Just learned about SteamPunk and realized it combined a lot of what I like. Looking for others in the area.

I'm sure there are plenty of Steampunks in your area... I'm down in San Francisco but am planning a trip to Powell's City of books in Portland at the end of the month

Holly crap, Seattle is tottaly steampunk west coast. Go to The Metro or one of the Red Lights or an Army-Navy Surpluss store and get some goggles and walk around with them downtown on your head. You will meet your people.
I mean, gassworks, right? The market. even the EMP is kinda all brass-y. Steam runs as naturally through our blood as caffeene. We have like a billion cons to get your goggles on all at once. Try Norwescon... (which is like a week a way now.) and esp Steamcon in October/Novemeber. Anyways, if you wanna talk steampunk in Seattle, try googling "steam rats seattle." they got this email newsletter a mile long of swapmeets, cons, get-togethers etc. more then you'd ever want to actually know. they have an LJ thing too. Also, there's the wayward coffee shop on greenwood. 6:30-11:00 Mondays, it's full of steampunk and firefly geeks. it's hard to miss the "serenity" banner inside. talk to those browncoats, they'll talk your ear off. Studio Foglio (girl genius webcomic. HUGE.) is tottaly a Seattle operation. I know... *someone* who works for them. Abney Park is from Seattle.
