"Well that was just... awkward." Raven sighed, walking along the grass. She'd passed right by the walk and instead had decided to head home the roundabout way, through the forest. It would be a bit longer, but the quiet always seemed to calm down Omi. The foxcoon hadn't even realised that she'd not let go of Sei's hand yet, her interest was more focused on her sister. "You okay?"
Omi nodded softly, not looking up at them and instead keeping her gaze on her own pale toes as they padded against the grass. "Yeah," she mumbled, waving her free hand dismissively. "Fine. Just ducky."
Raven sighed, then looked to Sei and shrugged. She really didn't know much about Omi's relationship with her birth mother, or the sister that Raven didn't even know existed until this point. Well, no, that wasn't entirely true. She DID know about Tiegan, and had seen pictures, but that was where the familiarity ended.

Sei had not seemed to notice that Raven's hand was still in his', either, though for a whole other set of reasons. Maintly that he had not looked down. He... did not know what to say, to be honest - he had no idea he wasn't the only one with so-called.... birth parent troubles. He knew what it was like, somewhat, but he doubted that knowledge would make Omi feel any better.
His gaze met Raven's, and he shook his head. She would talk about if it she felt like she needed to. Trying to force it out of her would only make the situation worse.

Even though nothing had been said, Raven seemed to understand. She nodded to him, squeezing his hand gently, then turned back to pay attention to where they were walking. She knew Omi would be okay... she always was. She just hated that in between stage where there was nothing she could do.
Omi, for her part, wasn't offering anything yet, but did take a moment to break the silence. "Thanks for walking with me."

"It's nothing, really." The blonde was the next to speak, raising his free hand to run it though the long, wavy bangs that had broken free of the ponytail he often wore his hairs in.
"So... it was a son ? He is well ?" Maybe a change of subject would help, and he was indeed genuinely curious.

Omi smiled then, nodding a bit. "He is. He's with his guardian now." It was the hardest thing she'd ever done, letting him go like that, but knew it was the only way he would survive. "I miss him... but I know she'll care for him well."
"You didn't really say much about her..." Raven said, tilting her head a bit to watch her sister as they walked.
"I don't know everything about her," Omi answered, glancing to them both. "But she was drawn to him, the way to-san was drawn to me. They were bonded already."

"I do not think my mother knew much about Zero before handing me to her either, actually." Sei's gaze re-focused on the path ahead. "Zero told me she was much closer to my father, lived next door to him even, but... that's another story completely." The look on his face was near-unreadable, pruposely kept closed off, though thankfully for Omi, the mental emotional shut-down did not follow.
"...I think it does take a very special kind of strength to be able to do that. To hand what just might be the most precious being to you to someone else..." He did not know if he would be able to do it. Alden had been his adopted son, and when the iridae suddenly decided he wanted nothing to do with him anymore.... He had grown, now, to an age matching his own, under Zero's care - and left, not to be heard from again. Had it been his fault ? He would never know for sure.
Thankfully, the odds for him to have other children where... extremely slim.

"I don't think I'm very strong for doing it," Omi said softly. "I wanted to hold him and not let go, ever... but if I'd done that, he would have died there in my arms, eventually. It's just the way it has to be for the Fa'e."
Raven tightened her hold on Sei's hand again, bringing her other to cover his own as she watched him. There was something else going on behind those eyes, but she didn't want to pry. If he wanted her to know... he'd say something.

"But you still did it. Because you knew it was the best for him." Sei continued. "I believe that is strength in itself. To do what needs to be done, in spite of any other factor trying to stop you."
He paused again, for a second, before continuing. "What is his name ?" He had wanted to ask something different - what have you named him ? - but had stopped to reformulate at the last second. Shina had named him - Zero told her such - but he had no idea if it was how things always went.

"She named him Levi," Omi answered, the smile growing just a bit when she mentioned the name. Regardless of how others viewed him, he was her baby, and always would be. "I'm hoping to see him soon. I don't want him to grow up like I did. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I saw my mother... and the only way I know that I met my twin sister before is because to-san had the pictures to prove it. We weren't more than babies then."

"That seems to be an ongoing issue, with fa'e parents." He shakes his head, though his voice is, once again, kept carefully neutral. There was no use in being upset about it. He had Zero, after all. He would never be able to call her mother - but she acted like one, nonetheless. "I am sure you will do well, Omi. I would really like to see him one day, if I could... ?" He was not the best with babies, but he figured the interest would cheer the new mother up, at least.

That made Omi grin. She nodded then, feeling a bit better at least. "I'd like that," she said, then glanced up to the sky. "I'll warn you though, he's a bit different than normal children."
Raven shivered a bit, remembering her first reactions upon seeing the baby, and knowing that she acted badly. Still, she'd been the first one to step up and help Omi with him afterward.... but she still felt horrible.

"That's fine." He answered with a smile. Given what his household looked like on a good day, he had no doubt he could probably handle it. At Raven's reaction, however, his attention goes straight to her in a rather inquisive manner.
"Do you want my jacket... ?" He inquires, apparently thinking that the foxcoon simply was cold, as he had no idea how to tell the temperature.

Raven blinked at him, then grinned and waved a hand. "No, no, I'm okay," she answered, not quite sure where he'd gotten that idea from. "It's nice out today. That's why we were out walking, we were tired of being cooped up with the rain for the past week."
Omi didn't notice the gesture Raven had made, and also didn't understand Sei's reaction, but didn't mention anything of it.
"Besides," Raven said, holding up an arm clad in a sleeve that barely came to her shoulder. "I have fur. I hardly ever get cold."

"Oh. Hm." The blonde did look rather embarrassed that he apparently mistook the situation so badly.
"Yeah, I bet that does help." He smiles at the mention of her fur, then shakes his head. "Sorry about that. I just... can't really tell things like that."

Raven blinked, tilting her head slightly. She looked down at their clasped hands then, her thumb tracing against his skin for a moment. "You do seem cold to the touch," she murmured, looking to him in confusion. "You can't tell that it's warm out?"
