In contrast to the bustling streets of the merchant quarter, you have the residential area. The streets are fairly quiet and peaceful during the day save for the laughter of children at play. Most commonly passers through are commuting to work, and idlers are mothers and caretakers sprucing up outside the home.
At night these streets are silent and preferably so. This is the resting area of the bulk of the city's population. Common homes are clustered to the lower areas while closer to the top of the hill lies the mansions and manors of the nobles.

Maryl traveled the streets of the base of the hill area. it was understandable at this point why her friends took this path when getting to places in town. It was much quieter than the merchant quarter and there was far less traffic. There were a few people out and around but even fewer were actually moving about the street. Enjoying the warm summer air, Maryl made her way toward city hall.

Maryl hurried quickly toward the south, heading for the edge of town. Her hogging pace was awkward as she held her hat down and clutched the strap of her bag and strobe with one hand. She in a moment of distraction she looked at the glittering stone adorning the strobe, and how it shimmered in the sunlight. Her gaze returned to the streets ahead as buildings began to thin out around her.

Seeing as how nobody was around on the main trail, Emeriss decided to speed up her trip home. After a quick look around to be completely sure, She took a step into the air and began to levitate. Placing her parasol hook over her forearm, she leaned forward and began to float across the ground quickly as she headed uphill to her mansion home.
After arriving at the massive front door, Emeriss gave the knob a quick twist and pushed her way in. A brief shout of "I'm home!", sounded from the door just before it slammed shut.

Some time well after the sun had risen, Emeriss emerged from her home. She shielded her eyes from the sunlight with her hand before unbuttoning her parasol and opening it, holding it aloft and beginning down the street. Taking the turn at the big cross section, she started on her way to the merchant quarter.

Oddly enough, daytime is the right time in the residential quarter. Since nobody was really around outside, Kel jumped up flying off out in the open as he ascended and headed south for the edge of town.

Emeriss drifted in over the sun setting sky, at the very least distant enough to only appear to be a distant bat dropping in on her family's mansion. She took a short walk over to the edge of the balcony and rested her elbows on the railing as she looked out over the residential area. "I don't suppose my natural charms would lure out some of the more powerful souls running around here. I've managed to avoid any stigma or rumors caused by eating suitors, but they're always so... mediocre." She sighed and rested her chin on her hands, content to watch the sun begin to fall behind the horizon.

Emeriss sat upon the railing of the balcony outside her bedroom enjoying the rising winter air in the clear sky.
A rather tall haunting figure of a well dressed man entered the balcony from her bedroom. Having carried a tray with a tea pot, some cups and a small plate of scones, he set it upon the table and took a bow before speaking. "Milady, there is an invitation for you. I shall leave it here on the table for you with your tea." He withdrew the folded envelope from his pocket and set it on the blank spot at the edge of the tray.
"Thank you, Gaspard." Emeriss half sang at him smiling.
Gaspard bowed once again, "Your welcome, Milady. Excuse me." He stepped back inside the mansion and headed back into the hall.
Emeriss spun around and hopped off the railing to approach the covered table and chair. She took the envelope and flipped it open to read the note. "Hmm... how curious. This could be entertaining."

It took hours of sifting through and trying on dresses but Emeriss came to her decision. She emerged atop the sea of dresses holding up a strapless deep navy gown. The bodice was strangely seamless and studded in a v pattern with round clear diamonds. The skirt was long and and pinched off here and there with diamond embroidery resembling a sprinkle of snow or rainfall. Now fairly beeming, Emeriss tossed the dress into the air letting it hover in place with a bit of magic. She cast her hands down at the remaining dresses strewn about the room causing them to all rise and become quickly vacuumed back into the closet as if it were a vortex. As it finished, the closet door slammed shut tight.
Emeriss giggled in anticipation as she trotted off to her bathroom to get ready.

The front doors of Dumont Manor flung open with a thrust from Emeriss' heel. She was wearing the dress she had picked out, the deep navy gown of diamonds, strapless bodice, and billowy skirt. Her hair was done up in a spiral semi braided bun with long braids coming from the center of the bun and down to her neck. Beside her parted and curved bangs was a round fascinator clip of three white feathers and studded with sapphires in a four point star shape. She wore an off-white shawl over her shoulders which was woven with a pattern of flying doves. Her hands were covered in long white gloves that extended to half way up her upper arms. She couldn't forget her rings. Aside from her thumbs, every finger had at least one jewel topped band. Emeriss had just stepped off the landing of the doorway before hearing a call from within the mansion.
Gaspard charged up to the doorstep and paused briefly taking a bow. "Miss Emeriss, please at least allow me to take you there by carriage. You wouldn't want to get your finery scuffed up walking through town."
Emeriss sighed and slumped over a bit. Well I suppose I did get fired up a bit too soon. Wouldn't want to arrive a mess. She turned and nodded before folding her arms, "Yes, make it snappy, Gaspard."
"Of course, Milady." Gaspard bowed again and charged off into the yard toward the stables taking step over step and even making a hop over the short fence to the range.
As Emeriss watched with scrutiny she was also somewhat amazed. "How is he so fit like that? I'm kind of jealous."

As the horse drawn carriage made its way around to the street just before Dumont Manor, Gaspard waved to Emeriss beckoning her to get on so they could go. "Let us be off, milady." He called out.
Arms folded, Emeriss looked around a bit scrutinizing her surroundings. It was a good distance to the next house, and all quiet today. She went ahead and climbed into the carriage waiting to be taken to the castle.
As soon as Emeriss had entered the carriage and sat down, Gaspard snapped the reins commanding the horses to start walking and carry them off to the castle.
