Rock field: Tremors rippled forth from center-field as the basic floor shifted to a rock and dirt field, rock towers jutted forth from the ground to offer a place of escape or an attack advantage. The breeze from the stadium air conditioners stirred the loose sand on the field, this creates a mini sandstorm that could possibly blind those who were battling. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ROCK type attacks.

Renekai examined the field. Well, at least she wasn't at a disadvantage... There was only one thing she was sure of: the outcome of this battle was uncertain. If Renekai won, she could finally challenge her rival, Luna. She lifted a slightly quivering pokeball to her lips and whispered, "Please behave, 'Donna..." It was a pointless request; her Gengar was, as they say, bad to the bone. Cringing inwardly, Renekai pressed the button to release her horror.

Dreydonna burst out in a beam of red light, cackling madly. Ah, to be free again! She would be sure that it took her trainer a long time to force her back into her pokeball; she would cause loads of mayhem first and invade a couple of humans' sweet, tasty nightmares before-- aha! Dreydonna's mad laughter escalated. A battle!

Renekai just hoped that Dreydonna wouldn't demolish the almost brand-new gym stadium...

"Haze!" called Renekai. She didn't want to start out the battle with lowered stats! That wouldn't do at all. And, since this was a Gym battle, she couldn't afford any disadvantage.

Dreydonna leaped clear of Midnight's jaws before calling up a thick purple mist, which enveloped the stadium. As the mist cleared, Dreydonna's moment of lowered defense faded as well.

The Gengar looked down after the gym was completely cleared, cackling. Dreydonna stood in the middle of the stadium, floating right above the gaping crevasse. Surely that Houndoom would have a hard time reaching her now!

Renekai gave a half smile. Sometimes it paid off to have a ghost of a pokemon.

Dreydonna momentarily vanished, but she reappeared seconds later. Her mocking grin was gone. She eyed Midnight calculatingly; she could not afford mistakes against such a powerful opponent, she had realized.

"Rock Smash!" Renekai called. That had been a powerful bite, but along with 'Donna's evolution came Fighting moves. Those were super effective on dark types! They would not lose!

Dreydonna floated back to the side of the gaping canyon. She used a strange purple force to break off a chunk of rock before whipping it around and sending it flying, all the way across the hole, at Midnight.

Dreydonna vanished the instant before the teeth touched her; she really didn't want a bite like the last one! She reappeared right behind Midnight and used the opportunity for a Seismic Toss, grabbing the Houndoom's tail, swinging her around once or twice with unexpected strength, and let go.

Dreydonna continued to spin even after she had let go; she was too dizzy to see whether or not her attack had done any damage.

Renekai was both amused and a little annoyed. Dreydonna really should have waited for her command!

Midnight was scratched by the rock as it dove into the sand, cracked and on the brink of shattering. She ran a few feet away from it keeping a firm eye on the hovering ghost type.

Lisa frowned at first as the rock struck her pokemon, but then saw an opportunity. "Use that rock to get a boost and hit that Gengar with Dark Pulse!"

Hearing her trainer's command the Houndoom leaped lightly onto the rock, despite its fragility, then gave a push that shattered the rock as she propelled herself upwards. With a quick howl, Midnight unleashed the dark power she'd built up from the last attack as a purple-black pulse of energy that radiated out from every inch of her fur. The poor stone was, needless to say, pulverized. Oh well, it's not like there weren't more.
