Name: Ceanandin (see-NAN-din)
Age: 18 turns.
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Actively heterosexual.
Craft: Glass-smith
Rank: Apprentice
Physical Description: Tall and thin, but toned from an active life on Boll's beaches. Naturally tanned skin is further darkened from his time in both Boll and Ista, where his hair, alternately, has been lightened and sunbleached. His hair is generally windblown and reaches to about his jawline, but will occasionally be pulled back into a stubby ponytail if a more respectable appearance is necessary. Eyes are dark, dark green.
Personality: A quiet, sensible boy, he often comes across as reserved, but is simply 'old for his age'. Easygoing and fair-minded, he tends to be the voice of reason among his peers, not given to pranks and games. He has an obsessive streak that often leaves him utterly focused on a single subject for days at a time, which aided him well in the Glasscraft and will hopefully prove a similar advantage in the Weyr. He grows uneasy in loud, crowded situations--and is not at all pleased with the current overcrowding of the Candidate barracks, but is willing to endure the discomfort in the hopes of making Impression.
History: Born as the result of a rather fortuitous Gather encounter between a Benden rider and a holder girl, Ceanandin was seen as both a blessing and a curse to his mother's family, holders near the tip of Southern Boll. Dragonrider blood was to be prized, of course, but limited the girl's usefulness in marrying into another successful hold in the area. Some turns after his birth, the girl, Falla, was married away, and she and her son left to the smallish neighboring hold. Their lives were happy enough with her new husband--he was a kind and generous man, and cared well for both wife and illegitimate son. But Falla had high hopes for her boy, and often whispered to him of the handsome Brownrider who was his true father, and who would undoubtedly come and fetch him on Search once he was of age.
Turns passed with no hint of interest from the rider or Weyr, however, and Ceanandin was eventually apprenticed into the Smithcrafthall, where he was sent to specialize in the Glasscraft, already familiar with Southern Boll and its fine sands. He served in the crafthall for approximately three turns when, nearing his Journeyman ranking, he was Searched by Fort Weyr. Remembering his mother's high hopes, he took up the offer and stood on the sands, but failed to Impress at his first Hatching. When word came of a clutch at Ista, he was among those who sought to transfer--both for the change to a climate he was more familiar with and the opportunity for another stand, and another change at Impression.
Pets: None
Other/Talents: Ceanandin was apprenticed to the Glasscraft long enough to attain some measure of skill in the craft; he has very deft hands, well schooled from his work (if frequently silvered with old burns), and often occupies them by carving. He has some ability with a wood recorder (not of his make) and reed pipes, but cannot sing a note, and has very little interest in music otherwise.
