Aniwaya had been quiet the whole walk home in Wolfey's arms. He half listened to Wolfey's rambles while looking all around and sniffing the air when others walked by. His face was calm, but his fast wagging tail and the gleam in his bright green eyes was a sign of how excited he truly was about everything around them.

Like always when nervous or excited Wolfey rambled. The poor babe in his arms was forced to endure this inhumane torture on the long walk home. He glanced down at Ani every few minutes as if not quite sure If he was real or a dream. After the second mile of carrying the boy he knew for sure this was reality, there is no way a dream would start feeling this heavy.

"Finally," Wolfey breathed the word out, He was glad they had finally arrived home. He unlocks the door, flips the lights on and walks over the threshold of his humble abode. He turns Ani around in his arms so the boy can see everything. "Welcome home Ani, I know its kinda messy and not too big but its warm and filled with love."

Wolfey closes the door and sets Ani down in the big lounge chair. He takes the bag of baby supplies Rune had given him at the Center and drops it beside the chair.

"If you will just stay put for few minutes so I can straighten up a bit." Wolfey pats the boy on the head then turns to get to work on putting some of his sketches, art tools and various other pieces of junk laying around away.

Ani stays put for few moments but soon gets bored of the scenery before him so he scoot-crawls himself over to the armrest of the chair. As he gets there he grabs onto the soft fabric of the chair then smiles at the soft fluffy feel of it. When Wolfey returns from his emergency house cleaning, he looked at Ani a rather stunned expression appears on Wolfey's face then laughs at the sight before him. Ani had managed to pull himself up by the arm of the chair to a standing position, and was now leaning as far as he could to look at the floor. All Wolfey could see was a shorts clad rear end with a tail wagging back and forth so fast it was a blur.

He walks up and grabs the boy in his arms, spins them around in a circle then holds Ani to his chest. "I see now I must grow another eye to not lose sight of you Lil Mr. Curiosity!" He then tickles him under his chin. After the spinning Ani just looks at Wolfey with those curious eyes of his, then he breaks out into a giggle. "Well it seems as though someone has finally found their voice!" Wolfey smiles, Ani smiles back and puts his hand on Wolfey's nose.

Wolfey cuddled Ani then sees the time. "Oh shoot its getting late and I haven't even fed you yet!" He puts Ani back in the chair and picks up the baby bag. He put the bag on the one multipurpose table he owned and opened it. Thankfully the bottles full of milk were on the top, he takes them out and puts all but one in the fridge. Wolfey gets a small pot fills it halfway up with water then sets it on the stove, with the bottle in it, heating the formula.

Holding and slightly bouncing Ani on his hip, Wolfey keeps his eye on the bottle. After waiting the few minutes as instructed by Rune before he came home, he dripped a few drops of the milk on his wrist. Ani reaching for the bottle making a "uh uh uh" gave Wolfey the idea that his lil guy was hungry. "Ok, ok I see ya! Well its not burning me but its warm, here you go."

He cradles Ani in the crook of his arm and holds the bottle in the other hand. Ani latches his mouth onto the n****e like he hadn't eaten in weeks, he grabs it with his hands and feet as well, his little tail swishing back and forth contently. Wolfey was surprised at the quick work the baby made of the bottle. Wolfey, rocking Ani in his arms, places the bottle by the sink to wash out tomorrow.

Wolfey looks down at Ani and notices a strange look on the babe’s face, thinking Wolfey realized he forgot one important thing. "I'm so sorry Ani I almost forgot to burp you!" He holds Ani to his chest, the little ones head over his shoulder, and gently starts patting the boys back. Wolfey carried Ani to the bedroom while the babe makes a few belching noises. As that is going on Wolfey feels his shoulder getting a bit damp, he knows that's too high to be peepee he hoped anyway. Wolfey after checking the boy's diaper and finding it dry, lays the now yawning Ani on his bed and takes his own shirt off to see why it got wet.

