It was late afternoon, the sky was growing dull as time went by, but it made no difference to today. All it had done from morning to afternoon is rain. The rain was refreshing when it wasn't as frequent as it had been lately and to Alex, the lands constant dampness was growing ever more annoying. He looked out from a hill over a lake, water continued to downpour over his skin pushing cloaking him further in a dim grey colour unlike his usual pearly white gleam that actually shouted nobility.
He'd have to head to the lake, to clean up when the weather cleared a little and at this point, it would take him a while to get there. 'why me.. Its always me' he pouted at the unkindly actions of the heavens. watching as every powerful step slumped deeper into the earths soil, only adding more attractive features to his already tainted coat. 'great, now im filthy'
His ears lowered, descending from the hill top and to a part where it was alot more smooth in surface. The air was chilly, and with night soon approaching it was a wonder how much colder the air would get... Could this day get an worse?
It was only then he began to think about how lonely his last few travels had been. He shook his head, no he couldn't let the weather get to him! It wasn't like him at all but through the lifeless bangs that clung to his vision, he wanted to see someone, something to brighten up the stormy clouds.

Clara was not much for constant rain either, but she tried to be cheerful about it, reminding herself that it couldn't all be that bad. "The plants will get lots of water, and it will be quite green. And the rivers will flow. That's good for spring. And..." Blast it. She was out of ideas. She just wasn't having much fun, trying to look halfway decent under all this weather.
Still, Clara didn't like to be upset. She liked being happy, and it was just so difficult for her to have a frown on her face for any more than a short span of time. Even though it was raining today, the lake side was pretty, and there were a few lone ducks out on the water. Her gown was already soaked completely, and her curls were matted beyond fixing. There was no point in hiding anymore. She was already wet, right?
With a beaming smile, Clara kicked up her heels, running down towards the water, kicking at clumps of mud and at puddles. She was very, very careful to make sure that none of the dirt actually got on her, but beyond that, she was rather silly and relatively carefree. She was slightly lonely, so she stopped to talk to a duck... Only to have it run away. Oh, bother. Was it something she had said?
Once more, the idea of any sort of enemy or wrong doing was completely out of Clara's head. Why would anyone want to hurt her? It really, truly was a miracle the girl hadn't managed to get injured yet. Honestly now. One day she was going to disturb some kalona, and that would be the end of her.
Luckily, Clara was not entirely ignorant to her surroundings. She spotted the lone figure coming, and instantly a blush coated her cheeks. She was stammering out excuses for her behavior before the other soquili could even be in ear shot. "It was cold I had something down my dress I don't normally act so foolish you mustn't think I'm like that oh I'm so rude my name is Clara." It all came out in one big exhalation of breath. Rather impressive, really.

Alex was so fed up with the rain he hadn't actually noticed the attired mare by the lakeside, if it hadn't of been the sudden set of mumblings that fumbled through the splashing droplets of rain he probably wouldn't have even turned a look her way, but alas it had caught his attention and he had paused silently, lost in the damp trailing mane.
"Clara..?" He repeated, throwing his head upwards into the air, clearing his vision. She was just as soaked as he was, down to the very bare skin and her clothing had become drwned to the point her pelt was seeping through. His eyebrow raised... How odd. He'd never witnessed such a thing. It was all new? He looked either way and watched as sevewral smaller animals wandered into the lake and disappeared like it was eating them whole.
'so im left with... Yeah..' He rolled his eyes under the blanklet of blond strands before treading over in a struggle to the metted maned mare.
"Wonderful to meet you Clara, my name is Alexander. You may call me Alex if you wish to" He smiled meekly, the weather had him in a not so good mood, but he wasn't about to take it out on the poor lass - she was probably the sunshine through all of this with the way she was acting.
"Now... What were you saying again..? Im afraid I only caught your name.." 'selective hearing?'
he thought, sweat beading slightly.

Clara had time to gather herself properly as Alex treaded water over to her. He didn't look very happy to be out in the rain, though he was probably not quite a sorry sight as she herself was. Lucky enough, there was a small shelter nearby. Clara had seen it earlier, but it looked awfully dark and lonely, and slightly scary. But maybe if Alex wanted to come along?...
"I was apologizing for looking silly. It's very nice to meet you Alex. Even if the weather isn't so nice." Clara smiled ruefully, looking up long enough for water to splat into one of her large eyes. "Drat at all, being wet is no longer fun."
She was somewhat embarrassed to propose shelter. It just didn't seem proper. But Alex probably hadn't seen it, or he would be hiding there, where it would be dry, and maybe even warmer.
"There's a shelter the little way up the hill... I saw it earlier, but I didn't go in because it was sort of scary looking. But I can show you the way. Maybe if I have a new companion, it won't seem so dark." A ghost of a smile that time. "Follow me."
Clara lead the way, a dim cream and pink light guiding a wayward traveler to mystic Avalon. When she reached the overhanging that signaled the entrance to the half-cave, she paused, waiting to see if Alex was following. Oh, she hoped he was! Clara did so like to make new friends, but was fully aware that her behavior could be construed as slightly strange.

Alex chuckled lightly. "No need to be sorry, the rain has a way of letting people's imagination run free." He shrugged, watching the repeated ripples dance along the lakes surface. His ears perked at her offer, and unlike any normal person who would take that as a insighted suggestion Alex skipped straight over that and to the thought of warmth and somewhere where his skin wouldn't feel so damp and sticky. He was sure he looked a mess, infact he was certain he did but this mare seemed sweet and she probably hadn't made an assumption that he wa a slop... Not like he was or anything. He just hated putting that impression upon his family.
His smile softened and he gladly followed after the mare who he now knew as Clara. 'well, the day looks a lot better already' he thought, watching the small damp curls bounce along the skin of her neck.
"Thank you. You know if it wasn't for you I'd of never of known a shelter was around here." He paused, listening to her calculation of the shelter. " You don't have to worry, you'll be safe with me" and that was a promise, if there was danger around any corner, Alex would always jump at the chance to demolish it. They were always under his wing if they were in need of it.
He peered to the side, shifting the fringe from the direct path of the cave watching as it taunted them in its dark ways, but it seemed evacuated enough. Maybe a few smaller animals lurked there but he didn't think anything completely harmful would be in it, it seemed to small of a den... Although, he never let his guard down.
"Becareful, just incase. Perhaps I should go in first Clara? That way you will come to no harm"
