Tango let out a sigh, his fingers coming to scratch at his neck. It still itched, but the bruises had faded away until they were non existent. He was once again able to speak without pain, and thankfully, able to sing once more. The feel of his guitar strapped on his back was a familiar and comforting weight that he'd taken to taking with him just about everywhere. It had a nice counter-reaction to the weight of the single paper in his pocket.

Flopping on a nearby bench near a string of apartment complexes, the teenager let out a tired sigh and dropped his elbows to his knees, throwing his head in his hands. How many days had he been at it?

Fabric rustled nearly silently next to him and he peaked an eye out to meet a pair of orbs identical to his own. "Hmm, Hmm," The figure hummed under her breath happily, kicking her legs back and forth on the bench- her tiny legs not yet long enough to reach the ground.

Raising his head completely, he fixed the girl with an intense stare. She was his new sister, born right after his fiasco with Evie. Desdemona, named after one of his favorite Shakespeare works, was attached to his hip more often then not and the only time he particularly minded was when we went on his search for Anastasia. There was something abuot the idea of his little sister walking around grimy apartment ridden streets that set him off. The unease had been enough to keep her home during most outings, but the stress of being unable to find the Kiwi scent had been too much and he'd resorted to extreme measures.

Together they scoured the city, Desdemona using Bourbon and Whiskey as her own little spies. She'd set them down a city street and search up and down for the scent. The ******** always listened to her, despite Bourbons particularly nasty habit of picking on him. He couldn't deny the help they offered.

A lead had been made somewhere between Meg and Dia street, the snakes having picked up on their 'pray'. Which was why they had their rears parked on this particular bench, Bourbon scouring Meg street, Whiskey taking to Dia. All he needed was a ******** clue; he'd go door to door if he had to if he just new what ******** street she was on.

Ana was not the cheerful girl she had once been, and it showed as she walked home from work that night. The light that phosphoresced in her hands was so dull it seemed likely to blink out at any moment, and she looked even paler than usual - and that was nearly impossible. She walked down the sidewalk with her hood over her head, hiding her bright green hair, and listening to an old Chemical Brothers mixtape she'd made ages ago. One would think getting a job at a rave bar would be a dream come true for the kiwi girl, but she was too depressed to do much more these days than follow a mechanical routine.

I'm seein' waves breakin' on my horizon, Lord, I'm shinin'...

Desdemona's legs continued to sway as her attention moved on from her snake's seeking mission to examining her surroundings carefully. She was bored and her attention was always faltering in such situations. As she took in the streets and the dim lights offered by lamps near by, she wondered how long it would take Bourbon and Whiskey, respectively, to get here. Whiskey was a terribly lazy snake, she'd come to note, so he'd take much longer to go up and down the streets, even though she'd told him to hurry.

Finding nothing note worthy on her left, she turned to her right. Her brother's bright orange and red hair, however, obstructed her view of the street. Leaning forward, her tiny hands clasped the bottom of the bench to keep herself from rolling forward as she attempted to look over her brother's frame. Only to let a startled squeal escape her lips.

"What is it, Desdi?" Tango questioned, turning his attention to the girl who had moved to sit against the back of the bench once more, her hands clasped over her lips.

"There's someone over there!" she gasped out, her emerald orb looking more blue-green with the different lighting, were wide with startled shock.

Tango turned his head to see what she was talking about. Indeed, there was a figure, hood up walking down the streets. He sighed and turned to her, motioning for her to stay where she sat.

"You stay here, I'm going to go talk to her. Maybe she'll know about who lives around here. Any information we can get will be helpful."

At that, he stood and made his way towards the figure. "Hey!"

Ana was too involved in her music and her depression to even acknowledge the summons, though she heard it. She didn't care. Go away, whoever you are. Go bother someone else. As though to accentuate the unspoken words, Ana turned up the volume and fixed her eyes firmly downwards.

"Hey, ********. Don't ignore me, I have a question for you!" Silently he swore if the person didnt pay attention to him this time, he'd forcefully pull those damned headphones from their ear (the wire was visible, even from where he stood) and scream in their ear. A punch might also work. He was pissed, hungry, and damn it, not one to be ignored.

