Azure sat without moving on the rock, its rough surface cold to the woman's touch. Her light brown eyes were closed, giving her a peace of serenity she rarely ever acquired. In truth, she did this very little, as she could not bear to sit still for prolonged periods of time. Her breathing was slow and controlled, but she sat very still with a level of poise that had to be a product of years of training.
The rock was next to a large lake, on which only the smallest waves dared to interrupt the billowing stillness of it. The water was a deep blue, so that no matter how hard you looked one could never see the bottom of it. At the far end, a mighty waterfall thundered down, the rumble of toppling water so loud it could be heard for miles in each direction.
Azure loved this place, here she always found the best adventures, be they up a tree or hiding in the bushes. It was a miracle that she'd never found anyone else here before, it was a beautiful spot. Although, that fact didn't bother her too much. She wasn't too sure that she wanted friends.
