This is a basic break down concerning the creation of the main species in Idril.
Navnlos (created) – Valencis, God of Darkness, created the Navnlos from the darkest shadows and from the blood of his heart. They were given no name as a people, because the Dark God had not thought to give them one. They named themselves “Navnlos” from the language of the gods . It meant “unnamed”.
Dragons (created) – Agnion, God of Ancients, created the Dragons and was known forever afterward as the Dragon God. He named them “dragons” after the beautiful reptilian creatures Voleg had made for their world. Voleg’s creations, “draks ”, were small, yet fierce, lizards with wings. Agnion admired their grace and ferocity and based his beings’ beast forms off of the little draks.
Humans (created) – Kelonius, God of Strength, molded Humans from the cold northern sea waters and the soft bronze sand from the beach. He wished for the Humans to be a modest species in order to bring balance to the world. Although Humans were not powerful their spirits seemed unconquerable.
Vampires (created) – Helshive, the Blood God, formed the first Vampires from his blood and his early Underworld powers. He created the Vampires in order to establish a medium between Valencis’s Navnlos and Kelonieus’s Humans.
Dranocyn (evolved) – As Dragons changed over time, there were occasional births of Dragons that could not take their beast form. They were born of Dragon blood and resembled them in every way, but they lacked the ability to change. These defects came to be known as “Dranocyn”. The Dranocyn populated only among their unique kind and eventually, no more Dranocyn were born of Dragons.
Demons (created) – Baereln created Demons from the fires of the Underworld and the volcanic dust of the earth. The first Demons were Human in appearance, like many of the beings on Idril, with slight differences. Some Demons had horns like goats, others like those found on oxen. Other Demons had wings, tails, and ears resembling those from various beasts. As time went by, Demons of lesser bloodlines were the only ones with tell tale Demonic traits, while Demons of more noble blood only sported their unusual characteristic when they exerted their powers.
Werewolves (created) – Mythanilos admired the grace and beauty of the wolves created by Voleg. So he combined the ideas of Helshive and Agnion and formed creatures called Werewolves. As Agnion had admired the draks, Mythanilos admired the wolves and wished to base his beings off of them. And just as Helshive had pooled the forms of Humans and Navnlos together, Mythanilos combined the forms of wolves and Humans. The Werewolves had two forms, just as the Dragons did. One form was humanoid while the other was a beast form. Werewolves were able to change into their beast form at will but often stayed in their simpler forms.
Melusine Snakes (created) – Cirel, Goddess of the Earth, shaped the Melusine with fine white clay, fitting them with precious stones to add to their beauty. She breathed life into them and they came to life as large, beautiful snakes. The Snakes shed their jewel-like scaled skin and took Human forms. There is only a small tribe of Melusine Snakes deep within the forest of Atrumalus. Any Snakes that leave the forest to pursue different lives are referred to as outcasts. The outcasts took up the name Vouivre.
Angels (created) – Talithea, Goddess of Light, brought the Angels into being by combining the rays of the sun and the beams of the moon. The Great War was coming to a climax and the world needed soldiers of light to combat against those of the darknes and prevent the world from falling into ruin. As a last defense, Talithea brought the Angels into being. Sending the warrior beings to Idril to do battle against the dark army, the Goddess of Light unwittingly created beings with power so devastating they could rival the gods. While Angels lacked the ability to create, they harnessed the ability to destroy. When the gods came to realize what the young goddess had done, they banished the Angels from the heavens and sentenced them to live on Idril. However, seeing the potential for celestial messengers, the gods urged Talithea to create more Angels; however these new Angels were told nothing of their destructive capabilities and were raised to meekly serve the gods.
Devils (evolved) – The Three Gods of the Underworld were the first to discover the Devil mutation. Upon occasion, Angels would awaken into their original destructive powers and be banished from the heavens. When Angels were banished they came to Idril, stripped of their Angelic wings and powers. Interested in the fallen Angels, the Underworld gods invited them to be their servants instead. By accepting the Underworld power, the Angels would undergo a painful transformation that would re-write their Angelic blood into incorporating not only Light magick, but Underworld magick. They would grow new wings similar to those they had as an Angel, but black instead of white. They would also grow horns akin to those that high born Demons have; the difference being the Devils would have two pairs of horns instead of the usual one pair. As Devils, they would be more powerful than they were as Angels but they were bound to serve whichever Underworld god had recruited them. Their power would be second only to a god.
Governing Spirits (evolved) – Shortly after the world was formed, magick flowed through the earth unchecked. The potency of the magick gave rise to many elemental spirits, including those of earth, wind, fire, and water. Spirits of the earth inhabited such things as plants and animals. Spirits of the wind manifested in natural occurrences like whirlwinds and storms. Spirits of fire formed in places of great heat and energy, including normal flames, deserts, and volcanoes. Spirits of water were born into any body of water and occasionally shared the space of wind spirits in storms.
Seasons (created) – When the world had no order of seasons, the gods chose four spirits of the earth in which to bestow the power of seasons. The spirits became the season that they would govern and would each take turns during the year to take care of their season before passing the power on to the next season in the cycle.
Minor Spirits (evolved) - As the world continued to change, so did the many spirits that inhabited the nature of the land. Lesser spirits grew apart from the governing spirits. Creatures such as golems, djinn, elves (not like Santa's elves; think more Tolkien), nixies, dryads, pixies, rusulka, fairies, and many others came into being over a period of time. While they did not have the power that their ancestral governing spirits possessed they still held some minor control over their elemental association.
