Well, it was better than staying home moping. He... wasn't quite sure. He didn't quite know people. They had been here, what, half a year? More or less that he thought but... but it couldn't be denied that his daughters were making friends a lot more easily than he was. Conall rubbed at an old scar on his chest and sighed; the mark was hardly visible these days but it was aching. He had been sleeping worse too, remembering his sister... He didn't like to be superstitious, he had two young daughters to do that for him, but it all seemed to have started after the news of that meteor going missing.

Conall rubbed the back of his neck uncomfortably and glanced about himself. So. Party time!... Why did everyone seem so young? When had he become so old? He wasn't that old, only thirty three... only. Ha. This lot averaged twenty or less, he guessed. Young adventurers, moved out to this place to find... to find something. A new start, maybe. That had certainly been what he had come looking for. He almost wished he hadn't come, but he'd been told about it by the man who ran the fruit pie stall. He didn't actually know the man's name, but he considered him a sort of a friend. He wasn't here. Conall had checked. Twice. Sipping at a glass of punch that was probably spiked, the red-haired man sighed and looked out over the ocean. At least that was always calming.

Where Red went, he went too. Ceallach was very glad he had tagged along on this particular evening; there was food! His human had given him lots of fruit, and a few bits of nice tender meat too. It was a good distraction from the strange things that had been going on of late. The fire palui sat down and scratched industriously at one ear with a hind foot. Recently... he just hadn't felt quite right. Something had been wrong. He had no idea what it was, but the island didn't feel like itself. Maybe not. Maybe he just didn't feel like himself.

Ceallach never remembered his dreams, but recently he had awoken with the feeling that they had been bad dreams. He was glad he shared his human's sleeping place; Red was a reassuring animal to cuddle up to. But Red did not sleep well either. He tossed and turned and muttered in his sleep. Something was up. As a naturally lazy sort, Ceallach had tried to ignore it but it was impossible really. Something was wrong on the island that needed to be put right. Of course, not knowing exactly what was the matter made it quite hard to fix things. Eh. Typical.

Ceallach finished scratching his ear and looked up at his human. Maybe Red knew what was going on. Humans were pretty smart creatures, after all!

It was rather strange to see a certain purple haired girl mingling with people at a local beach party. Strange, because she wasn't what one would call a social butterfly. Being shy and awkward around others, Piney preferred to stay home and read a book, or watch TV, or play with her Palui. But tonight, after hearing about the news of the missing meteorite, she felt compelled to attend this party, where her mind would hopefully be taken off of it.

Her plan didn't exactly work. The atmosphere, though undoubtly festive, seemed somber in a way and didn't encourage her to talk with any of the strangers. Leaving her with her worrysome thoughts, as if she never left her house.

Still, Piney tried to strike up a conversation with a nearby male around her age, and only got half-hearted chatter. Sighing, she wandered over to a bonfire and sat down on a log after the boy had to go.

"I bet you never went to a party either, didn't you Thoth?" She said to the egyptian Palu next to her. The girl brought him along in case she couldn't make any human friends here, and was glad she did. Not only for his company, but also for the extra warmth he emitted due to him being attuned to Fire.

"Prrr?" was Thoth's response, who was reluctant as well to talk with the other Palui here. He could sense that his human was troubled, and he figured that it was because of the news article she read this morning. About the missing meteor and the bones that were mysteriously stripped clean of their flesh.

Since he was (maybe one of the few Palu) able to read, he too was worried about this enigma. (Especially about the bones. What if whoever did that found him? The thought made him shudder.) And it seemed like there was nothing to do to ease it other than to distract himself. Hence why he joined Piney to the party.

Even if she had no clue what he said, she felt somewhat better. Having a friend in the same boat as you was an uplifting thought. She still wished that the party was more exciting though, because her mind kept of reminding her of the meteorite and going over it like waves pushing around a rock until it was smooth.

"I don't like this Cloud..." muttered the soft voice of a young girl walking alongside the beach. She stopped and looked out towards the endless sea as it climbed its way up to the shore and down to her bare feet as she stood. Her feet against the warm, wet sand of the beach. She had been watching the skies and watching everyone else as they did as they pleased. It was interesting to watch, and she even laughed at some of the things she had seen. But even with everything going on, the festivities, the food, and the games, she couldn't shake the thoughts that had been clouding her mind the past couple of days or so.

