This pleasant late spring morning, the new resident of the udon-ya is not cultivating her paleness inside; rather, she is outside. Today she is wearing a very odd combination of her own Imperial clothing, a striped Gaian-style shirt almost big enough to be a nightgown on her, and a wide-brimmed straw hat with a rather inappropriate plump pink bow on the brim. Even more curiously, she is not in the yard of the udon-ya but that of a house on the other side of the street, where she sits on one large cardboard box, picking out glass instruments out of another one opened in front of her.
This one is cracked, too... she notes with a sigh.

Hitsuga approaches the udon-ya, his footfall silent on the unkempt grass. Outwardly, he doesn't show it, but inwardly, he is exhausted. After finishing his project, he had lain down with the intentions of sleeping, but by the time his mind had quieted itself enough for him to rest, the sun was already cresting the horizon.
...and by then, what would have been the point?
In one hand he holds a small white box, while the other gives a knock at the door of Setsushi's home, hoping Rika may be in. When a moment has passed with no answer, his brow furrows a bit and he knocks again, only to be met with similar nothing.
Perhaps Rika and Setsushi are still resting. The thought makes him wince a bit, hoping he didn't wake them, if that was the case. He steps away from the door, now suddenly fearful it WOULD open.
It was no matter, he could just come back later...

Replacing that flask in the box, Rika sighs, reaches for the next item to inspect... then... finds herself caught in a great yawn. She is kind of tired, she thinks to herself as she takes a moment to stretch out her arms, flex her fingers and-- almost fall off the box she sits on because she was leaning too far back.
With a mental and verbal yelp, she rights herself, the little hiccup of panic passing quickly. ... She then pauses and looks around, as if to see if anyone caught that embarrassing little display, and as she does so notices a tall and dark-haired Porcelain man in the direction of the udon-ya.
"Hitsuga?" she calls. Except it isn't so much of a question as almost an exclamation, as if there is an implicit command to join her.

The sound of his name makes him jump and wheel around in the direction of its source like an animal hunted. He does not, at first, recognize the woman on the other side of the road as she is partially hidden beneath the brim of the hat she wears and the garment that threatens to swallow her.
A second take, however, makes him blink several times, recognition dawning. Rika...? That---yes, that was she, he was fairly sure. He moves across the street to obey the implied command, warm projections of greeting reaching her as he draws within range to deliver them.
He hopes the morning finds Lady Rika well. And that he isn't interrupting anything. sweatdrop

No, no. "In fact, your arrival is well-timed." Rika clambers off the box, wiping her hands on her(?) shirt while bobbing her head to Hitsuga in very brief greeting.
"How are you -- have you been doing well?" She looks him over, then asks, in particular, if he's been eating and sleeping well?

He has.....been doing the best he's able, he allows with a smile. He feels better, though. The tea she'd sent him home with last they'd spoken has proven most valuable the last few days.
And herself? How has Lady Rika been faring?

"There is more of it, if you need some," Rika offers, though she doesn't insist.
"I have been doing passably. It is hard to relax around so many people, though," she says, putting on a slightly unhappy-looking smile. "... Though I may have dealt with that issue..."
She pauses, looking towards the house, then looks back at Hitsuga. "I understand your present living arrangements are rather cramped, as well?"

He is sorry things have been wearying on her, though assures her that he empathizes on the matter. Madame Phaerna's family has been visiting the last two days to discuss matters concerning her brother's wedding, and the house has been very....lively.
The tone of projection does not suggest that this is something he is particularly happy about.
....he's also answered her question for her in the process, it seems, he realizes with a slight chuckle.

A wedding? Rika seems to perk up, her eyebrows rising -- which in turn impels her to fix her monocle. "Will their wedding be public, I wonder?" she half-muses, half-asks, obviously intrigued.
... Though she sympathizes with him; it must not be easy to be trapped in such a situation, as interesting as it might be to observe from the outside.
"... I wonder if you might like to stay in this area instead? It is usually rather quiet... though there will still be people working on Tenkyuu's roof for a few days..." She rubs her chin, looking across the street at the little house and its temporary scaffolding.

Public...? That, he's not sure of, he's afraid. Though Phaerna had approached him after her parents had gone for the evening to suggest that he was welcome to attend if he'd like.
....that particular matter was still up in the air, however.
At her question, he cocks his head a bit, following her gaze to the house across the way, and then looking back to the one they were currently conversing in front of. His smile becomes a bit wistful.
It would be nice, he confides. And something he would most happily look into if it should happen that they are to be staying here for a prolonged period after all. However, he would first need to procure a job of sorts to be able to afford such a thing.
He was, as of now, unsure of Gaia's need for a perfumer's skills....
.....
Which reminds him....
Taking a step toward her, he presents Rika with the box he carries. It is simple white cardboard, and unlabeled. Clearly it was not chosen for its presentation, but moreso so that its contents would have a safe vessel to travel in.
This is not, he fears, the fragrance she has asked for just yet. He is unable to work with such a delicate blend of scents with his current apparatus, but he hopes she may enjoy it just the same. 3nodding

"The expense may not be as much as you think," she begins, starting to smile -- but he cuts her off with the presentation of the gift. Her eyes again widen as she accepts with both hands; "You already finished something? And I get to receive the first sample of your Gaian work?" She does not feel reserved about expressing her cheerful surprise and gratitude projectionally.
"If you are able to resume work so soon, even under pressure, I would be excited to see what you could do with your own functional laboratory..."

It is only a small something, he's afraid. Hitsuga feels himself flush a bit as her happy feelings tickle at the base of his mind. After nights of putting himself through the emotional wringer, it was very refreshing to feel that he may have contributed something of good to someone's day.
But yes, he goes on. He could think of no one he would rather give his first finished work in this world to. Lady Rika has helped greatly to get him acclimated here. 4laugh
He assures her that, with the proper materials and means, he is capable of much more in the means of spectrum and quantity, though.

Hmm~ "And Gaia certainly has a variety of plant life available..."
She starts to crack the lid of the box to look inside, but stops in the midst of the gesture. "... Why don't we go inside?" she suddenly suggests, jerking her head towards the house. "The building has no electrical power yet, but it will at least be cooler due to the shade..."
She starts towards the door before receiving his answer.

Inside? Well...
He doesn't seem to get a favorable choice in the matter as she starts ahead of him, however. Hitsuga quickly realizes his options are to stay outside and look foolish, or to follow after her.
And so he quickly moves to catch up.

It's rather dark inside; Rika throws the door open wide so that they can see where they are going inside. The interior is rather bare, but there is a long table in the first room where Rika sets the box down.
"... It would be nice if the storefront had more windows..." she muses. Gaians seem to employ large plate-glass windows heavily in their store design. A windowless store might do fine in Toukoku by advertisement and recommendation, but perhaps due to cultural differences...
"... Ah, forgive my rambling," Rika mumurs as she flips the box open to inspect its contents.
