so in my band anyone can try out to be field commander. i'm trying out and i was wondering if anyone had any tips? or if your trying out, why? or better yet, any great stories about your field commander is welocome too! 3nodding

Hm. By field commander, do you mean Drum Major?
If so, the most important thing is to be confident - this is with any leadership position. During tryouts, use a confident voice. Don't let people know if you're nervous. You'll be hiding your nervousness in every performance, so tryouts are good practice xD

In my band, we have a drum major (me) assistant drum major ( my cousin) and field commander ( my BFF)
Drum major = conducting & leading marching & all the good stuff
Asst = makes our football game playlists & conducts 4th quarter
Field Commander = in charge of loading crew for trips
our band camp us 3 r in charge of training the newbs...
so in our band they r 3 different positions...

Jessymuka In my band, we have a drum major (me) assistant drum major ( my cousin) and field commander ( my BFF) Drum major = conducting & leading marching & all the good stuff Asst = makes our football game playlists & conducts 4th quarter Field Commander = in charge of loading crew for trips our band camp us 3 r in charge of training the newbs... so in our band they r 3 different positions... our commanders pretty much do anything,their like staff members. They conduct shows, games parades and pretty much take over the band whenever needed.
