Alright, I know I recently put up something asking for help, but I've got another problem that's come up. I have a friend, and we have been tight for years, we had decided that we were twins that were separated at birth. We got along so great and everything. Then Twilight came along and she started to fall apart on me. She's majorly anti-Twilight. So I tried to talk to her about something and she freaked out on me and wasn't talking to me. I went to my dA page to try and see if I can patch things up, and I saw a post she had put. Quote: So...my day has gone down the pipes as it progressed. This morning I was pretty happy. I got to the bio final and was still happy. The bio final seemed ridiculously easy, so either I passed with flying colors or I bombed it so failtastically-epically that I'm just retarded. Either way, then lunch was good. Dunno when after that, but I just kind of lost the happy. Then I saw a video on YouTube courtesy of Echo about the mormon religion. Now I can understand anti-religious people. That religion is SO screwed up. And yeah, I've got at least one mormon friend that I can think of, but you know what, we're not even talking. So I really don't care. As for any other watchers who are mormon, I'm very sorry if my view of your religion is offensive, feel free to ignore this. smile I think, the thing that struck me most was their view of the "black" people. The video, which was basically just neutral information, was describing parting of Lucifer from "heaven". They claim that the "angels" that remained neutral in the "disagreement" ended up as black people, as punishment. Seriously? WHAT THE HE11. How racist is that?! Black people are PEOPLE. Just because they're dark-skinned doesn't mean they're being punished. What about the people that tan into being that dark, eh? What about those of mixed blood, who are neither black nor white? And then I hear from Katie that the mormons are trying to change it so that black people AREN'T bad. Um.... if you're changing your religion, then it wasn't right in the first place. Why would anyone believe you now? If you've been "lying" this whole time, you don't exactly have the best track record, eh? FAIL. Then there's the thing with Jesus and Lucifer being brothers. No. Just no. but I suppose in their religion that's "right". BUT, since Jesus was sent to save the people, and was born a child, this doesn't work. When a child is born in the celestial kingdom, it's sent down to earth that way. But by the time Jesus came around, in the celestial kingdom he was rather older than a baby. So...I'm not getting that part. How can the grown guy go down all those years later when he isn't in babe form? Just not working, SORRY TO DISPROVE YOUR RELIGION. And you know what? In the celestial kingdom a guy has, like, millions of wives. So, why is it immoral to have more than one wife here? This religion....grr. It pisses me off. This religion fails. Utter failure. What do I do? Do I keep trying to patch up this friendship that everything I do and believe in is utter fail to her? Do I try to explain things to her? And how would I do that, when I get nervous whenever the topic of religion is brought up? This hurts a lot. I have to fight back tears every time I see something from her. Or do I just give up and stop receiving stuff from her?

What video was this? I don't remember that view of black people. The way I remember is they're all descendants of Cain and were punished for what he did. And yes, black people were finally able to receive the priesthood, but just because they didn't have it doesn't make them bad. And I don't think there was any age to speak of in the preexistence, because we weren't all just babies while that war was fought. And a million wives in the celestial kingdom? O.o; Where is that talked about in the Book of Mormon. Maybe she should have been given one of those instead of this video...

if she really wanted to remain friends she would not put religion infront of your friendship. my best friend/twin isn't mormon and we still get along great, but then again we're guys so it might be a little different from your relationship. if you still want to be good friends with her then dont stop trying to patch things up.

