Elle with him again. It wasn't long before they were galloping through the entrance gates of the carnival and to the stables for Faolan to return the borrowed horse.

Ellandra was thankful that she could trust Faolan so thoroughly with her safety, or the galloping would surely have frightened her to death! Instead, however, she felt - maybe not quite relaxed, not with the speed the horse was moving at - but comfortable and content. "You know," she said, so thankful that her stutter was all but gone when in the presence of the fortune-teller, "The flowers you sent really are lovely; thank you."
And they were lovely, very pretty daylilies in a pretty pot - but they would sit and wait at her apartment. Hmm . . . she might need someone to take care of them. The thought of the brightly-colored, yet grey-streaked flowers brought her thoughts to another brightly colored object she had recently obtained, and she spoke again, this time in a quieter voice that only Faolan (and perhaps the horse) would hear. "I finally got that scarf for Ziazan. . . it's - it's not like the ones you can find here, but I hope it will like it anyway."

Faolan was quiet as they rode at a much slower pace through the carnival. He smiled, though, when she mentioned the flowers. "I'm glad you liked them. We'll have to send someone around to your apartment to get them and anything else you want or absolutely need from there." His look was playful, but there was a deep seriousness in his eyes. "You're never going back there, Elle. This is a kidnapping, remember? You belong to me now, just as I surely belong to you."
Arriving at the stable, Faolan swung down from the horse, glad to be on the ground again, no matter how shaky his legs were from so much riding. He led the horse into the stable, putting it in the stall before helping Ellandra down. Shouldering her bag and leading her back out, he closed the stable doors and took her to his vardo. It was only when they were inside, lit by the light of the lanterns around the small wagon, that one could see Faolan was rather bruised about his face and arms, there was promise of more bruises being hidden by his clothing.
"Zia will appreciate the scarf, but it hasn't been feeling too well," Faolan said softly. Despite the love showing in his eyes, there was also a haunted look there. Something had happened to the two of them since they'd last seen Elle and it was clearly stamped on the young man's face.

Ellandra had been thinking about what items she would truly want to take from her apartment - and how to go about cancelling her lease, there was no need to keep paying it if she wasn't going back, after all - all the way from the stable to the vardo. Once they were inside, however, her eyes darkened as she took in her fortune-teller's injuries and expression, and she dropped her bag to the floor, grabbing his hands.
"W-what happened?" She asked quietly, seriously, with worry and fear saturating her voice. "Is - is everything okay? What can I do?"
