The Beautiful school where new shinigami learn the basics of sword play, Kido, and the fundamentals of being a shinigami. As well as learning the laws and obtaining the discipline that is required to serve as a shinigami.

The school works on a class system separating recruits by what year they came in and assigning them a head instructor who will administer their lessons. Their is also a large staff of instructors who will assist in the teaching of each lesson.

~End of Flavor Text~

Ok so this is how it works, your a new shinigami (your bio should be of recent death a short time in soul society ((or a long one if your weird)) and then coming to the academy) THERE ARE NO KENPACHI'S! no auto sword release do to ridiculous riatsu... on that note you wont even start with your Zanpakutou, it will be ceremonially given to you. (at least for the first group) we are going to start when I have 3 people or more ready. Planned date is either Monday or Friday. (ill be gone for the in between) so where before we start I'll post the class' head instructor (everyone will be in one class regardless of when you join us) Now as for graduation, you get to decide when your done. And then you go to the world as a fresh faced shinigami, so the longer you stay here the better you will be when you go out as you may come to find the teacher is a Kido master. Also if you want to get your shikai while here you will talk to me about it first we will both work out your powers (even if your experienced) and I will tell you how your going to get it. I'm being such a pain about it because as soon as you have it I will be assigning your unit. No you aren't picking I will be assigning them. PM ME IF YOU WANT IN DO NOT POST OOC HERE!

Medusa entered the academy with a smile, her white lab coat looked very much like a captains coat so she was getting a lot of proper greetings. Of course being that she was a captain she thought nothing of it. She looked at over the roster of her new students and wondered what they would be like. She had a smile as she entered her empty class room waiting for the first of them to arrive.

Opening the sliding door, a young man that appeared no older than 20 walked in. Dressed in the red (or is it blue of boys) academy hakama. The student was short, standing no taller than 5 feet 2 inches, and the long red hair pulled back in to a low ponytail did nothing for his appearance. On his face was a cross shaped scar on his left cheek, and at his hip was the student training sword. The way the man walked, one could tell that he was accustomed to the weight of it. "Sensei." Bowing politely, Kenshin smiled up at the shinigame captain. "This one hopes that you are not to hard on we students."

She gave him a curious look, the kid looked funny and talked funny. Kids were getting so weird now that she was getting older, she wondered silently to herself if that was a bad thing or not. "Don't worry I wont do anything to Hurt you, and my name is Medusa if you were wondering." She smiled brightly and sounded much like a kind mother. Her voice had the power of her age behind it and the clear knowledge that rang in it said more for her than anyone ever could.

Bowing again Kenshin looked slightly sad. "...like the goddess who's gaze turned all to stone..." Pausing for a moment Kenshin smiled again. "Forgive me. This on is named Himura Kenshin, this one is pleased to meet you Medusa Sensei." It was obvious that Kenshin had a lot of respect, however one could not help but see pain in his eyes, though there was no obvious reason for it. "... if you would sensei... I would like to get started as early as possible. The air is thicker here than in the human world, and I may need time to adjust my sword swing for it, as well as general combat movement." The fact that Kenshin complain about the air could mean that he had died recently from the human world, and had not yet adjusted.

She had to stifle a giggle as the kid used her legend, she in fact was the 'goddess' he spoke of but she didn't need everyone knowing her history. She grabbed a wooden training sword and stepped out into the middle of the open class room. She held it in a one handed hold and with a smile said. "Come then." It was clear that the kid was skilled in the art of the sword so she was wondering if she would have to use kendo or not.

Looking at Medusa for a moment Kenshin smiled kindly before shaking his head. "... This one is sorry Sensei. This one is not good with wooden swords. This one would request that you use your zampakuto against me, though it would like you to keep it sealed away." As Medusa would hopefully comply with his request, Kenshin would slid his right foot forward while crouching down, his right hand resting gently on the hilt of his sword in a perfect stance. His eyes were already scanning his opponent for weaknesses he could exploit.

She shrugged and through the wooden sword aside before drawing her real Zanpakutou. She noted that the kid was carrying an ordinary katana and wondered why he had it, but at the same time wondered just how good this kid could be. "Come when you are ready." She held her sword in her left hand, one handed and in her off hand the kid would have every advantage, and if he couldn't take advantage of it then he had no reason to carry that sword on his side.

For a few more momenta Kenshin would not move before dashing forward with speed that was on the level of at least a third seat, and perhaps a captain. Without pausing Kenshin would draw his sword in a batojutsu strike. With his own speed combined with the speed gained from drawing his sword, the strike that would be aimed at Medusa's right side was on the speed that a captain could swing at. If Medusa was able to block the strike, she would see that the cutting edge of Kenshin's sword was on the wrong side, that the sword he battled with was a Sakabatou.

((You know there is a rule against cross over chars but I wouldn't worry about it, i have more than one lol))

She couldn't block it, but she did dodge it by mere inches switching her sword hands in mid movement as she jumped back and took a kendo stance. She was using her full strength now, as she wasn't a good swordsmen. And this kid clearly had skill before coming here. "Damn, I didn't expect to have the Batosai here..." She had heard his name before, and she knew who she was now facing as she moved forward with a vertical slice. She was faster than him, but not by much however she planned to use this sparing match as more than that, she planed to prove a point.

At the utterance of Batosai Kenshin's eyes looked down with a sad face as she re-sheathed his sword. "Please... do not call this one Batosai... this one is trying to forget that name..." Kenshin's brown eyes looked sad for a moment longer before smiling. "Though Medusa-dono should not worry herself over it." Crouching back down Kenshin gripped his sword again. "... do not worry to much Medusa-dono, I was killed by a shinigame." Again Kenshin would dash at his instructor, this time his movements a little faster than before, as well as a little more fluid, the thrill of combat actually helping him adjust easier.

Again Kenshin would draw his sword in batojutsu, striking with a slightly faster swing that he would follow through with his body, putting more force behind it now that his opponent was fighting seriously. If Medusa was able to dodge this time however, Kenshin would be wide open for a counter.

She didn't have to dodge as she spoke fluidly, "Bakudou #1 Sai!" He would be frozen, even though he likely had the physical strength to break such a spell in an instant she had done it for a reason putting her blade to his neck. "You must learn not to leave such openings in your movements, I realize that spells are a bit unfair, but some enemies will focus on using them, and these enemies are far more dangerous than ordinary swordsmen." She took a step back having made her point, and entered a defensive stance that Kenshin would recognize as one he had used. What he didn't know is that Medusa had studied the same style of Batojutsu he used when she became a shinigami, even though her powers proved that she was not one to wield a blade she loved the dance like movements it created, and found herself far to fascinated by it, to give up the art.

Without falling Kenshin would drop his sword so that it would land point down in the floor, standing on its own. Planting his foot Kenshin would stand up strait and flex his arms out, breaking the spell almost instantly, before Medusa could enter her sword stance. "A defensive style..." Picking up his sword Kenshin held it in his right hand, standing tall with his side facing the woman, his sword tip pointed upwards. "Unfortunately... sword techniques are all I know." Taking one slow step forwards, Kenshin would almost vanish as he got directly in to the woman's face, using his small frame to his advantage, allowing him to get in closer than many liked. Using the momentum from his approach Kenshin would strike down, hitting the woman in the shoulder with his sakabatou, a strike that would of been lethal had the blade been a true sword.

She shifted and rotated back ward moving her left foot and planting her right one the blade would come within inches of her face. Her own sword being pointed at a downward diagonal she quickly turned it in her hand and brought it up at Kenshin's left side, a blow that wouldn't be lethal simply because she had covered the blade in her riatsu to make a blunt edge.