All Wolfey sees is a damp spot on the shoulder. It didn’t have a color it was just wet, Wolfey then holds it to his nose. He chuckles, You idiot its milk, spit-up! I forgot to put a towel over my shoulder." He looks over at Ani, the boy looking back at him through half closed eyes, Wolfey just smiles at the worn out boy. "Poor little guy you've had a busy day huh?"

He throws his shirt in the hamper then goes out to the main room, returning with Ani's night shirt. He takes the boys shirt and shorts off, then slips the other shirt on him. Ani grabs Wolfey's nose like he did earlier then just smiles and closes his eyes. Wolfey quickly and quietly hangs his kilt up and puts his boxers on. Wolfey climbs into the bed trying not to disturb the now sleeping Aniwaya. He slides the boys head onto his chest and puts his arms around him loosely. The new father smiles at his boy and leans down kissing him between his ears, then the new father and new son slip off into their dreams.

Autumn; 3rd month, 12th day

Today was a very good day with an even better ending! It began like most days my alarm clock, Ani crawling on me tryin to pry open my eyelids, went off too early again. When I saw what a beautiful morning it was I decided it would be a perfect day for a trip to the park. After breakfast we got dressed, packed up some snacks and baby supplies then we were on our way!

At first we just sat playing with his favorite toy a red rubber ball. rolling it back and forth to each other until Ani got distracted by a group of people who walked by us. He took off (man that boy can crawl fast!) after them I started to chase and he runs right into this lady's leg. I was so embarrassed and worried he hurt himself and then it happened, he spoke! My boy said his first word "BOOM!" yes I know not that impressive of a word but he spoke!! I was so proud, this being a dad thing was just getting better.

Well I spoke to the woman, making sure she wasn't hurt, and her children then I invited them over to our blanket for snacks. Her name was Phantom and she had a lot of kids most of them went off to play but one baby Ani was going crazy over. This other baby, Asha turned out to be his name, seemed to be doing the same over Ani. They babbled and played and got to know each other while Phantom and I talked. She turned out to be a very nice woman but she had a lot on her mind, and I listened she was apologetic for sharing her problems. I assured her there was no need to be sorry and that I was glad that I could be of any help.

I found out why Ani and Asha got on so well, as concidence would have it Asha was a Tenjutsu from Rune's adopttion center! So most likely Ani and Asha had met there, I was so happy for Ani as well as relieved to see him being so good around new people.

We had ben there awhile and I saw Ani was ready for his nap, so I gave Phantom my address and left an open invitation to stop over anytime. She took it and thanked me. Ani did the cutest thing he reached up for Phantom and she picked him up and he did his cover your nose move! I explained how special and what that meant she thought it was very sweet.

As we left Ani spoke one more time he said "Bi Bi Asa! Bi Bi Fanthum!"

He has been napping for a few hours now, has allowed me some time to work on those sketches for the Vanderbiller's mural. Tomorrow I will try to teach his some other words... I guess he just needed a reason to speak.

Autumn; 3rd Month, 25th Day

Well I have been working on Ani's vocabulary. All I have to say is wow, he picks up words pretty quick! I mean I could tell he was a very intelligent baby from the start but to see him actually learning... he is very much impressing his old man. He can now say his own name and "Da-uh uffly" but he mostly sticks to Da-uh, "me", "pway", "bwal", "pwety", "hungie", "hwlp", "ladie", 'mwan", and "ootside". I think thats all, hes learning so fast hard to keep up.

I finished those sketches for the Vanderbillers, I'm going to try to get them over there sometime next week. Then I will need to get working on painting the mural, of course I need to find someone to babysit Ani a few hours a day for the week. Maybe the lady across the street, shes nice but I think our tails kinda freak her out. I need to get back over to the center, I'd like Ani to meet more of the other babies. I could ask Rune but I don't know, she has so many kids... but its not like shes alone and she is so open and caring and understanding. It wouldn't hurt to ask I don't think it would anyway.