She had even had dreams, waking up in the middle of night, shaking and tears running down her face. "Mommy....." she muttered softly as she looked down towards the ocean water as it ran over her feet and then back. The dress she had been wearing fluttered about somewhat with the passing breezes, her long black hair moving along with it.

Next to her was a small black creature with white markings over part of its face, coming up one of it's paws and at the tip of it's tail. The creature looked up at small girl, walking over near her, rubbing his body against her leg. "Palluuuuuu" said the creature as it tried to comfort the small girl, knowing she had been like this the past couple of days. She had not been the only one though, he had been been having his own problems. Nightmares, past scenes playing across his mind from time to time. It wasn't a good sign and he knew it. "Could the meteorite really be the cause of all this?" the Palu thought as he shook his head. He sat down in the sand, next to the young girl before standing up on his hind legs, his front paws against her leg, using her to balance himself. "Paluuuu" he said, trying to get her attention.

The young girl looked down at the male Palu and smiled. "Cloud...." she muttered smiling as she picked the male palui up into her arms. She then looked back towards the place where the beach party was being held. It wasn't too far away, she could see it from where she was, but that didn't change the fact that she had walked away not only from the party, but someone else. She looked down at Cloud and smiled. "I don't think she'll mind...do you? I mean...we only came to see if we could make some friends." she said to Cloud.

The smile left her for a minute, but then returned. "We better head back now...." she muttered and once again looked back at the beach party and the people there. They keep getting worse....I hope I can sleep tonight... she thought and then proceeded to walk back.

Algea peek up from the water to see lots of human and Palui. He shook his head. Lately Algea has been having nightmares, which made it hard from him to sleep and Algea loves his sleep. Algea just stare at all of them. Why where here? Did they her that howling sound that he heard when he got to the caves? He shook his head again. He hated when there are lots of People and palui are around. He just want a good night sleep. Algea knew it had to be these people that been making those noises. It dove him crazy! Look once again to see if knew anyone.....He might as well go ask one of these palui if they knew anything about the wired howling. He jump out of water and began to look around for any wired thing that might be cusing those wired howls.

Isabela let out a long, drawn out sigh, tired from all the rumours going around. She was relatively small, with long brown hair and sincere blue eyes, magnified by thick glasses. Mostly, she was sitting down, watching the wild Palui gather round the more isolated of the fires. There were some other people are her, quietly wallowing in their own sorrow and talking of disasters in the past.

I wonder if anyone else has heard the howling?, Isabela asked herself. It was a dismayed, melodic sound, heard by few because it was somewhere near the cliffs. She lived just above them, and the howling kept her up, and when finally fell asleep she had nightmares, nightmares of dark, kind of alien Palui picking her friends' bones clean, the bone not yet bleached by the sun, bone marrow still smelling disgusting. I have a sick mind, to be able to think that up about Palui..., she thought. She absolutely loved Palui, but never seemed to find the right one to befriend.

Isabela spotted a purple-haired girl sitting in the log next to her, speaking to her Palui, apparently name Thoth. She didn't speak to her, but only observed them interacting with interest. It was always fun to watch humans and Palui interact.

Vaughn stifled a yawn and poked his head through the trees, finally finding the party that was on the beach. Well that doesn't look like a very fun party... He didn't think it would be, but he had still hoped that maybe it could get his mind off of the recent news. He had heard about the meteor disappearing from some other Palui. That alone troubled him, but then he started having those weird dreams. Nightmares so terrible they kept him up at night.

He sighed at the edge of the beach. He wanted to walk over to one of the fires and hear what others thought, but... he didn't really know anyone. He stood, awkwardly, too shy to move forward, and too curious to head back. He just watched the others, wondering what could be going through their minds and wondering what happened with that meteor.

A teenage girl with long black hair and bright green eyes sighed as she sat on a log in front of a bonfire. It had been a while now since she had gotten any decent amount of sleep. Ever since that meteorite showed up and then vanished, she had had nothing but nightmares. Nightmares of painful memories of her past that she didn't want to relive, but was forced to. She had come to the beach party in the hopes of lifting her spirits and making friends, but so far, no luck for either. She wasn't a very outgoing person to begin with, so that just made it more difficult. "I've got a bad feeling about that meteorite.... and I'm sure a lot of other people do too.... Something's definitely wrong, and it needs to be dealt with.... But how exactly?" she thought.

