I have a question that has been bugging me for quite a while. Namely, why is it not offensive when one black person calls another a n*****?

Because they think that it doesn't mean the same thing as when someone from another race does it. But they're wrong. dictionary.com a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.

Honestly I don't think they even know why. neutral
But they could just not like it cause a white person is saying it, they started it,
plus now only little white kids trying to be "Gangster" say it.
Which I also don't like either,
Cause you see a white person with a black friend and they automatically think it's ok to say ******, but really it's not. rolleyes

Basically, I've got black friends. Sorta.
They call each other "N-i-g-g-a-s" which is different from "N-i-g-g-e-r-s"
n1gga (the 1 replacing an 'i' to avoid the censors) being a sort of term of endearment. Like "Whats up man/bud?" would be "Whats up 'n1gga'?"
n1gg3r would be the standard term.
Now, the reason why? I've got no damn clue. Maybe the first blacks (yes, blacks. Too lazy to say 'african-american' to use it thought that they'd make the word lose it's meaning if they used it like the white folks used 'friend' or w/e they said back then. And somewhere along the line, they decided to ban white people from saying it as a result for slavery and the Jim Crow laws which made crackers everywhere all butt-hurt and stuff for some stupid reason.
I think.
Maybe, whatever, I don't even know if I did what I set out to do.