Some strange things have been happening, I hope I'm not losing it! Well the red ball we play with, now I'm sure every night before we go to bed I put his ball in the baby supply bad. So I go to bed positive that I put it away, then in the morning its always in the bed with us! I know good and well Ani can't get down from the bed, crawl to the other room, unzip the bag, crawl back in here with the ball and get back on the bed! He isn't old enough to do that, when I ask him about it he gets this look then just giggles! I think I need to ask Rune, I believe she did mention about the children developing powers...

I almost forgot! I got Ani two cute plushies today, I'm going to see if he likes them. will be back tomorrow to report.

Aniwaya's Quest!

My my, how Ani has been growing! He has made wonderful friends, learned words, and even exhibited some of his powers! Now it's time for this sweet little wolf to go out into the world.

The Quest:

Ani and "Daddy" must go to some sort of outdoor street fair, convention or carnival. Play some games, listen to some music, bring back a flyer or something to show he was there. Be warned - not everyone in Gaia is as accepting as the rest of us.

As Rune suggested, on a pleasently warm day Wolfey and his lil Aniwaya went to Durem for a food festival. It was said in the announcment that there would be some games to play, wares to buy and tons of foods from all over Gaia to taste. They had taken a cab to Durem because it was no short walk to Durem from the edge of Barton!

Wolfey was carrying Ani in the baby backpack, with the supply bag over his right shoulder. It wasn't very hard for the pair to find the food festival, they just followed their noses! Wolfey rounded the corner of a building to find himself standing at the end of a very busy street, Ani eyes got wide then grinned and clapped his hands in excitement.

It was a long street, maybe half a mile from where he was standing to where it ended in a cul-de-sac. Both sides of the street were lined shops. They all looked basically the same in size and shape with evenly spaced allies between each building. The shop fronts were all very different from each other to attract attention to what they were selling. Some had brightly colored paint jobs, others had fancy windows that showed off their wares. The view continued in this way until one reached the cul-de-sac, for one there was a huge four tiered fountain right in the middle of the street. There there were the shops on the circle themselves, extravagantly large and very over-decorated. Obviously those shops were owned by the already very wealthy.

Wolfey makes his way down the road stopping every once and awhile to admire the wares of the various shops and stalls that lined the way. One shop in peticular caught his eye, it was a armor shop. There weren't many items being displayed on the table in front of the shop but what Wolfey saw looked to be very very well made. He had leared much about armour from his father attending the bellows at the forge for all those years. He didn't see the shop owner, he started to wonder who had done such sturdy work, a voice then took him away from his thoughts.

"Da-uh mes 'ungy!" Wolfey reaches back to pet Ani's head, as his own stomach voiced its opinion on the matter. "Yes Ani, I'm getting hungry to! Lets go eat then we can stop back by here later."

The closer they got to the cul-de-sac the stronger the smell of the cooking, baking, roasting food became which made both of their bellies growl excessivly. As they walked by more people Wolfey felt the eyes on him and Ani trying his best to ignore it. Ani saw the people looking at them to then when he tried to make eye contact they would either look away or at the ground and walk by. Ani even looked at the ground a few times but he didn't see anything interesting. He looked up and saw a boy a few years older than him, Ani smiled an waved to him, when the other boy started to wave back his mother did something Ani thought was very strange. She slapped his hand down and dragged him away Ani decided he'd ask Da-uh about that later.

The whole circle was lined with hundreds of booths frying, grilling, baking, roasting, stewing, and boiling every kind of food imaginable! There were displays of exotic fruits and vegetables from very distant lands. Ani tugged Wolfey's ear at pointed at one of the stalls they were grilling some sausages and green peppers and onion, their first stop Wolfey guessed with a chuckle at his boy's excitment.

