Pokémon:
Name: Beth
Species: Murkrow
Gender: Female
Specialty: scouting, luring wild Pokémons
Personality: oh god. She's a hateful little critter with no affection whatsoever for about anything. Beth, however, can (pretend to?) have a motherly side for anything dumber than her that could not survive without her (in her opinion anyway), as long as it is loyal to her. When she's expressing herself, she tends to say a lot of creepy things, thankfully, she is rather silent most of the time. She can get flashes of sanity where she manages to stay polite and almost decent. Still, she has a few screws loose, and that shows. Also, she loves to do what the Pokédex says about Murkrows: tormenting people, chasing them then have them lose their way, or just making sure misfortune happens wherever she's seen.
She does not like Alessa very much, but she stands her because she's certain the human is dumb and could do whatever she wanted her to do. For now, she obeys her only so Alessa believes she can rely on her, and of course, so that she doesn't get permanently stored in her Pokéball.
She's not that keen on stealing, but her instincts can at any moment get the best of her.
Background: long story short, Beth was caught by Buddy, a rental Sandshrew. Yes, really.
Things are slightly fuzzy afterwards.
And things were fuzzy before as well. She was one of many Pokémon manipulated by Team Rocket for god-knows-what-purposes; because she is a dark type, psychic attacks don't work on her. You can't control a Murkrow with the sheer power of your brain. They had to rely on electric torture and good ol' brainwashing. Enduring the shocks made Beth learn Thunderwave easily, but didn't make her immune to electricity in any way. All she could do was obey mindlessly and watch her own acts without being able to even talk. She doesn't remember if that torture lasted days, weeks or months; perhaps she has even gone through this
all her life (sense of time tends to fade after so long). Basically, she escaped, along with many other more-or-less manipulated Pokémons, from her captors during that Camp Xine event, and by pure chance, landed between our photographer's caring hands.
Alessa was ecstatic to have gotten her very own Pokémon at last! The Murkrow was... less enthusiastic. Being conscious while manipulated indeed damaged her sanity deeply.
Alessa decided to use her to find interesting Pokémons in the wild to take pictures of them. Also, she can now defend herself if there is a problem. The human likes her bird very much, but while she understands she doesn't like her in return, she doesn't know how evil and hateful her companion is.
