 HOME! Firepaw danced a bit as she crossed the border, home for the first time since she'd been a pup. It was good to be home, very good indeed. She grinned brightly. Were any of her old friends grown like her? Would she have other Tanners to trade tricks with? Only one way to find out!
The gold-and-red wild dog dashed towards the Father Tree, more exuberant than her father had been. Visibly at least. It was the height of night, so there should be others home!

 Risktaker was stretching himself under the moon, trying to ease the tension in his pent up muscles. Though he had been doing his regular hunts for the pack he still found himself with too much energy. Not the happy kind of energy that fueled his conversations, though that was there, too. It was physical, like he had been sitting for a week and just needed to run around.
Maybe he was just trying to get all of his energy out before his growing family overwhelmed him? It was a silly thought, but he let his mind consider it idly while he stretched his toes individually. He was sitting on his haunches, legs stretched out in front of him. An odd pose for a dog.
Looking up, he noticed something running toward Father Tree, which he was sitting in front of. He didn't recognize her, having been relatively new to the pack before their journey, and being away with them for the length of it. He had returned to the sadness, however, though even that was fading as new life filled the lands. Things were different, but they were happy.
He held his position, tilting his head.

Firepaw stopped herself from running into the wild dog who was sitting there, panting to catch her breath. He looked familiar...oh yes!
"Risktaker!" She'd been younger, the last time she had seen him. And he'd seemed bigger, since she'd been a juvenile (nearly adolescent) when she'd last seen him...before her family had gone to try and find Brightone again. "Shade and sweet water to you!" Once her breath was fully caught, her tail set to wagging. "Last time you saw me, I was but half this size!"

"I remember! But vaguely!"
He laughed jovially, standing and moving closer, circling her to get a good look and a good sniff. He wagged his tail, grinning and keeping it high as he greeted her as if they were family. "It was a while ago, now, and you've changed so much! But it's good to have you back."
He sat down nearby, tilting his head.
"How are you?" He asked, not really thinking of what else to say, though he was generally interested in her anwer.

"It is good to be home." Despite spending a good deal of her life wandering, home had ALWAYS been the Father Tree. She'd never stopped missing it. And it was more beautiful up close than she remembered. She sat down herself, still rather elated.
"I'm well! Father said it was okay to come back home, and I'm the first of the rest of the family to come back! Sundog and Mother shouldn't be too far behind." She chuckled and stretched out one of her back legs, to show off the leather wrapped around it. "I finished learning to be a tanner while we were out there! So if there's any slack that needs picking up...I'm your dog!"

Risktaker nodded. He felt the same way, though he had never really left this place as others had. He had been so new when their trip had started, he felt it unfair to put himself in the same boat as the other returning members. Still, there was no other place on Earth that he felt a stronger connection to than these lands, and the pull of the Way.
Looking up at the Father Tree, he almost let out a howl for no particular reason but to celebrate happy returns, and the sharp reminder he was feeling of his own attachment to his home. He settled for humming a bit, sitting near.
"It's always good to have our brothers and sisters return! The pack is changed, and will continue to change, but I think, even through the sadness of the past, our Now will ever improve. Heck, you'll see it when you get more settled. It's a good home. Always has been, always will be."
He grinned, "always good to meet a good tanner! I'll have to look you up sooner rather than later. I've been looking for a little help with a project. You might just be the dog I need."

"The Now is always changing! Nothing is ever exactly the same as it was a moment ago...and that's what makes life so worth living! To see what the next moment will bring you!" Firepaw had always felt that way, and she was certain she always would. The reasons behind the feeling might change, and the feeling itself evolve and shift...but its core would remain. She perked up more at the thought of being helpful. "Oh? I would certainly love to help out if I can!" Anything for her home and her pack!

"I agree!" Risk laughed, nodding his head. He liked Firepaw's exuberance, wagging his tail and letting his tongue lull out the side of his mouth in a fairly youthful show of entertainment.
"And I'm glad you'll help me out! I want to make a nicer bed for Wisdomchaser. She says the one in the den is fine, but I think if there are pelts not being used for other things, even going to waste, it would be beneficial to the pack to make her new bedding!" He laughed.
He knew the pack was against wasting, and also against hunting in excess. They hunted for food, and the pelts from those kills were often used in dens to help when the nights turned bitterly cold. The pelt in their den was well aged, and while he would not be getting rid of it because of sentimental reasons he thought it might be nice to bring his beloved a new one. Maybe one he even helped with!
Though, he doubted he had any skills as a tanner. It looked a bit complicated as far as he knew, cleaning and readying the hides.
"I mean, Tanners like being able to practice their craft, right? So it would beneficial." He grinned, being cheeky.

Firepaw blinked and nodded. "I do believe I can help you there! There's certain to be some nice kills nowadays, since the pack has grown! And one must have a nice pelt~ Maybe something pretty AND comfortable for our beloved Chieftess!" Sure, the last time she saw Wisdomchaser was back when she was Truthkeeper...but she remembered the kind, bright-hearted wild dog. And how much she'd admired her.

Risk nodded. He loved Wisdom endlessly, and just wanted to dote on her for a little while. She had, after all, borne his puppies for him. It was the very least he could do, really.
"Good then! I'll come find you later, then, when we've hunted. I'll try not to ruin any of the pelts, and we'll see if we can't make something nice for her." He grinned, like a puppy, wagging his tail.
"Thank you for entertaining the idea. I'm pretty excited about this. It's good to have you back, too, even if I am putting you right to work." He laughed, shaking his head.

She simply laughed good-naturedly. "Oh no worries! I don't mind getting right into the thick of things! Life is best lived with everything you've got!" Oh sure, she liked taking it easy now and again...but she never did things in moderation (except eating). She worked hard, played hard, and joined into things with all she had to give.
"I look forward to seeing you later!"

Risktaker smiled and nodded, liking the sound of that philosophy. Living for the Now, at least, was the main goal. He smiled as he moved away. He padded slowly, not in any rush to get anywhere really.
"Alright then, I'll let you alone now! But I'll be baaaack," he hummed, wagging his tail behind him as he want. He cast a look over his shoulder, grinning so broadly most of his teeth were clearly visible. He shook his head, looking as goofy as he could.
And then he was off, excited by his plans and eager to go back to his den and see the lady he loved so much.