A purple palui with blue tufts on her chest and head and a blue tail looked up at the girl as she layed down by her feet. She knew the girl was upset about the meteorite, and so was she. She had been plagued with nightmares since that meteorite showed up, and it concerned her greatly. "Something about that meteorite is strange if it's giving everyone on the island nightmares.... But what exactly is causing it to do it?" she thought. "Palllluuuu." she said to the girl, nugging her head against the girl's leg.

The girl looked down at the palui and smiled slightly. She could tell that she was worried about something as well, but couldn't pinpoint what. "It'll be okay Melody. I'm sure things'll get solved eventually." she said. She then looked around and sighed. "Great, where did Shira and Cloud go?" she muttered. She then stood up and stretched. "C'mon Melody, let's go look for them." she said, and walked ahead. She walked off towards the beach and saw a young girl with a black palui with white spots on one of its paws, its face and tail. "Shira! Cloud!" she called. She walked up to the duo and sighed. "Shira, I've told you a million times to not go off on your own, haven't I?" she said.

Mis're sat in a bush a little bit farther off from the human's gathering. Her white hair barely covered her eyes that had been ringed with black from the lack of sleep caused by terrible nightmares due to the news of missing meteor that plagued the minds of most of the humans and Palui alike. Giving a sigh, the antlered Palui rested her head against her paw and closed her starry purple eyes. As she closed her eyes, she drifted off to sleep. In her sleep, colors swirled, coming together to form a scene that depicted Mis're outside a cave, looking out into a clearing. In the clearing, there was a large glowing rock. The meteor. What? The meteor was supposed to be missing, but even so it was here in this place. Wait...what was that? Across her line of vision, there were two red glowing orbs. Looking at her. Coming towards her. FLYING THROUGH THE AIR.....!

"AHHHHH-" Mis're sat up straight, cold sweat forming on her brow as her eyes darted all around her. A dream, just a dream. As her heart race she settled back down. No more sleeping until the mystery is found out. She seemed even more exhausted as she thought this. "Why me?" she groaned out to no one but her self as she stood up on all four and looked prepared to solve this perplexity.

Under any normal, or even semi-normal circumstances Anuk would find himself only in the company of his children alongside his mate, Kida, and far from humans; but this was certainly no ordinary circumstance. His usual distrust for anything of human influence or company had been very promptly overridden by the strange foreboding in the air. He'd thought it a good decision to leave his most influenced young in the company of the Earth palui he had raised as a sister for most of his life, rather than to let Ankhit join him on the beach as he trekked to find some answers. Or even a small bit of comfort in this odd company. Of course he had not seen Kida or their sons to let them know where he was headed, but they were certainly anything but weak. It was a small hope that they had managed to not be influenced by the strangeness in the air, or those frightening noises that just barely echoed to their territory at night.

The light of the fires was indeed a welcoming sight when his paws touched the sand, making his way carefully to one not too near any of the large two-legged humans. Surely, someone here would know something. The palui kept in human company had to have some access to the knowledge, right? Or someone there, period? Not knowing was a greater cause of tension than the thought of that meteor vanishing itself, to Anuk. The blue palui really had no care for the strange object until word was passed it had disappeared . Things in the forest just didn't do that, it was frightening, even to a fully grown adult like himself. He couldn't imagine how innocent, defenseless kits would take to such a strange happening.

"Don't you think it's colder than usual? Maybe?" Piney continued to converse with Thoth, oblivious to the stares she was getting. Well, oblivious for a few seconds.

"Of course, you probably wouldn't know, cause you're a Fire Palu and you have those flames on your ears..." She trailed off and glanced to the side, where one brown-haired girl was looking at her. Was it normal for people to talk to their Palu when they're bored, or lonely? She thought so, but maybe things were different in public. Piney let her mouth hang open a little before speaking again.

"Uh, sorry. I just... tend to talk with Thoth when I have nothing to do." She managed to stammer out.

"Mph." He didn't notice the air being cold or anything, but that was because he was right next to a fire and, like she said, he was a Fire Palu.

Climbing up onto the space next to his human, Thoth noticed that along with humans, there were wild Palu roaming about on the beach. Wasn't it dangerous for them? Since they could be captured or something? He watched them walk about, and saw that they seemed a little frazzled as well. Like they were suffering from the nightmares he was getting recently.

If apparently everyone was getting nightmares, then it wasn't just a coincidence. What was causing it then? And why were some of the wild Palu wearing jewelry and stuff? They didn't have humans to help them put it on.