After making their circuit of all the shops Wolfey, with a rather large sized tray in his arms, made his way over to the tables. They were long tables with benches on either side. When Wolfey sat at one some people got up and sat else where the ones who stayed scooted as far away from Wolfey and Ani as they could whispering to each other. Wolfey ignored them and sat Ani down on the table, he looked over the food vegetables being the most logical place to start. Wolfey picks up a plate with some cooked carrots on it and mushed them up with a spoon. "Ani these are carrots just try them if you don't like them you don't have to finish them." Ani nodded then sniffed at the spoon then opens and closes his mouth on the spoon. Wolfey watched Ani's expression as the boy tasted the carrots, he chewed on some celery with blue cheese dip on it. Ani's expression was thoughtful as he chewed then swollowed the carrots, he smacked his lips. "Me no likey Da-uh, ucky!" Wolfey chuckled and gave Ani a sip of grape juice to get the taste out of the boys mouth.

As their taste testing went on Wolfey found out more about Ani's tastes. His son liked cherry tomatoes cut in half with blue cheese dip on it, he liked the fresh grape juice he was drinking, and he very much liked the sausage with the green peppers. Wolfey had cut some the sausage into kid bite size pieces and chewed some green peppers up so Ani would have easier time with them since he still didn't have all of his teeth yet. "Chew that up really good now Ani use your teeth I don't want you choking!" Ani chewed it up real good then burped. "MMMM! Da-uh dat yummy!" Ani drank some more juice then his ears twitched, Wolfey saw this and knew Ani had heard the whisper too.

Ani asked in a whisper only kids can do where they make a whispery voice but say what they were saying really loudly so that everyone in a few mile radius can hear. "Da-uh what de-mon? Dem ladies at end table says we dat. Why dey say dat?" His eyes confused. Wolfey smiled sadly at the boy then kissed his head. "I'll tell you in little while but I think its time we go son." He picked Ani up and set him back in the baby backpack, slipped the supply bag back on his shoulder. He stood making sure to grab Ani's unfinished juice. Wolfey walked the length of the table stopping by the ladies where the whispers had come from, he bent down slightly and whispers. "One, me and my son aren't demons and two these pretty ears of ours aren't just for show the work pretty damn well! Enjoy your evening ladies." He smiled pleasently then turn on his heal and walked away.

Ani wasn't clear on what had just happened he just knew his Da-uh was mad. Ani stayed quiet in the baby carrier holding onto Da-uh's shoulders, Ani knew he would try to tell Ani what happened after Wolfey calmed down. Wolfey made to most of the way back up the road where they had started their trip he stopped there. He reached back and picked up his boy Wolfey sat down on the sidewalk edge with Ani right beside him. "I guess you are wondering what happened back there. First off a demon is well... its a monster of sorts..."

Ani giggled a bit. "Da-uh we no mansters! Are we?" He looked a bit shocked. "No, Ani we are not monsters. Don't ever think that. Lets see... I know you are always looking around do you remember seeing anyone with ears or tails like us? Did you see anyone like your friends from Rune's place, with wings or pointy ears or fangs?"He sat and watched as Ani screwed up his face thinking, after a few moments shook his no. "Me didn't see no one like that Da-uh."

"Ani, you and I and your friends at the center we are... well we are different from most people, in Barton there are quite a few people who are different like us but in the rest of the world we are rare. Now sometimes when people see something they think as different it worries them, even to the point they hate the different people or thing without even knowing what it is. Those ladies thought we were bad just because we have animal tails. When you grow up if you become a wanderer like me you will meet many people and some of them will be like those ladies. Ani never let people with closed minds like that bother you just forget about them." Wolfey ruffled Ani's head and hugged him then looked up noticing he had stopped to have their talk in front of the armor shop.

"Didn't mean to be evesdropping but did them high faluttin snobby scoundrels be givin you any trouble?" A large older man stepped out of the doorway of the armor shop. He appeared to be in his late 60s, but his muscular build would make you think he was much younger. The build of his body let Wolfey know this man was the one responsible for making this wonderful armor on display. "Oh I'm sorry if we bother you f..." But the man cut him off with a wave of his hand. "Looky here son, the curb belongs to everyone, so I don't be needing no sorrys. Well hello there young sir." He gave a nod to Ani who in return gave him a huge grin. "Hi hi me Ani who you?"