Idly, Desdemona wondered if calling someone a '********' was the best approach to getting what one wanted. She doubted it, but she was sure her brother would get what he wanted, regardless. He always seemed to.

Oh, for heaven's sake. Ana stopped dead and half-looked over her shoulder.

"And I have an answer," she said, voice flat and tired. "Go away."

And with that, she started off again.

Well, at least now he had a gender for the little ********.

Irritation flared and with a quick turn of the heel he stormed the few steps to the girl, wrapping his fist around her wrist. He was vaguely aware that his grip was probably all too fit, but he didn't loosen it as he used his free hand to yank the offending ear piece away.

"Listen to me, you little b***h. I've been through hell this past week, and you're going to listen to me and listen well." He growled, barely controlling his temper. "I'm looking for an Anastasia. She's a little girl. And I've been looking for her throughout the ******** city. Now, tell me if you know where the hell the little brat is before I let my sister's pet snakes have their way with you. I've had about all I can take with females and PMS."

With a gasp of pain as several hairs were ripped out by the roots along with her earphone, Anastasia turned to stare at her apparent attacker full in the face, twisting her wrist at a painful angle in his grip. Unfortunately, the teen didn't recognize him.

"Let me GO!"

And suddenly, neon green light bright enough to blind shone right into Tango's face. She hadn't meant to do it, but Tango had frightened her.

Tango let go of her wrist, reeling back with a violent hiss, his hands flying to his eyes. Even when he closed his lids, in an attempt to sooth the acting sockets, he found that the light persisted and stabbed at his orbs like a knife, even through the lids. Whirling around so his back was against the light source he let out another low grumble from his chest.

"You b***h!" Someone was going to die.

Furiously, he rubbed at his eyelids trying to sooth the blinding light that he could still see, even though he was no longer in front of the source.

"TANGO!"
Desdemona shrieked from where she sat on the bench, launching herself up. "BOURBON!" Her second shriek was to her, admittedly much faster pet, in hopes he'd come in time should something else happen. With a quick lunge she made her way to where the two taller figures were, adrenaline pumping her veins from a lack of knowledge as to what the hell had just happened.

"Serves you right! It's night-time and a strange man grabs me and starts shouting!" Anastasia said angrily, holding her hands out in front of her defensively. "You ripped out my hair, how on earth was I supposed to react?"

The glow was dimming to the point where it was merely painful, not blinding, and Ana was quite obviously unaffected by it. She gave a start when she heard the child screaming...and suddenly gasped in recognition.

"OHMIGOD, TANGO."

And suddenly the light was gone, and Ana was looking horrorstruck.

"Tango, I'm so sorry," she said, knowing full well it wouldn't be good enough. "You scared me, I didn't mean to..."

"Well if you had just answered me in the first place I wouldn't have had to grab you!" He hissed, bending forward his hands still furiously rubbing at his eyes, hoping to take the sting away. He could feel moisture dripping from them and told himself he wasn't crying his eyes were just watering. There was a difference.

Her shriek of recognizance and the following apology had him bristling. Oh, great. So he knew the wench who flash-bombed him.

He opened his eyes, turning in the direction he assumed she was in. Light blobs danced around in his vision and everything was blurred from a mixture of his tears and the fact that his eye sight was still attempting to recover itself. There was a particular blob that looked as if it was the person and he narrowed his eyes, half in an attempt to look dangerous, half in an attempt to actually see the female.

"You're lucky I can't see you, or I'd be decking you right now. Who the hell are you?" He hissed, blinking several times in hopes of recovering. "And what the hell did you do to me?"

Desdemona stopped her mini-sprint at the sound of the other person apologizing. Confused, she stood on spot, listening as a soft hissing from somewhere behind her informed her that her pet was rapidly approaching. Confused as to what to do at the moment, she watched the two people in front of her, feeling mildly comforted that the more volatile of her pets would soon be at her beck and call.
