Introduction
My name is Henry Hailsmen, and I am Head of the Healers Board in St Mungo’s. The board was founded to organize hospital matters and manage our mediwizard staff. I was a healer myself, for forty years before I accepted a position on the Board.

It is my responsibility to see to it that healers do their jobs quickly and properly. If you make a mistake, you’ll be hearing from me, mark my words.

Becoming a Staff Member
To become a healer, one must first complete eight years of magical medicine educational training. They’ve got a beginners program at Hogwarts now, which will give you a good push in the right direction.

You’ve got to be capable of working efficiently under great stress. During national emergencies, for example, healers are expected to remain on duty at the hospital despite family obligations or personal crisis, round the clock until the flood of injured patients has slowed. Your job has got to come first, before family, friends, or your personal life. You’ve got to be awake and alert even without sleep, because a tired healer means a dead patient. It’s not an easy job, folks. You’ll see more children die in front of you in the first five years of your career than most people see in their whole lifetime. You’ve got to be tough.

If you’ve got the training and you think you’re up for it, fill out the form and owl it to me immediately. I’ll look it over, have a look at your credentials, and set up an interview. I only want the best working in my hospital.

Hospital History
St Mungo’s was founded in the 1600s by one of the greatest healers of his time, Healer Mungo Bonham. He believed that it would be more efficient for injured wizards and witches come to the healer, rather than the healer come to them; this way, a healer could oversee multiple patients and always have the necessary equipment on hand. I’m proud to call myself his descendant.

Inner Workings
This hospital operates on several floors - each floor is designed to house a different assortment of ailments, from the Artifact Accidents handled on the first floor to the Death Eater Rehabilitation program hosted on the sixth floor. This keeps mediwizards with certain specialties working on the floor that needs them most.

Supervising all of our healers are Department Heads, who answer directly to the Healers Board and manage serious issues in their respective departments. The “Head Healer” manages each of these Department Heads. The Departments are as follows: Emergency, Permanent, Eventual Death, and Special Case. These Departments manage immediate care for critical cases, handling patients who will remain in the hospital for the duration of their lives due to incurable or unmanageable ailments, administration over patients who will likely die due to their ailments while in the hospital’s care, and patients who suffer dangerous and/or contagious ailments, respectively. They are often abbreviated E, P, ED, and SC. The Permanent Department Head is the only Head who remains on one floor of the hospital rather than roaming as the other Heads do.

Most healers who are not promoted to being Department Heads are assigned to a specific floor based on their abilities.
