Vinny was at the park, supposedly babysitting one of his infant sisters. Reiya, this time. She was the better behaved-- Sammi seemed to always be in a bad temper. In reality, he was carefully being watched by one of his mother's friends. He didn't pay much attention to her--he didn't know that much about her, other than her name, and what she did.

He held the infant close to his chest, and hid a yawn behind a clawed hand. "I wish you could walk." He muttered. He wanted to play. He looked at Julie, his mother's friend, and smiled. "Want the baby?" He asked. There was a plea in his voice.

"Sure. I'll watch her. You go play." Julie said, taking the baby into her arms. The tiny elf cooed and smiled at the woman.

Vinny spotted someone who looked familar. "Ty?" He asked, looking at the older boy. "You got bigger." He said in surprise. The older boy also had an array of scars and what looked like glasses for one eye. "You okay?" He asked. Maybe he could cheer him up. "Allergies bothering you?"

Was that why Ty was in such a bad mood? Last time Vinny had seen him, he'd seemed so nice. What had happened to make him like this? "Hey.. If you promise not to scare her, I'll let you meet my new sister." Vinny offered.

"Your eye won't scare her." Vinny assured his friend. "She's not scared of me, even, and I look an awful lot scarier than you do." Okay, Vinny was lying. Maybe when Vinny had first met Ty, this would have been true. But now, with the scars and stuff.. Not so much.

Reiya cooed when she saw Vinny walking towards her, and reached for him. Vinny shook his head, and gestured to Ty. Instead of crying, Reiya's eyes widened, she was curious. She reached for him with one small hand.

Vinny took the baby into his arms, and silently handed her to Ty. "Here, Ty. Hold her head up like this." He showed the older boy the proper way to hold an infant. Reiya looked from her brother, whom she trusted, to the boy she'd just met. She looked at him with her round, gold-brown eyes, and reached up a hand to touch his face.

"'Ay!" She said, though it might have been a babble. "Ay!"

Vinny looked at the infant in amazement. "She's trying to say your name." He explained.

Vinny smiled, he was relieved that his sister and Ty were getting along. He had had his doubts when he'd first met up with the teenager. But Reiya had a secret weapon if anything did go wrong--cuteness.

"Ay?" Reiya sounded confused. "Ay, ay ay ay." She chanted, making her older brother giggle. He smiled at Ty.

"She likes you." He told his friend.

Reiya reached up her hand again, and took hold of Ty's nose. She held it in her tiny fist. She babbled, and smiled up at the boy. "Ty!" She said. "Ty ty ty ty."

Vinny couldn't help from giggling now. "Her name's Reiya, by the way. If I haven't told you already." He said. He felt kind of bad, introductions were usually the first thing you did. "She really likes you, Ty. You're good with kids."

Reiya babbled and giggled. Her pointed ears twitched at the sound of his voice. She let go of his nose, and became interested in his one eye. "Ey." She said, pointing to it. Well, not really pointing with a finger--pointing with her fist. "Ey. Ey!"

Vinny smiled at Ty, and then looked at his sister. "Right. Eye." He said.

Reiya blinked at Ty as she was bounced. "Ey?" She repeated. Her tiny fist closed around one of his ears. "Ey?" Vinny just shook his head and smiled.

"We've been trying to teach her and her sister to talk." He explained. "It's not working out so well--though Mom says most of the time elves learn faster than regular.."
