Lisa sighed as she walked into the dimly lit Stadium dome. She knew that cleaning duties were a necessary part of Stadium maintenance, and that doing at night when the Stadium was closed was the easiest way to do it, but the Stadium at night seemed a lot less friendly. Lisa gulped and stroked the Houndoom beside her. "Come on, Midnight, lets get started so we can get out of here."
Just as they were getting started, the floor began to shake as the area shifted and convulsed into a battle stage.
Electric Field: The field is completely flat; no bumps or hills can be located. Standing at the four corners and at the exact center of the field on each side are six electrical towers that stand at six feet in height. These create a static discharge across the field and in the air itself for one reason: a metal piping that outlines the edges of the field floats several feet above the towers themselves, held up by the discharge. During the battle, the piping can release lightning at random points on the field due to the amount of buildup them possess. This ensures that your pokemon stay moving during throughout the entire battle. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to ELECTRIC type attacks.

"Gah!" Lisa jumped as a bolt of static came whizzing by her. Broom in hand, she rushed to the edge of the stadium, only to turn around and see Midnight jumping to and fro to dodge the electric strikes. "What's going on here?!" Lisa shouted.

A nebulous purple mist began to permeate throughout the stadium all while a faint eerie laughter began to grow louder and louder. From the opposite trainer platform, a shadowy form could be seen flouting around. Yellow eyes stared intently at Lisa and an evil smirk was plastered on the pokemon's face.
Ah yes. He recognized this trainer. It was one of the ones that worked in his trainer's gym. This would indeed be interesting.

Unnerved by the laughter, Lisa instinctively scrambled up onto the safety of the podium, then adjusted her glasses as she watched the field below. "Midnight, get ready for anything, and prepare for battle with Howl!"
Midnight dodged another lightning strike with ease before turning her head up to the podium where the other Pokemon dwelt. the houndoom barked. Hearing her trainer finally give a command, she gave a howl befitting the pokedex description. Midnight herself could do fairly in a creepiness contest.

The laughter stopped for a split second before resuming again. Helium replied.
His yellow eyes glowed even brighter as he commanded haze to set into the arena, canceling out whatever advantage Midnight felt she had gained with her howl.

"Ok, new plan!" Lisa called out, "Let's use the field to our advantage! Paralyze it with Thunder Fang!"
The yellow glow was enough to let midnight see her opponent. She leapt through the haze, losing her attack bonus, but gaining a bit of cover as she herself began to glow. Her teeth crackled with electricity as she bit at the ghost type. Sparks flew across the area as Midnight tried to paralyze her opponent.

Sadly for Midnight, the houndoom only ended up with a mouthful of haze. Helium was an expert at concealing himself and had long fixed the problem of being identified by his yellow gas.
The haunter cackled. Then, before Midnight had a chance to guess an attack was thrown at him, Helium launched a thunderbolt attack from behind the dog pokemon.[900/900]

Midnight yelped as the enhanced thunderbolt hit her. She had no time to focus on the pain, though, as she barely dodged an ambient strike from the stadium. The houndoom quipped.
Well, that worked about as well as a pebble against a wave, Lisa thought to herself. It was time to begin exchanging real blows, though. "Midnight! You can do it! Hit it with Crunch!"
Whirling around, Midnight one again leapt to attack the mysterious ghost, hoping for a big hit this time.

Once again, Midnight bit into nothing and Helium's chuckle echoed throughout the stadium. "Why ever would I be scared of you?" Helium's voice boomed before another thunderbolt came from the side to strike at the houndoom.

This time, the lightning bolt hit Midnight directly on the chest as another one grazed her forehead, giving her some nice little cuts across both areas. She tumbled to the floor before getting up again, still full of energy.
"Keep at it" Lisa called out, "Use Crunch again!" Lisa's mind raced. Should she get help? She wasn't actually here to battle after all...
This was getting tiresome, the houndoom thought bitterly as she launched another attack at a lighter form amongst the darkness.

This time, Midnight managed to barely cut Helium on the side but the shadowy figure once again disappeared into the mist.
"Ah, lucky shot - or shoud I say bite?" Helium spoke, and continued to float around the stadium in random directions. He wasn't always going to keep the pattern of attacking right when he talked. The suspense needed to be built up!
Suddenly, one of the towers struck electricity at Midnight and Helium used this opportunity to send a double dose of thunder at the houndoom's direction.

Midnight expected the first attack, and dodged it perfectly, only to get hit by the second lightning blast. The houndoom was tired of talk, and said nothing.
Lisa cheered on Midnight. In the exhilaration of the hit, she'd forgotten her want to get help. If they could just keep hitting the ghostly form, they might win. "Midnight! Another Crunch attack!" She rallied her pokemon on.
Midnight kept here eyes, and ears, alert for the Ghost type as she zig-zaged around the stadium. A lightning bolt illuminated the stadium and revealed the Haunter's form for just a moment. But, in a fast paced battle, a moment was long enough for an attack.
