It can be difficult to find settings and places where polyamoury is accepted and respected- not to mention finding places to meet other poly people! So I thought this might be a good thread to post up comming events and conventions for alt. relationships where we can go to meet others who share our perspectives or at least respect them.
Although I have yet to find a purely poly convention my two best experiences were at the
Anarchy Book Fair, where books and pamplets on Polyamoury were handed out and polyamoury was discussed as a relationship where freedom for individuals was truly respected.
Domcon, although it's a convention for BDSM, many people who practice BDSM also practice polyamoury and polyamoury is respected and treated as a common and respectable part of many people's lives. I have to add that everyone here was extremely friendly and nice.
With both of these conventions people spoke openly about poly and were free to show off their poly affections without fear of judgment.
Cons:
Domcon:
Hardcore bondage workshops and demonstrations. Think CBT, Florentine , Surface Sensual Piercing, Bendgay in Odd Places-- if you don't know what any of these things mean you definitely should do research before going.
Anarchy Book Fair:
Constant smell of BO from hardcore punks and hippies.
Long and intense lectures on the need for revolution.
Any suggestions? I'd love to meet more people since me and my boyfriend are the only "poly" people we currently know.

There are options of searching for local support groups or kink groups. I've found a number of people who are in semi-local kink groups are actually quite welcome and open to the concept. [Which is a shame since I'm not much into those sorts of kinks myself D: ].
I've heard that the Midwest Bi-sexual Lesbian Gay Transgender Ally College Confrence also has had positive panels on the subject of polyamory in the past and have heard about accepting and supportive LGBT groups helping out with this sort of thing as well.

Being here in south central KS, I looked for poly groups to meet up with, there were none in the area. But we did hang out with a few swingers groups and have been active in the local BDSM community.