What the freakin' heck? Okay, I know some pretty obscure things about our beliefs courtesy of all my older scholarly siblings *diez from overload* and I've never heard that being said by anyone! Tell her, concerning that vid, that it was either A) False information and/or someone confused us with part Muslim and some other nutty people, B) someone who went over the top with their studies (I've heard lots of theories that are off the wall that were presented as fact and is not at all) and came up with something totally wrong, or C) 100% anti-LDS stuff that's made on purpose to make us bad. If she asks about blacks not having the priesthood until the 1950's, tell her this: Originally the priesthood was only given to those in a certain blood decent. Then it was given to Abraham through Melchizedek. Then Abraham to Issac, then Jacob and Esau. Jacob gave it to his sons, but the majority of them lost the privilege until Moses' time where he got it from a descendant of Esau who was his father-in-law Jethro. Then it was (this is linear, mind you) given only to those in the Tribe of Levi. Until Christ came and reset the church again, no one else had the priesthood authority since all those not Jew was considered Gentile/unworthy. Other nations lost it due to perversion and sin, according to the records we have. Christ restored it and gave it to the twelve who gave it to those few they put back in it later. During the apostacy, the priesthood was lost again. Then we know the story of Joseph Smith restoring the priesthood once again. Now, considering that the priesthood at one point was reserved to a single bloodline for the longest time and that Christ made it so that all those worthy men could hold it and then they lost it, I think we've made a lot of progress. As for why the blacks were denied holding it (not the blessings of it) until recent years is completely about timing. Mentalities were not ready for those of another race to have the same authority as they did until then. Think about it. The civil liberties movement didn't start until that time frame so really we were probably one of the few churches who broke segregation completely (did we ever have segregated wards in the south? curious now). Also, think about it. Having the priesthood is a pretty hefty calling. I'm glad I don't have it. Being descendants of Cain I think is kinda an excuse but being the descendants of Cain was what got them the original hatred against them to begin with. SO getting that cleared up makes everything much easier. Remember, as a church we have to agree for the new policies to work and even to confirm new priesthood holders(raising the hands). If everyone was against it, nothing would get done. I've never heard of a neutral party in the councils of heaven. If there was, well then they'd be counted with Lucifer and not have bodies. This was a do or die kind of situation, no middle ground. Those that are black and have to face those trials, that's their trials. Same with us white folk who keep burning every time we object to some hot tempered anything (no joke, I think we're the people getting beaten up now).
You know what, if you need help talking to her on DA, come to me. I'm there too, same name. Whoever this Echo is, I wanna smack her and tell her to shut her trap. I don't poke or maim her faith, leave mine alone. My ancestors worked hard for this and I for one won't let some over the top scholar miss quote things or some anti guy with a grudge against some small instance screw up someone else's views this easily. So what if she doesn't like twilight. it's just a book! There's just as many LDS people who don't care for it *raises hand* as those that like it. Same with non-LDS. So she hates one author, introduce her to Brandon Sanderson. BYU professor who played D&D too much. Remind her she's throwing a fit over a youtube vid. you wanna know how many vids out there are just idiot with a camera and computer? The Vid is horrific, not the faith.
Sorry for the rant. I just wanna smack some sense into this girl now. Quote if you want or ignore. But seriously, i think this girl really needs to hear things from a true source rather than some stupid vid.

It's okay, Glimare. I wanted to rant when I first read that. But thanks for the info.
Honestly, I really miss the friend she once was, but I don't know if I want to try and keep things going. After all, I'm really stressed out taking care of the house and my family while my parents are on vacation, not to mention peer pressure concerning guys, and I don't know if I want to add on the stress of trying to maintain a shaky friendship in which I receive several mental and emotional beatings a week. I mean, no matter what I do, she never seems happy and is always complaining. And I can't be in an atmosphere like that because it makes me upset and sick. Should I just leave her a note telling her I like the friendship, but I'm going to give her her space? I don't know what to say to her, but I get the feeling I'm going to have to confront her sooner or later.
Edit:: Eh, I think that answer was just given to me. Shortly after I posted this, I got the feeling that everything will be alright, no matter what. She updated her status and it's pretty harsh, saying, "Gee, if I was a sister I think you'd try to show it. But whatev. I'm not sure I could handle someone whose religion tells them to be racist.", but I don't really care anymore. I'm still willing to be her friend but now it's all up to her. I left her a status message saying I'd be happy to tell her more about it and let her know the truth, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see if she replies. Thank you so much, guys.
