Okay, this isn't a whiny "OMG I think I'm pregnant! What do I do?!" I need opinions.
This month, I didn't get a period... just a tiny bit of pink in my panties three days after my period was supposed to start. I'm one of those woman who can schedule her life for years based of the accuracy of periods. I have been cramping just enough to be uncomfortable at times for the past two weeks. I'm nauseous, tired, etc. I have an IUD and I'm worried I might be pregnant, though a test was negative last week. I have a 22 day cycle which makes it kind of hard to guess when is too soon to test. On the flip side, I'm also super stressed right now because both my husband and I are unemployed and the money is running out FAST.
I want advice. My husband's not being too helpful in the advice giving department.
Should I call it stress and wait to see if my period returns next month or spend the money on another test?

The symptoms to me suggest pregnancy, because with my first pregnancy, I cramped like I was having a period, but there was no period, and with my second pregnancy, I spotted for 3 days when my period was due, but then it stopped, and that made me wonder.
How late were you when you did the pregnancy test? With such short cycles, I'm not sure if that means the accuracy changes when it's close to when your period is due or not, but if it hasn't varied much over the years, then any change has to suggest something, whether pregnancy or stress or something else!
With you having an IUD though, if you were pregnant and wanted to keep it, wouldn't you have to go see a doctor ASAP to see what they could do? Or is there no way to remove the IUD without causing problems? Or do you not plan to keep it if you're pregnant, since you're probably on birth control for a reason? I thought an IUD can also prevent implantation and/or growth by just being in the uterus, so if you did nothing for a month and just waited, and you were pregnant, it would take care of itself, if that's what you were aiming for? Sorry for all the questions! I don't want to be insensitive, and I'm not sure about your intentions regarding wanting/not wanting a possible pregnancy. *hugs*

I have an IUD because I just had a son in August 08. We wanted to wait til our daughter was in or preparing for kindergarten (two years away) before having more kids and the IUD was the cheapest option for the time frame. IUDs prevent implantation, reduce the amount of tissue buildup on the uterine wall (lighter periods) and came even stop ovulation. I can feel my ovulations however, so I know it's not that.
I know removing the IUD asap is important to sustain pregnancy, but sometimes they can't be removed because of where the baby implanted. I've read stories of women who were pregnant and had healthy babies with IUDs the whole time.
I did the pregnancy test on... *checks calender* Okay, I was a little off before. I did the test a week after my period was supposed to start and spotted on the same day. So I was supposed to start on the 22nd and did the test on the 29th. I didn't use the same pregnancy test I've used for my previous two pregnancies (EPT). I used a cheaper one.
If we were pregnant, I'd probably have a small panic attack just because of the way things are right now. But I would never not have a child because it was inconvenient. I would just accept that I was meant to have the child and trust everything to work out. That's exactly what happened with my daughter. I got pregnant through the magic of gravity and we weren't prepared, but we made it work and I wouldn't trade her for the world. If I am pregnant and I lost it, I would be upset.

If you haven't taken another test by now, it's best you do so. I know from personal experience that within the first two weeks after a light period, cheaper pregnancy tests may give you a false "not pregnant" reading. If you don't feel like spending money, you can always see your physician and reveal your suspicions to him or her and get a test done through them. Whatever you decide, it's best to know asap, just incase the IUD does need to be removed.

Yea... after spending quite a bit of time dry heaving in the bathroom last night, I finally decided to bite the bullet and sent my husband out for a test. I'll do it tomorrow morning. Thanks for telling me about the cheaper tests. Everything I read from other moms online said the cheaper tests worked just as well.
And I'm uninsured, so going to my doctor would cost $96 just for the office visit. It's in a really expensive suburb, but I refuse to go to any other office/hospital. They are better in EVERY way! I'm already trying to get on the county's planned parenthood, so I'll just contact them about switching to Pregnancy Medicaid if the test is positive. And probably go to their clinic for medical confirmation.
Well, I should know tomorrow...

I took another test Saturday evening - this time I used First Response - and it came out negative again. I woke up Sunday morning feeling worse than ever. I was so nauseous I was shaking. It threw me immediately into a bad mood and I couldn't shake it. By the afternoon, when I was supposed to be getting my husband, son and myself ready to go to dinner at my parents', I was curled up on the bathroom floor, angry and crying. I had snapped at my husband several times and was just loosing control. He and I alternated between arguing or sitting in silence the entire way to my parents' house. I did apologize for being so b*tchy later in the evening.
Today, I'm going to call DSS and find out where I need to go to have a blood test done. If that turns up negative too, I'm going to have them switch my birth control. That's the only other thing that could be affecting me (I'm on no other medications) and the more I read online, the more worried I am becoming.

Okay, I got my insurance worked out and went to the doctor today. The urine test came back negative and I'm awaiting the results of the blood test. Once I know those results are in, I'll figure out what to do next.

I don't have any advice other than what you're all ready doing, just hoping you get an answer soon.

I got my blood test back on Tuesday. Not pregnant! Thank god!
I opted not to have a pelvic ultrasound as I had started feeling not so crappy. If my symptoms return again, I'm definitely gonna switch back to the pill (even though I'm bad at remembering). At this point, I'm just too tired to be very worried any more.

I'm glad you're starting to feel better! If your symptoms return, I'd definitely suggest going in to see what's causing it and having it fixed, whether it's the birth control or something else, symptoms like that have to point to something! I'm glad you got insurance taken care of too! *hugs*

So one month later and I'm still suffering from nausea, cramping, fatigue, breast tenderness, etc, etc. They went away for a while, but they've been creeping up on me again. I've also started feeling what reminds me of "quickening" for over a week now. It's more than just "gas bubbles". They've been more frequent.
I've been reading up on negative tests and what else the symptoms could be and found that some woman who have had normal pregnancies before will suddenly be ten-fourteen weeks along before getting a positive result. (Both at home and blood tests)
I think I'm gonna take my last pregnancy test tomorrow morning and if I don't get a positive, I'll see the doctor on my next day off, just to make sure something serious isn't wrong with me. O_o

I'm sure worrying isn't helping. The more you think about it, the more you'll be sensitive to every little thing. I had awhile here where I kept thinking I was pregnant and turns out I was just psyching myself out.
If it were me, I'd go get a blood test just to be sure. If I could peer into your uterus and tell you what was going on, I would. All we can really do is tell you what you already know. sweatdrop

I'm having a pelvic ultrasound done this afternoon... Right now, it's the not knowing that's driving me nuts! I can tolerate feeling this way when I'm pregnant, because it means there's a little baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel.
However, feeling constantly sick, sore and tired without knowing why makes it worse than simply dwelling on it. It seems when I find a distraction I get worse than when I think about it. I've been like this since I was a child. If I knew why I hurt, I could cope better.
I'll take any reasoning at this point, even the need for emergency treatment if it means I know what's going on with my own body.
Edit: 1:43PM - Had an ultrasound. Was told jack. I'm gonna go crawl into a whole until Thursday. I'm so tired of feeling like s**t and no one being able to give a straight answer.

That's what I was going to mention before I read this last post, that a pelvic ultrasound would let you know for sure whether you're pregnant or not, if indeed some women get negative blood test results even until 14 weeks or so. I'm sorry they didn't give you any helpful answers! Maybe they themselves don't know what's going on. I'm assuming you're not pregnant, though, because they would have for sure seen that and confirmed it. I hate not knowing what's going on with my body too. I'd rather have answers and then take steps to deal with it! *hugs*
