Hey Dad look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according
To plan?
Do you think I'm wasting
My time doing things I
Wanna do?
But it hurts when you
Disapprove all along

And now I try hard to make it
I just want to make you proud
I'm never gonna be good
Enough for you
I can't pretend that
I'm alright
And you can't change me

'Cuz we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be Perfect
Now it's just too late
And we can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be Perfect

Saryichu had finally made a good distance away from the old den, though her ears were still pinned to her head. Her eyes watered, threatened by tears again, as they often were these days. Finally stopping at a river, she sat down and curled her tail around her paws, head lowered as the tears flowed. How could her life have gone so wrong? Why did her mate leave her? Take her son? Why did her current mate stay away? Keep two of her daughters away?

At this point in her life, she felt herself near the point of jumping from a high cliff, praying her eyes would not open again. But she had an infant daughter. That choice could not happen. But how could she live through such depression?

Tavari wandered the lands, the wisdom of ages in her eyes and spirits dancing about her neck. To walk the land of InBetween was her curse, her blessing, her gift and punishment. She was what she was, what she was born and bred to be.
Shaman. Healer. Judge. Jury. Protector.
She paused, scenting the wind and frowning to herself. Disappointment, bitter and cloying, carried on the wind. Along with a lioness's scent, and a heart-rending sadness.
"To jump is to take the cowards way out." She murmured without inflection, cresting the hill to overlook the sobbing female. "And the sea is many strides away.. You will never find your 'high cliff' at the rate you are going..."
It might have been harsh. But the truth is often black and white.. And while there are shades of grey, this was not one of them.

She did not even look up, though her paw did attempt to wipe the tears away. New ones simply replaced those she'd wiped. Whoever had spoken those words had said them in a manner that only caused her to be angry at herself.

"Maybe so...I will not jump regardless if I could get there...my daughter needs me..." She looked over her shoulder at who was nearby, noting it was a lioness. One that seemed...un worldly?

"Otherwordly." She offered as she slowly strode down the hill. "I am of Here, and There... And if you will not jump, do not think of it... Gather what strength is in you and instead search for a better path... That is all any can ask of you."
Tavari stopped half-way down the hill, considering the stranger. Her eyes glared with her mother's glow, then returned to their normal all-seeing cyan.
"And when you stand before Them at the end, that is all They will see."

Saryichu turned, standing, as she faced this new lioness. Her appearance caused her to tense up, though the otherworldly lioness spoke in a manner that calmed her somehow.

"All I can think of doing now is raising my only young one...my other cubs are grown now...Yurichyo still needs me..."

Tavari felt a ripple of what might have been pain cross through her chest. Cubs... Would she live to know such happiness? Would a male want her for the mother of his young?
Such things were not important, not at the moment.
She nodded at the female. "Cubs are important... They are the future, and one must always protect the future... So you have your course, you will raise your young. But where? Is there a Pride that offers a haven to you? Or friends whom you might rely on for protection?"

Saryichu nodded softly, a gentle smile crossing her face. The thought of her young one made her so very happy. And she was a Grandmother as well.

"I have no Pride, mate, or friends...I wonder these lands with my daughter, alone."

She sighed, the smile gone again.

Tavari flicked her tail as though it were no great trouble. "As long as one stays away from harmful rogues and those bedeviled hyenas, it is no harm to wander.. I know many females that roam, not calling a pride home.. They have formed a band of sorts, the numbers offering them protection and the security of company and a shared kill.. It is easier to hunt with fellows rather than killing each day for yourself.. And that way some switch off to hunt one day, rest the next, and so on.."
She frowned, considering something for a moment. "Anyway, they cannot be the only group, so surely you will find one to join should you wish it.. And if not, you might take up with simply one or two of the other wanderers, perhaps there are others that have kits as you do, so you may all share the responsibility of raising, teaching, and feeding them."

Saryichu gave a soft nod as she listened to what the lioness told her. It hit home and caused her to realize what she had to do. Not just for herself either. But for her young daughter. To risk Yurichyo's life every day and night was not something she could do...not anymore.

"Thank you Tavari...you are very wise...and your right. I must find a place or other lionesses to call a family. So neither I or my daughter have to suffer..."

"It would be better for the young to have someone her own age.." Tavari added. "It is important for cubs to learn and grow together... That is what makes them strong Pride members, mothers and fathers when they are adults..."
She frowned. "Surely there is someone you know? I cannot believe your pride would cast you out, or even let you leave, with nothing but your daughter... It is too dangerous, in this day and age... A great many evils wander that were not always here..."
