It was kind of but not quite a disaster. Kaimi was fully aware of the fact that she was naive. But she had been totally oblivious to the fact that she had really no fashion sense whatsoever. At least, oblivious until Mara had said something about it. Although the tropical girl hardly saw anything wrong with tube-tops and skirts and flip-flops. But between the fact that her little sister dressed much, much cooler than she did and the fact that Kaimi was now desperately in need of something that could be termed bad-a** and awesome, she found herself here at the mall with her mother's credit card.

Clutching the purse that held her newest and most prized posession, Kaimi stared at the storefronts with a sort of mute despair. "s**t." She muttered under her breath. "It's just costume shopping, right?" She added, standing up straighter and taking a deep breath. The mall was NOT going to beat her.

A light hand on her shoulder made the teenager yelp and straighten. Turning, though, she only found her friend Delilah - not a candy-offering, puppy-carrying pervert. Delilah smiled faintly, her usual mysterious little twist of the mouth. She absently adjusted her own dainty purse (robin's egg blue gingham with brown accents) over her shoulder and shifted her weight so that one shapely hip jutted out. Then she tilted her head to one side. "I didn't scare you, did I, Kaimi?" she teased. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"

Her very presence seemed built to remind Kaimi of her mission. In direct opposition to the other girl's flip flops and sarong, Delilah was pulled straight from the magazines - a tiny denim skirt and white leggings paired with ballet flats and a pretty blue button-up shirt. White pearls rested at her throat.

Suddenly, she frowned. "Kaimi," she said, "you look pale."

Giving her friend a wan sort of smile, it trickled out into a whimpery sort of sigh. "Hi Delly, no, you didn't scare me." Her smile came back a little more strongly this time. "It's the stupid mall that scares me." Her eyes roamed jealously over Delilah's perfectly tailored and put together outfit. "You're always so... pretty." She gave another sigh, bigger and far more dramatic than the first. "I'm here to buy clothes." She added in a stage whisper.

Delilah absorbed the words, taking the compliment as her rightful due, and then, patently serious, looked around them with a raised eyebrow. When she turned back to her friend, the eyebrow was still raised. "Is it a secret?" she asked, dead-pan. Then she considered Kaimi's clothing and, if the other girl had been more observant, she could have read dismay in Delilah's pretty features. "I see. Well... Are you on your own then?" She paused, gave Kaimi's wardrobe one more glance-over, and added quickly, "Would you like some help? We could start with something that wouldn't look cute at the beach," she added mildly.

Again with the beach comments. Everyone thought she was nothing but a beach bunny which was all well and good except that Kaimi wasn't actually much of a swimmer. But still, looking down over herself she could definitely see where the impression was coming from. Delilah's offer of assistance made her feel a huge wave of relief. "Yes, please." She said meekly. "I want to be, you know, fashionable and stuff." Her little sister seemed to think this was all but impossible and Kaimi was still afraid she was right. "Theres this, too." She opened up her purse which looked more like a beach bag, she pulled out a box and opened it up to show Delilah the contents. It looked like a whip, though the tail seemed to be made of some strangeish material. "It's a fire-whip." She exclaimed. "I light it on fire and dance with it." There was a hint of pride in her voice, the whip had taken a long time to save for and dancing with it was no joke. "I also need something to wear when I use it. You know, like a costume. A cool costume." She added.

"A costume," Delilah repeated mildly as she peered into the box. "We'll see what we can find." She straightened and regarded Kaimi with a measuring gaze. "Bright colors, I think," she announced. "Something a little more sophisticated." Then she smiled sweetly before motioning for Kaimi to follow her as she started a slow, hip-swinging walk towards a trendy, feminine store just to the left of the big chain the other girl had been considering. "Maybe a cute skirt but pants, definitely, for the costume." So focused on her plans, Delilah barely registered the other people buzzing past them.

Kaimi studied Delilah's walk before trotting up to walk beside her. She imitated the the hip-swing, something she was excellent at considering all the dance practice she had. Still, she definitely didn't feel like she was nearly as glamorous as Delilah, despite her imitation sexy-walk. It's time to grow up a little she chided herself silently. "Were you just here shopping?" Kaimi asked her friend. It seemed like Delilah always turned up exactly where and when she was needed. Like magic. Or an angel. Or something.

Before Delilah could answer, a figure squeezed between both of them, ubiquitous venti coffee in one hand and the other stuck straight into the pocket of jeans so skinny that it seemed impossible for a hand to fit in there. It didn't, even. Only the tips of Casca's claws really managed to get into his jean pocket, but he didn't seem that concerned as he wedged his way with an "Excusez-moi," between the two girls.

"Delilah," he said, and half-saluted her with the coffee cup: they were respected enemies or unfriendly allies. Then, with a flash of recognition and genuine pleasure, he said: "Kaiminelli? For serious? Hey, how's it."

Blinking in suprise at the intruder, it took Kaimi a moment to recognize him. "Casca!" She exclaimed. "You grew!" Of course, she had also. She just tended to forget that part. People kept telling her to act her age but when you came from a cabbage, age was largely a relative matter. "I'm good. Delilah is helping me pick out some new clothes." She said this part under her breath and with a faint blush, still rather embarrassed about her total and complete lack of fashion sense.

As Kaimi admitted the mission, Delilah's bright eyes narrowed a bit on Casca, a response missed by the sweeter flower-girl. It was impossible to tell whether Delilah felt annoyed or if she was just re-evaluating the situation. Casca was, after all, her partner in textile arts. Her voice, however, was sweet as sugar when she cut in softly. "Helping," she repeated. "Just giving opinions and helping her figure out some alternatives. It's always good to have options. Don't you think, Casca?"