Algea saw two blue palui. One was wearing jewelry, which he LIKE alot. They seem to be wild just like him. He trun his head and wonder if they heard those wired noise too. Then he saw this fire palu that had some type of hat, it was with a human. He stare at all three. Not at all once. He really look at the blue and green one. It look soo lonely. He didn't know if he should go up to any of these palui or not.

He just wanted to find out if they new anything about the wried sound. He walk around , not sure what to do. He was so tired. He saw the fire that the hunam where around and he shook his head. He hates fire. Maybe this was the reson why he didn't go up to none them. Maybe one them would come up to him. He wanted be by the water if anything happen. He just lay on his back and waited...

Fur ruffled with the night air, cooler than normal with the ocean mist lightly twining with the sky above. Or so Powder told herself. Giving a quiver to her small form, the Palu gave a sleepy glance to her surroundings. It hadn't taken long to find the location of the festivities, with the sounds and smells so strong. But....there was no long grass here to hide in. Just open sand highlighted clearly by the full moon. How would she ever approach the large crowd before her? Maybe...maybe she could circle in the other Palui's shadows, cast by the bonfires? Or would that be suspicious to the others..... Maybe the moist line of the waves. Yes, that seemed like the kindest and calmest path.

A howling whispered painfully in the dark night, and Powder whimpered fearfully to herself. Time to move, whichever path didn't matter! Tucking her tails, Powder bolted swiftly towards the crowds. She'd rather by bashful at the moment than alone and frightened. Biting her lip, she made careful to avoid the humans though, not used to their presence. Many a Palui were here tonight, and Powder looked on with wide eyes. So many faces and voices she didn't know! It was enough to overwhelm her and make her nerves jitter even more.

Determined to find some comfort, Powder made her way to one of the less crowded fires, but still near enough to avoid the dark hauntings of the woodlands behind her.

Shira had just started walking back towards the beach party with Cloud beside her when a teenaged girl and a purple palui beside her appeared in the distance. She knew what was coming when she saw her, mentally preparing herself as the girl ran over. Stopping, Cloud jumping out of her arms to the ground.

Cloud had noticed that Shira's gaze had been averted over towards something or someone and looked over in the same direction. As soon as he saw who she was looking at and the fact that she stopped, he stopped beside her. "uh-oh" he thought as he moved behind Shira, looking between her legs over at Melody. "Please don't let her say anything. I watched and made sure she didn't get into kind of trouble...." he thought.

Shira breathed, biting on her lip and flinching as the teenager scolded her. "I-I'm sorry Shion...It's just...I've been thinking a lot. I know you have been too! Ever since that meteorite thing started! I've been having dreams about mom and dad...." she said pausing, her face looking down towards the sand on the beach. "Bad ones...." she muttered lastly as she shook her head, tears running down her face. "I don't believe their gone! What if....What if...." she muttered as her whole body began to shake. She bit her lip, hard, as she wiped the tears from her face. She sniffled a little before finally putting on the best fake smile she could muster. "Shion...can we...play a game or something....?" she muttered, still shaking slightly.

Cloud frowned as he watched Shira. "poor girl..." he thought.

Kida sat quietly near the fire, hoping its warmth would ward off the night's chill that seemed to have settled in her very bones. Ever since the meteor crash, a fell wind blew day and night, and the young mother feared for the safety of her children. She knew the rumours they heard, the dares they set each other to explore the caves nearby. To them it was all a game, the latest adventure. Kida new better, and shuddered at the thought of danger befalling her family. She and Anuk were doing their best to keep an eye on the three youngsters, but they were adept at slipping out of sight, now possibly never to return. A log in the fire cracked loudly, and Kida jumped slightly. Shaken out of her worries, she glanced around briefly and took in the sight of those around her. Even the humans seemed tense, and she wondered if they too were plagued by the nightmares that robbed her and Anuk of sleep.

Almost as if summoned by her thoughts, Kida saw her partner pad out of the darkness and cautiously take place at one of the fires. Some of the tension seeped out of her at the sight of her strength, the rock that grounded her adventurous side and kept her safe. The bangles on her paw jingled faintly as she got up and went over to Anuk. She sat close beside him and gratefully leaned into his warmth.

"So you came too?" she murmured, again staring around at those gathered at the beach. The happy music playing in the background seemed at odds with the mood, but nobody noticed. They were all too wrapped up in their own concerns, humans and Palui alike. "I wonder if we will be able to learn anything of help here, or if we would be better off staying home to watch the kids."
